Reminds me of Microsoft points; there's literally no reason to use them in lieu of USD, where you can, y'know, figure the real cost of the product you're buying, but the geniuses behind charging to use Netflix after already paying for Netflix thought it was a good idea.

'Cos y'know, fuck you, we're Microsoft.  Considering the fact that Amazon is pushing for the Internet sales tax to drive out competitors, I'm never buying from them again.

Nope, you can not transfer them to another account or person.

And you can not redeem them back for US dollars.

And you can only use them to buy apps for your kindle. You can't even use them to buy books for your kindle! And forget about anything on amazon.com.
