Title: Why doge still a thing
Post by: savon2k on July 21, 2017, 08:14:55 PM
What does DOGE coin means to you ? Why it's still being traded with no development ?)

Why does any coin need continuous development?--and I mean that as a serious question.  I really don't know.

Doge has a die hard community, transactions confirm extremely fast, and fees are low.  And the price is relatively stable.  In those respects, it's way better than bitcoin and can actually be used as money far more easily.  The same thing is true for a lot of coins, but the problem is that the number of people using crypto is still way too low to support them all.  Doge is still a thing because people still use it, that's about the size of it.  I don't currently own any, but I'd rather spend doge than bitcoin half the time.

It's simple, because the community has huge support.

But isn't this just a silly coin with a bunch of whales in there ?) I agree it seems kinda stable ,and all other you said about fees and transaction time ,but now there are dozens of better alternative coins with support and stuff.
How did Dode community appear ?in early days of bit coin and doge mems 💁🏼?

For me the doge coins are not important.
Only some people wear it so it does not develop like bitcoin

Yes there is a bunch of whales but a lot of middle and lower class whales. It's a fun coin and it is one of the most popular in gambling sites in my experience. Doge is still alive because almost everyone has it and almost everyone gives it away. Who gives away other alts as often?

Honestly, when i got into cryptocurrency I started with Doge. You know, it was fun it was created for memes and community wasn't full of "mycurrencywillbegazilliondollarsandiwillberich" type of people. When something is less serious it gives you pleasure.Investors uses it because it's cheaper and faster but i don't think that it will ever get half of the popularity that Bitcoin got.

You probably right about gambling and stuff , and it's probably just really easy to implement if you work with bitcoin (since it's pretty much the same tech I think)
I'm gonna try to find something on history of doge coin and post it ,maybe somebody is interested too. I just know it's logo was on NASCAR car 😂

Silly coins show up every day, Dogecoin is quite an old coin, founded on 2013 and still going. Yes, it's not being developed anymore but it's present in most major exchange sites. Its community is keeping it alive, while being a relatively stable coin, it's not bad for new investors. Its meme has pretty much died but the coin is still being traded.

Be realistic please, nobody cares for doge transaction speed or confirmation speed. Whales use it for pump and dumps, you guys just want to benefit from it. That's all. Please don't count lots of detailed features which doge doesn't have.

Common sense much ?

Anything once popular is hoped it will be again.

clueless much? Where LTC goes, doge will not be far behind as most miners mine it merged...

DOGE is still a thing because it has extremely rapid, dependable and cheap transactions. I just don't recommend holding it for the long term. Too much competition out there, and one of my favorite DOGE sports betting sites went down recently.

simply the fact that it is a legacy PoW with 0 premine is all it takes to keep doge afloat.  The memetic marketing got it to where it is (which is really the most fascinating thing about Doge, and a lot can be learned from the way they essentially gained a mult-million $ ad campaign for free), and the first point is why it stays valuable.

Which is a result of point 1, and only serves to entrench it further, it's a good point.  Not sure why Spoetnik hates Doge so much, it's hell of a lot better than 90% of those shitcoin ICO's that litter the top 100, honestly any fairly distributed 0 premine PoW chain gets a +1 in my book.

Doge has something going for it, which is a strong community. There are a lot of coins with absolutely no development, no idea, etc which still command insane valuations. I wouldn't grudge doge at all. :)

To be exact, doge is still trading even if it has no development because many people are still using it even if it was created with an intention of it being a joke. Also, it is one of the most popular coin to use in gambling and as well as others, because there are some platforms that still accepts doge ad payment. Also, even if there is no development in doge at all, it still has it's community going strong.

Dogecoin was created when the bitcoin was not long. compared with other cryptocurrencies, Dogecoin has a fast initial coin production schedule: 100 billion coins have been in circulation by mid 2015.
Dogecoin was created by programmer Billy Markus from Portland, Oregon, who hoped to create a fun cryptocurrency that could reach a broader demographic than bitcoin, Therefore a great deal of comommity from dogecoin

Dont know much about doge but, they say that dogecoin is really a good coin. And that's why maybe there were so many investors about dogecoin. Well if there is a good team running a coin then it would be a thing.

yes i think so, dogecoin is old coin beside bitcoin, the purpose of making dogecoin  perhaps can be affordable by all circles of society with a cheap price so that anyone is easy to have a dogecoin.  :)

Its really a good crypto currency . Its reliable, fast and has very low transaction fee. In most of the places the transaction fee is only 1-2 Doge which when converted to bitcoin is only 70-150 satoshi according to current price. I mostly use it to transfer coins from one exchange to another as it saves me from the huge transaction fee for bitcoin. I sometimes also use it for trading and buy it when the price is low  and sell when the price is high. It does gives us some good profit. It has a good potential and that's why people support it and believe in it.

At this point, dogecoin is just being propped up by a few members of its community.
