Post by: kotbi on July 23, 2017, 08:45:18 PM
I have no way to contact with them. the ticket system is so slow and their twitter account literally publish one sentence a month. They refused to gave users free steller lumens airdrop. Now I don't know if they will give us BCC after Aug. 1.  any ideas?

Withdraw your bitcoin to a wallet where you control the keys.

The BCC coins are sure to come. I 'll have to get prepared. BCC is a hard fork. They may compete with BTC directly in near future. I never tried electrum. I will give it a try. Do you have to wait a lot of time for syning?

There is no guarantee that there will be another coin. But be on the safer side and transfer all your Bitcoins to a desktop or mobile wallet. If you control your private keys then you'll be safe.

You may want to contact them through their new support handle : support@poloniex.freshdesk.com

Whether bitcoin can operate again after the 31st of August?

July 31 you meant?

Of course, this is a sure thing to do. Better be safe than sorry. Especially now that Polo is acting up already even before the August 1 date.

No, I not see Poloniex have notification this problem, maybe they will do like Coinbase and user not receive when have HardFork split chain network Bitcoin. But if you interesting with Bitcoin Cash, I think you can send your Bitcoin to Bittrex, but I don't know Bittrex in present has unblock their wallet or still frozen!

Electrum is light weight wallet so no syncing is required you will be able to send and receive bitcoin just after you complete installation.

BCC is just another clone of bitcoin created by few miners so don't expect it to compete with bitcoin. But if you hold your bitcoin in addresses under your control like in electrum you will get some free BCC which you can dump when it will be listed. Who don't love the free money  ;D ;D

Talking like a real greedy IDIOT!. BCC will be just another shitty alt which will bring NOTHING to the table but the option for Roger Ver and the gang to spread their hashrate and make them more money. Whoever gets this for free should dump it the moment they get.

ust withdraw your bitcoins and store in electrum wallet in your pc so that you would have full control your coins.People have started realizing that hard fork is nothing but FUD spread and hence bitcoin price has triggered.Bitcoin is yet to continue its journey for a long time.

Any wallet from which you control the private keys is fine in the event of chain splits.  Frankly it's pretty irresponsible for people to even be carrying their coins on exchanges now, after BIP 91.
BCC is just another clone of bitcoin
This is a lie.  It's not a clone, it's a modification intended for people who support larger blocks.
Talking like a real greedy IDIOT!. BCC will be just another shitty alt which will bring NOTHING to the table but the option for Roger Ver and the gang to spread their hashrate and make them more money. Whoever gets this for free should dump it the moment they get.
Well, looks like a very neutral and unbiased opinion.

It's impossible to predict how much support BCC will get in terms of speculators, so just like how you should have your coins in your own wallet all the time when you're not trading, you should have your coins in your personal wallet now.

Suggesting otherwise is allowing exchanges to basically steal money from you that you should have a right to, just like what most of them do with Stellar Lumens and Byteball.

It's OK - you have until August 1st, which means that you can withdraw >$10000 before you need to start worrying about the coins you have on Poloniex.  If you have a verified account, this isn't a problem at all.

I think they are yet to officially announce something about it but bittrex has already announced that they will be taking care of the funds and will be distributing the coins if there is a split in the network and if they did not announce this week, then never expect them to give you the split coins.

It's not advisable to let your coins stay at an online/web wallet or an exchange. Most of the experts are saying that its' good if you are going to hold your bitcoins where you have the control to the private keys / seed. That's a better place of storing your bitcoins. Bittrex has enable withdrawal's maybe they'll do something about it soon.

July 24, 2017

Our plans to handle potential BTC network disruptions

There are a number of proposals for technical changes to Bitcoin that may take effect in the coming weeks, so we are taking this opportunity to communicate our plans for managing any resulting network disruption. We take no position on the desirability of any particular proposal nor do we have a stake in any outcome. Our primary concern is protecting our users and their tokens.

As we have done in the past when faced with similar circumstances (1), any decision we make will be with the security of users' tokens in mind. We will be disabling deposits and withdrawals of Bitcoin (and all BTC related tokens) any time we deem necessary to ensure that all tokens stored on Poloniex remain safe. The length of any possible downtime is unknown as this is highly dependent on network stability. Our objective will be to bring the wallet back online and enable deposits and withdrawals as soon as we believe it is safe to do so. Trading will be unaffected during these periods.

At this time, we cannot commit to supporting any specific blockchain that may emerge if there is a blockchain split. Even if two viable blockchains emerge, we may or may not support both and will make such a decision only after we are satisfied that we can safely support either blockchain in an enterprise environment. If we decide to support and make available derivative blockchain tokens after a blockchain split, note that if you have your tokens on loan at the time of a split, we cannot distribute the derivative tokens to you, the lender, as you would not possess them. Such loaned tokens can, and often do, leave the platform. (2)

If you don't want to leave the decision of which Bitcoin tokens to support (or recognize as valid) to a 3rd party, you should not keep your tokens on any 3rd party platform. We encourage you to follow our Twitter and Notices board for updates.

Well this isn't exactly encouraging but it's nice that they finally said something. It's interesting how they said that "you should not keep your tokens on any 3rd party platform" but they won't let you do a full withdrawal of your funds before August 1st if you're not fully verified. Since these proposals just spontaneously came into existence, you may not have had enough time to prepare for them.

Just to play it safe, I would definitely move your BTC from Poloniex into a wallet that you control. I'd use Exodus, or even better, purchase a Ledger and hold it there. You'll have access to your private keys and be in a far safer position than on online hot wallet.

Yes that's true, to play it safe you need to move away from the onlinecwaljers but I don't doubt uf it's going to be that easy for some of us who are still glued to our coinbase wallets.

Check the official website:

https://www.bitcoincash.org/

Bitcoin Cash is going to be an altcoin (although earlier it was thought that it will be a chain spit from the original Bitcoin), formed by some of the miners rejecting the recent changes (SegWit).

I did not hear any poloniex information about bitcoin division. So, do not risk if they do not answer you. Currently, bittrex is the best place to store bitcoin. They accept the risk of bitcoin when it's split, so you should use it.

The BCC coins are sure to come. I 'll have to get prepared. BCC is a hard fork. They may compete with BTC directly in near future. I never tried electrum. I will give it a try. Do you have to wait a lot of time for syning?

I think electrum is a handy purse to use, you should use it. In addition, other wallet hardware is similar, however, do not use any web wallet.

You can have BCC on August 1 because BitcoinCash (BCC) is a fork of the ledger, that means you own the same amount of BitcoinCash as you did Bitcoin at the time of the forking block. However, if your Bitcoins are stored by a third party such as an exchange, then you must inquire with them about your cash. So now mate, if you're Bitcoins are on exchangers withdraw it now on offline wallets were you controlled your keys like Electrum.

I don't believe so, they aren't giving coins from the Stellar distribution, if you want to keep any coins associated with your bitcoins you need to have them in your own addresses, this way you control them, otherwise they just keep the coins.

You should contact them about this, they will provide the most accurate information. However, if they accept the division of bitcoin, if they provide the BCC to you, they will inform you. Currently, they have not done that yet.

Some wallet service providers have already expressed their intention of not touching Bitcoin Cash. I think Bitstamp and 1Broker will not be participating in the distribution and keep of Bitcoin Cash. Now, if this Bitcoin Cash can be given for free then I would gladly receive them so I can sell them in an exchange playing with Bitcoin Cash.

Just withdraw your bitcoin and store it in a trusted wallet that supported the hard fork just like Electrum or any hardcore or trusted wallet because in that move you will get in touch with the hard fork and you will get the new coin which is BCC so in my opinion just transfer it into a wallet.

The also didn't attribute lumens from the stellar distribution, I wounder if they did claim those lumens, their business practice is becoming more and more anti-costumer, we better start looking for alternatives and migrate our portfolios for other exchanges.

I am not sure about Poloniex but I wanted to know about Yobit. I don't even have Bitcoins in my Yobit wallet (as I have withdrawn the funds in my blockchain.info wallet where I have private keys). However, I want to know that, will I receive the BCC for the amount which is not yet paid by Yobit? As I can see some amount in signature campaign earnings section which indicates Bitcoins earned but not yet paid so I was curious to know, will I receive the BCC for that amount?

Poloniex is the biggest exchanger, and of course they have anticipated the problem, I'm sure there will be no problem and I'm still confident of storing bitcoins there.

Poloniex's statement is a bit ambiguous but sound reasonable. They have no way of knowing if BCC is gonna be good or not.

What's interesting is bitfinex and poloniex stand on lending.

Bitfinex will give BCC for those who lend.

Poloniex will NOT give BCC for those who lend.

And that is a big problem. I stop lending and will move BTC out of lending account first just to make sure.

Here is a wallet (airbitz) that will be able to secure your btc and then transact for your bch (bitcoin cash) later.

Lending in BTC goes up to 4% a day.

It seems that

Buying alt coins
Keep lending BTC
Put BTC in poloniex

All have similar return.

It's easy to install a wallet that has features of saving private keys. Why people still want to store bitcoin on exchanges? To save fees? Any kind of reason, it's a must that you take away your coins at the exchanges for the moment. It was even the recommendation by most of the people.

People can save themselves asking questions like that if they will explore things.

I think NO poloniex will support only if who is good for both of them so maybe if the split will happen your btc will remain in poloniex but you can not recieve a free airdrop coin of BCC you can buy it later but not free

Yes they did not publish any news like after this split they will issue free BCC. But people have stored their coins on this website after this split how that coin will treat I am not sure. So converting our bitcoins into altcoins is a good choice. Is there any site that will issue free BCC for our bitcoins?

Hey Polo where are my BCC coins?????????????????????
They never released any news where they stand on the issue.
Most likely they are NOT supporting bitcoin cash (BCC),
so we're probably not going to get our bcc share on poloniex

Most of the famous exchanges have already announced that they are not going to support BCC.But poloniex has said that they would just wait and then decide what to do.So,we could not exactly say that poloniex would give you free BCC for your altcoins, but there is still a chance for you to get free BCC.

i thought only some wallets will give free bcc, maybe will know this week if polo will really give free since there are none who got any of it today, then maybe it's not for now.

Who pulls bitcoin to electrum, there you can control all the keys you have and no worries about it but I'm sure that bitcoin is not born from crypto cognitive.

Yeah that's what I did. I pooled all my bitcoins into a private key I control before the fork happened. However, there is really no reliable way yet to withdraw the BCH from my private keys unless I download their wallet which will take days before I get to download the whole blockchain. I'll just wait for a legitimate wallet similar to electrum for BCH. I don't want to use that electron cash wallet, seems shady to me.

And for those quoting Poloniex to get the benefit of the new BCC, I hope they now know that Polo has a set of new Terms and Services in place. In addition to the change, Polo has asked any who isn't happy with its new laws to close their accounts. No kidding...
