This is Abdelhamid, cofounder at Dether, the world's first Dapp that enables anyone on Earth to buy ether using cash and spend it at physical stores.

Dether is powered by Ethereum smart contracts and available on any smartphone.

We are launching the translation of our website. We want to encourage as many people as possible to participate in the joint effort to translate the website.

The launch of our site dether.io has been a great success and we thank you! Let's make it even more awesome by widening the target audience! Chinese, Russian and Korean translators are the most welcome as the language barrier seems the most significant here but other translation are welcome too!

You don't have to be a qualified translator to perform the task, all you need to have are writing skills so that you can provide a correct, fluent-to-read text for speakers of your language.



How to translate:

• Go to the Dether website (https://crwd.in/dether_io).
• Register to get access to translation module.
• If your language is not present on the list, please send a PM to Seccour (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=75764) or ask us in the Dether Slack channel and we will add it to the project.
• Translation is divided to subpages, which means that some content needs to be translated multiple times but you can do it fast by selecting existing translations from the memory.
• Once finished, it is recommended to proofread the translation (voting). If there's only one person for a language, we can do without it, however.
• If you have any questions regarding crowdin, the best way to address them is via crowdin or our slack, where you can contact us as a project owner.

Creating a peer-to-peer bridge between fiat currency and Ethereum cryptocurrency


With Dether, any ether owner can become a teller and have an accessible way to make money. Ether sellers can become mobile ATMs by being on the Dether map and selling ether for fiat currency anywhere in the world at any time.

Users interested in buying ether can discover ether sellers near them on the Dether map, the app’s built-in location system. The project looks promising and in line with other DEX projects. The only risk that comes to me is the physical localization of the users and their possible identifications.

Hey I like the idea, but I have a couple of questions. Without charging fees, how will Dether be profitable? If the product isn't profitable, giving money to it wouldn't be investing, it would be more like donating. 
Second, is handling transactions like this on a mobile device riskier than on a pc? How are you going to improve security?

Regarding the potential fees, it will be announced later on.

And no it's not riskier than on a pc as long as you take a lot of care of what you're downloading and installing on your phone. Like on a pc. If you download untrusted apps, then if anything bad such as a virus end up it your device it will be your responsibility. But no matter what, the app will be designed to be as secure as possible. A seed will be generated at the start of the application which will then be encrypted and stored on the device where the app is installed.

Dether: Breaking Barriers To Ethereum Mass Adoption


Dether will make it possible for anyone to buy and sell Ether with cash, and to spend it in nearby shops. The company plans to achieve this with a peer-to-peer network they are currently building. The Alpha is expected to be released in Q3 2017.

I am strongly convinced that Ethereum can only go mainstream if several “killer apps” are developed on top of it. The internet needed a search engine to structure all its data. Ethereum needs a platform that enables everybody to acquire Ether.  This is where Dether comes into play.

As this project is of great interest for me, I was lucky enough to interview Hamid, one of the co-founders of Dether.

Hi, having a premium zone indexing system allow to avoid having a spammed map, it will help to keep a quality map. Imagine on big cities where you could have a lot of tellers around, having an auction system to get the exclusivity on a zone, will help to maitain a quality of services. You will see lower number of teller but more willing to sell actively their Ether on this area. So for the buyer side its even better. Its like taxi licence plate, less offer but premium offer.
And I don't understand your point when you say it's contradict with decentralised? Every part of this system will only be ruled by the smart contract. Our mobile application will only read what's on the smart contract directly.

The translation of this thread in Filipino is not correct, my advise is not to get that elegant joylin as your translator, she will make your thread a funny one.
The title of her thread is in different meaning compare to this original thread and the context of the whole OP became different on her version and it is became more difficult for the Filipinos to understand and became funny instead of being easy to understand.

When I made this, the announcement was taken from https://crowdin.com/project/dether_io o Dether Filipino website, where you can see all the documents about Dether and other languages there, status and other activities. But I have made some revision that was overlooked to be translated in English. This is a group effort, there is main translator there, contributors, comments/suggestions, vote for the translated languages and approval of any suggestion. But, being the translator of the ANN here, i'm still responsible for all the text written therein. You have a point about the title, I will consult this first before making any action.

I'm a positive person that embrace failures, that despite having several failures, I try and try and try again. Because in failures, you will learn, at your foundation become firm and stable. Example, is Jack Ma, who from the early age have experienced several failures you can't imagine. Today, he is one of the successful billionaire in the world.

We will also develop a front-end app to allow people to easily send a referral link.
This system could also be used by front-end applications aiming to bring new users of their own.
With an application on top of the protocol and for every seller they will bring onboard, the application will make direct profit.

We can also imagine an application, which allows people to register, and also refer new users.
And we plan to have different levels of referral inside the protocol, with part of the new affiliate going directly to the first affiliate.
We will create our own open source front-end application and encourage anyone to fork it or to plug it to their system,
modify it and bring new users onboard on the protocol on their own and make money from it.
Everyone will benefit, as we want to create this standard for OTC trades and payments in-shop.
