Title: Canaan & AvalonMiner - Legit? $18k Investment
Post by: kurkan88 on July 25, 2017, 11:50:30 PM
Dears,

Is Canaan the seller of AvalonMiner is trusted?

Any idea what does it mean - Manual Payment? I just ordered and selected manual payment, not sure what does it mean.

Anyway, i can't get Antminer S9 so a group of friends including me actually needs to invest $18k. Is it worth it to invest and getting AvalonMiner? Do we have other choices for investment?

Please share any info about Canaan and your opinion about the $18k best investment.

One more question, does SegWit will drop the price of BTC? why "Bitcoin Cash" owners say that they will be the next Bitcoin?

Thanks

Canaan is highly trusted so have no fears working with them. Their 1 weak point is timely communications, it is best to always use their Ticket system for talking to them as it seems that email is more for status updates and email replies have to be manually inputted into the Ticket system (delays).

I know "Manual Payment' is for paying with BTC, not sure if they do CC or PayPal (doubt it).
They will contact you with the BTC price and the wallet address to send it to.

I would spend the money with them but I have some caveats .

If you are usa based  2500 and under should be duty free  18000 would be at least 3% duty = 500

Second if you click manual payment and pay in btc it is slow  to get the bill
If you click bank payment they are a bit faster to send billing.

I ordered 1 unit on thurs last week clicked manual  and was billed this morning I sent in btc today

this happens to btc buyers

I must add that the threshold is PER_SHIPMENT being processed by FedEx/Customs so if you try to get around that by making multiple smaller orders you better be sure they ship out at least a week or more apart so they are not processed at the same time.

Also be aware that when US Customs applies Duty they also notify the State where the goods are shipped to. If your state collects sales tax on out-of-state/internet purchases the state will bill you for taxes due. Been there - done that...

Or perhaps have several different people place orders and ship to their different addresses?

Then again, since you are planning making sizeable income: Register as a business. Then most things including cost of the miners, electric, etc, become deductions from reported income. Even better -- ref the IRS Section 179 new equipment purchase deductions :) http://www.section179.org/section_179_deduction.html

I've purchased from them and had no problem and would buy from them again. They are legit. I'm hoping they build a miner like the Bitmain R4 for quit home mining to heat my house in the winter.
