Practical Application

In Greek mythology, Delphy is the ancient sanctuary where Apollo, the God of Light, consulted with his preferred oracle. Delphy prediction markets hope to leverage the wisdom of crowds to forecast future events and even create the future.

Financial Forecast

New financial instruments, more refined than existing derivatives, will provide asset managers with more accurate tools to hedge risks. Prediction markets can bring more nuanced and detailed representations of economic events to better represent value (and risk) at the macro and micro levels of the economy and financial markets.

Insurance Products

The Delphy prediction market could be used to predict the probability of an event to help price risk. These could include events not covered by traditional insurance products, such as extreme natural disasters, earthquakes, and hurricanes. Participation in the forecast market can effectively hedge possible loss of people and property.

Sports Betting

Prediction markets have huge potential to build sports betting markets. Will Los Angeles win their bid to host the 2028 Olympic Games? Decentralized sports prediction markets lower the threshold for participation, ensure the platform’s transparency and prevent fraud or a central entity’s collapse. News and Entertainment

Forecasting the news and entertainment industry has a wide range of applications, such as reality TV show competitions (The Bachelor/Bachelorette winner, etc.), program ratings forecast, movie box office forecast or international current affairs forecast. Much of the value of companies in Hollywood is already based on the movie box office expectations.

Internal Forecasts

Enterprises, governments, schools and other institutions can use internal prediction markets to more accurately time product launches or better understand company sentiment for a company’s expected sales or a new shares issuance. Google, Microsoft, HP, Intel, Motorola, Siemens have already used internal prediction markets to their advantage. The US military has also set a "policy analysis market" to predict future global events.

Games

While there are many legitimate real-life uses for prediction markets, Delphy can also be used as embedded game play with friends and family. Delphy’s API can be used to provide prediction market game playing methods and mechanisms to players instead of relying on game developers themselves.



ICO Details

Delphy will issue a token DPY based on the ERC20 standard with a total of 100 million. The allocation is as follows:

The ICO will release 26%(26 million DPY tokens).

During the ICO, 18 million DPY tokens(18%) will be released in the seed round, and 8 million DPY tokens(8%)will be released in the second round.

Team holding 10%:

10 million DPY tokens(10%) will be assigned to the founders and development team (tokens will be locked in 1 year, cannot be circulated, and then linearly released within two years after the end of the lock).

Pre-ICO 5%:

5 million DPY tokens(5%) will be distributed to early investors(locked for 6 months).

Decision-making & Scientific research 9%:

5 million DPY tokens (5%) will be used by the decision-making committee to encourage ecological construction; 4 million DPY tokens (4%) will be used for scientific research and legal compliance.

The remaining 50 million DPY tokens(50%) will be released to all DPY holders including team members, free of charge, at the rate of 1:1 in a linear manner on monthly basis since Oct 1st , 2017( each month distribution would be based on the snapshot of DPY holding at a certain point of time in each month).

August 13, 20:00 - August 31, 19:59, Delphy App will release a beta version and initiate its trial run. It will begin cooperation with Gnosis and other vertical applications in the industry. By then, Delphy will open a series of forecasting markets to predict whether these partnerships and cooperation are successful.

The second round (8 million DPY, 8%)

   August 31, 20:00 - September 5, 19:59, each ETH can exchange 250 DPY tokens.
During the ICO, 18 million DPY (18%) will be released in the seed round and 8 million (8%) DPY will be released in the second round. The system will additionally release, free of charge, another 50 million DPY (50%) to DPY holders at the rate of 1:1 in a linear manger on a monthly basis over the following 2 years (each monthly distribution would be based on the snapshot of DPY holding at certain point of time in each month).

I generated my ETH address on the icoage site and deposited some ether.  But under "Invested Information" it says ETH合计 0.00000. 
Under "My Account Information", it has the correct number of ether i deposited.

First, hope you all had a very merry Christmas and happy New Year! The past week is also happy and productive for the Delphy team. We are very pleased to announce our second weekly progress updates, which covers topics like product updates, marketing updates, and our plans for this coming week. We thank you for your continuous attention and support!

Product updates:

The front-end display and interaction tests have been completed
Both Android and iOS App are under packaging test. Deployment environment is ready and we have finished the preparation for the app launch.
Front-ends of the following sections, My Prediction, Discover, Personal Homepage and Market Details have been finished in H5 version.
We have started working on the back-end APIs, such as signing up, logging in and account inquiries, etc.
After connecting with third-party oracles, we have tested the interface of creating prediction market to ensure that any information comes from third parties will be accurate.
We designed the back-end toat improve the user experience when deposit and withdraw DPY tokens.
API with imToken has been re-confirmed.

Marketing Updates:

After the new website launched, pre-registration for Chinese market started on Dec 20, 2017, which was well received by the market. Registration totaled over 10,000 within the first 2 hours.
We continue to negotiate and build relationships with several vertical platforms and communities to integrate the Delphy App into 3rd party products.
Launch on a new exchange has been confirmed.
Delphy China team had an AMA with our Chinese contributors in the evening of Dec 26, 2017. Product updates, marketing updates and ongoing promotion plans have been communicated. Don’t worry. Soon Delphy will have AMA with our international communities.

Working Plans for the Coming Week:

We will continue developing the front-end for buying and selling functions in H5 version.
Development of back-end interfaces of trading and appealing function are in progress.
Continue to improve the user experience, as we start to focus on the improvement of website loading.

We plan to have our intial H5 version and Delphy App launched in Chinese language this moth. For now, we are having our second-round internal testing with invitation only Chinese community members.

We are making great progress, here are the key highlights and updates from our team:


Product Updates:

- Optimized the reconstruction of the transaction record cache module
- Optimized the likes, follows and other interactive cache logic
- Finalized the system adapter and function joint test of H5 front-end page for Android and iOS
- Improved the PC-side CMS, modified the pending settlement, settlement and other market management functions. (Note: To improve the - operation management system)
- 67 bugs were discovered during the first batch of internal testing. Delphy team has fixed those and incorporated tester’s feedback.


Market Updates:

- Delphy’s Post-ICO bounty program came to an end on Feb 20th, 2018. Delphy team and our bounty administrator Bounty0x, are authenticating the bounty submissions, will distribute stakes for each bounty campaign in each category very soon.
- Delphy China product team has launched second-batch of internal testing, invitation-only to the Delphy Chinese Community.

Where did Delphy project come from?

Why blockchain plays a vital role in prediction markets?

First, prediction markets existed before the blockchain. In the United States, there were many prediction markets, one of the most famous prediction markets was Intrade. Primarily, Intrade focused on U.S. presidential elections and predictions based on the stock market transactions. In fact, from 2004 to 2012, Intrade’s predictions on the US presidential election were very accurate.

This concept was further accepted by big companies like Google, GE, Hewlett-Packard, etc., that began making decisions through prediction markets. Essentially, it is well accepted that the prediction markets have great value for democratic decision-making, information exploration, and intelligence sharing.

However, centralized implementations have resulted in fundamental shortcoming — a lack of trust amongst the exchanges, traders and government entities. The peer-to-peer blockchain technology can store all trading data on an immutable public blockchain, which demonstrates fair, accurate and tamper-proof prediction results.

Can prediction results really reflect participants’ real thoughts?

A key feature of prediction markets is to provide financial incentives to well-informed participants to share their wisdom regarding the potential outcome of upcoming events. As a result, when their predictions are accurate they are financially rewarded.

What’s the difference between Delphy and other prediction market projects, like Augur, Gnosis, etc？

Undoubtedly, Augur is the first prediction markets project to be built on blockchain. Augur issued REP token, which will provide a fully decentralized Oracle mechanism for prediction results, by asking the REP holder to vote for the results. However, it’s been over 2 years since their ICO and Augur still doesn’t even have a roadmap of when they are going to launch their platform.

Gnosis had its ICO early last year. But the GNO token which was issued is mainly for crowdfunding purpose, rather than to utilize the token. Gnosis has a very big blueprint, including wallet, exchange, etc. Like Augur, they don’t have any solid plan on their product launch.

For Delphy, from the very beginning, we know that our strategy is to launch the product. We plan to have cryptocurrency related prediction markets first, then we may extend to other categories, like sports, entertainment, etc. The initial product launch will be in the China market, then Southeast Asia, lastly English-speaking international markets.

Delphy plans to provide the best user interface and user experience, that will enable many users to take advantage of the wisdom of crowd. At this point, we have over 200,000 pre-registers to our platform. We have commenced the invitation-only internal testing by inviting our engaged community members to help us with bug-finding and UI/UX improvement.

Delphy has established the partnership with imToken, a wallet company with over 500,000 users, Cointime.com (also known as Jinse Finance), THE most influential blockchain based media platforms in China, with over 120,000 UV and over 500,000 PV daily in average. Delphy is also working to build partnership with exchanges. All of the wallet companies, media and exchanges can bring their existing users from their platforms to Delphy’s prediction markets, and on the other hand, more people can take advantage of the wisdom of crowd. It’s worth mentioning that although Delphy’s initial product launch is to China market, Chinese participants’ view on the crypto world is very important to international community. Whilst in the beginning our international community cannot participant in the predictions, but they still can benefit from the results.

What’s the current product update?
Delphy is currently in an invitation-only internal testing stage. We invited community members to make predictions on our platform, and they are providing us with valuable feedback. We also plan to invite blockchain influencers to open sessions on Delphy’s platform, essentially they can initiate their own predictive topics and have their followers participate in the prediction markets. We are also thinking of inviting third-party vertical platforms, that have existing user base, to create prediction markets that their users are most interested to participate.

How do you compare Delphy and Bodhi?
Delphy is the first prediction markets platform on the blockchain in China. Delphy is built on Ethereum, whereas Bodhi is built on the Qtum blockchain. It is well known fact that, Ethereum is more well-developed than Qtum.

Another big difference is that Delphy’s goal is to deliver the roadmap we promised to our community, for which we are working very hard towards our product launch. Additionally, Delphy’s prediction markets platform will be easy to access, fun to participate, provide market incentives and low transaction fees that will guarantee easy of use and motivate users to actively participate in making predictions. We are very confident that we can do a great job!

What’s the difference between prediction markets and betting?
This question has been asked many times. Prediction markets is absolutely not gambling.

Delphy will provide a platform on which anyone can initiate a prediction market at any time. The market is open and transparent. He/she can invite friends to make predictions, share information and benefit from the wisdom of crowd.

In fact, a prediction market is a judgment on probability. We are making judgments all the time in our lives. These judgments are basically based on probability. A lot of times, we don’t even realize that we are actually making judgments based on the probability. However, on the other hand, we can’t call all judgments based on the probability betting.

To make a prediction based on probability is essentially an objective of fact. The whole world needs prediction markets. In order to fully legitimize the prediction markets, there were more than 20 scientists in the United States (including 4 Nobel laureates) who jointly wrote to the US Congress, because prediction markets can help with making correct decision, or take corresponding actions based on the prediction results. Currently, many large companies in the United States are using prediction markets to help gather opinions internally, then make wise decisions that will have a positive impact on ROI (Return on investment).

China is in the process of internationalization, and a lot of Chinese citizens have great access to the outside world. If by using prediction markets, their wisdom could be collected, I believe it will help with the government’s decision-making. Therefore, prediction market itself can bring tremendous value to the whole society.

On the other hand, on Delphy’s platform, we have limitation on the number and amount of users’ transactions. And the buying and selling prices are also placed between 0 and 1, at a relatively low range. All of these will ensure the prediction markets become a mechanism for information discovery and wisdom sharing, rather than being manipulated as a mechanism for betting.

In general, prediction market is a very good information discovery mechanism with social value.

Delphy announces Re-brand Ahead of Predictive Markets Platform Launch

Delphy, a predictive markets platform, today announced the company’s rebrand ahead of the launch of the mobile platform later this year. The new brand highlights the humane focused interface, fun identity and overall value propositions of the Delphy brand, and introduces a redesigned logo, positioning, and website. The rebranding is coordinated by leading advertising agency Ogilvy, Spain (CMA).


Delphy tests individuals’ knowledge of political, financial, and sporting events by allowing users to make and invest in predictions. Those who correctly anticipate the outcomes of events are rewarded. By channelling the wisdom of the crowd, Delphy can make accurate, data-driven predictions about future events, and eliminates the need for traditional forecasting methods. Over 200,000 people have pre-registered to use the platform, ahead of the official release.


With new messaging and visuals, Delphy reasserts its position within a growing prediction markets industry. The revamped logo and website imbues Delphy with a distinct, fun identity and humane interface focused platform; while its whitepaper and social media channels have also been overhauled to describe the new appearance and features of Delphy’s mobile platform. Ogilvy’s rebrand to infuse new life into the project, and encourages fresh interest in the platform ahead of its official launch later this year.

The Story of My Relationship with the Blockchain

Delphy Founder Bo Wang, was invited as a keynote speaker to participate in the “Learn the important aspects of the Blockchain” investment and sharing event, organized by Zero2IPO Group on March 6, 2018. The event was well attended by blockchain investors, traditional finance industry and block-chain enthusiasts, with over 50 attendees.


Bo chose the topic, “The Story of My Relationship with the Blockchain” which described how he initially explored blockchain technologies.

In 2009, Bo stumbled into Bitcoin; however, at that point he wasn’t fully convinced about the concept. In 2013, he met David Johnston, co-founder of Factom who told him that he was a was a true believer in Bitcoin and not only bought Bitcoin at $10, he went all in. To everyone’s surprise by the end of 2013, Bitcoin’s price had soared to over $1,000. After that realization, Bo began researching into blockchain technology and Bitcoin.

In 2013, many Blockchain startups began to emerge such as Bitshares, Ethereum. In fact, Bo was one of the ICO investors for Ethereum project. Now, he actively participated in most Ethereum community events and got introduced to Bo Shen, renowned investor and advisor in Chinese Blockchain industry. Bo shared an interesting story- in order to build a Chinese community Vitalik lived at Bo Shen’s house for several months where he learnt to speak in Mandarin so he could connect and build the community.

Bo’s own experience in investing Ethereum started him thinking about his own ICO project. Together with other co-founders, they decided to create a public chain to store and retrieve data, Factom. At that point, Factom spent a lot of time to learn and explore what’s the best process to conduct an ICO. They chose to destroy all the unsold tokens after the ICO. However, this decision led to the Factom Foundation short of funding to manage and operating the community. Luckily, a new partner joined Factom who provided Foundation with funding assistance. In 2015, with the help of successful marketing initiatives, Factom, as a strong blockchain-based technology company, increased its global presence. The price of FCT, Factom token, skyrocketed from 10 cent at ICO to the highest of $39.

In August, 2016, Bo decided to go back to China and co-found Wanglu Technology. Then he made up his mind that he would develop an application based on blockchain- Delphy, Prediction markets platform!

In August of 2017, Delphy successfully crowd-funded 60,000 Ether and then immediately got DPY, Delphy token, listed on gate.io. Before the team could celebrate their ICO success, Chinese government issued an ICO ban which also impacted Delphy, as we had to return tokens to several Chinese investors.

Bo truly believes in the prediction markets and how the wisdom of crowd will make the world more predictable. He announced that later this month, Delphy will launch its prediction markets mobile application for the China market. The testimony of Delphy’s popularity resonates in the fact that over 200,000 have pre-registers for our application and with all the partnerships, Delphy expects to have around 1,000,000 users after product launch.

Why blockchain plays a vital role in prediction markets?
First, prediction markets existed before the blockchain. In the United States, there were many prediction markets, one of the most famous prediction markets was Intrade. Primarily, Intrade focused on U.S. presidential elections and predictions based on the stock market transactions. In fact, from 2004 to 2012, Intrade’s predictions on the US presidential election were very accurate.


This concept was further accepted by big companies like Google, GE, Hewlett-Packard, etc., that began making decisions through prediction markets. Essentially, it is well accepted that the prediction markets have great value for democratic decision-making, information exploration, and intelligence sharing.


However, centralized implementations have resulted in fundamental shortcoming — a lack of trust amongst the exchanges, traders and government entities. The peer-to-peer blockchain technology can store all trading data on an immutable public blockchain, which demonstrates fair, accurate and tamper-proof prediction results.


Can prediction results really reflect participants’ real thoughts?
A key feature of prediction markets is to provide financial incentives to well-informed participants to share their wisdom regarding the potential outcome of upcoming events. As a result, when their predictions are accurate they are financially rewarded.


What’s the difference between Delphy and other prediction market projects, like Augur, Gnosis, etc？
Undoubtedly, Augur is the first prediction markets project to be built on blockchain. Augur issued REP token, which will provide a fully decentralized Oracle mechanism for prediction results, by asking the REP holder to vote for the results. However, it’s been over 2 years since their ICO and Augur still doesn’t even have a roadmap of when they are going to launch their platform.


Gnosis had its ICO early last year. But the GNO token which was issued is mainly for crowdfunding purpose, rather than to utilize the token. Gnosis has a very big blueprint, including wallet, exchange, etc. Like Augur, they don’t have any solid plan on their product launch.


For Delphy, from the very beginning, we know that our strategy is to launch the product. We plan to have cryptocurrency related prediction markets first, then we may extend to other categories, like sports, entertainment, etc. The initial product launch will be in the China market, then Southeast Asia, lastly English-speaking international markets.


Delphy plans to provide the best user interface and user experience, that will enable many users to take advantage of the wisdom of crowd. At this point, we have over 200,000 pre-registers to our platform. We have commenced the invitation-only internal testing by inviting our engaged community members to help us with bug-finding and UI/UX improvement.


Delphy has established the partnership with imToken, a wallet company with over 500,000 users, Cointime.com (also known as Jinse Finance), THE most influential blockchain based media platforms in China, with over 120,000 UV and over 500,000 PV daily in average. Delphy is also working to build partnership with exchanges. All of the wallet companies, media and exchanges can bring their existing users from their platforms to Delphy’s prediction markets, and on the other hand, more people can take advantage of the wisdom of crowd. It’s worth mentioning that although Delphy’s initial product launch is to China market, Chinese participants’ view on the crypto world is very important to international community. Whilst in the beginning our international community cannot participant in the predictions, but they still can benefit from the results.


What’s the current product update?
Delphy is currently in an invitation-only internal testing stage. We invited community members to make predictions on our platform, and they are providing us with valuable feedback. We also plan to invite blockchain influencers to open sessions on Delphy’s platform, essentially they can initiate their own predictive topics and have their followers participate in the prediction markets. We are also thinking of inviting third-party vertical platforms, that have existing user base, to create prediction markets that their users are most interested to participate.


How do you compare Delphy and Bodhi?
Delphy is the first prediction markets platform on the blockchain in China. Delphy is built on Ethereum, whereas Bodhi is built on the Qtum blockchain. It is well known fact that, Ethereum is more well-developed than Qtum.


Another big difference is that Delphy’s goal is to deliver the roadmap we promised to our community, for which we are working very hard towards our product launch. Additionally, Delphy’s prediction markets platform will be easy to access, fun to participate, provide market incentives and low transaction fees that will guarantee easy of use and motivate users to actively participate in making predictions. We are very confident that we can do a great job!


What’s the difference between prediction markets and betting?
This question has been asked many times. Prediction markets is absolutely not gambling.

Delphy will provide a platform on which anyone can initiate a prediction market at any time. The market is open and transparent. He/she can invite friends to make predictions, share information and benefit from the wisdom of crowd.

In fact, a prediction market is a judgment on probability. We are making judgments all the time in our lives. These judgments are basically based on probability. A lot of times, we don’t even realize that we are actually making judgments based on the probability. However, on the other hand, we can’t call all judgments based on the probability betting.

To make a prediction based on probability is essentially an objective of fact. The whole world needs prediction markets. In order to fully legitimize the prediction markets, there were more than 20 scientists in the United States (including 4 Nobel laureates) who jointly wrote to the US Congress, because prediction markets can help with making correct decision, or take corresponding actions based on the prediction results. Currently, many large companies in the United States are using prediction markets to help gather opinions internally, then make wise decisions that will have a positive impact on ROI (Return on investment).

China is in the process of internationalization, and a lot of Chinese citizens have great access to the outside world. If by using prediction markets, their wisdom could be collected, I believe it will help with the government’s decision-making. Therefore, prediction market itself can bring tremendous value to the whole society.

On the other hand, on Delphy’s platform, we have limitation on the number and amount of users’ transactions. And the buying and selling prices are also placed between 0 and 1, at a relatively low range. All of these will ensure the prediction markets become a mechanism for information discovery and wisdom sharing, rather than being manipulated as a mechanism for betting.


In general, prediction market is a very good information discovery mechanism with social value.

Summary of Delphy Founder Bo Wang’s Interview with ErduoFinance


Leading Chinese blockchain media ErduoFinance which has previously profiled various blockchain celebrities, reached out to Delphy for an exclusive interview with our visionary founder Bo Wang.

Bo Wang possesses practical experience in the application and development of blockchain technology. Bo elaborated on the notable role of predictions markets and blockchain technology and how the two concepts are naturally intertwined with each other. Below is the summary of the interview.

Prediction markets are a natural and easy-to-launch application in the blockchain industry
Blockchain technology brings in a new world of concepts and ideas. We were looking for native applications on the blockchain, with a business model, easy-to-launch and with market demand- prediction markets platform is exactly what we are looking for.

Prediction market are not new - In 1503, people began to predict the succession of the pope. In modern times, prediction markets gradually commercialized. For instance, Intrade prediction markets was a renowned American economic and political prediction markets web platform. The accuracy of their results was even better than that of public opinion surveys. It was often cited by various mainstream media and thus potentially effected the U.S. election.

Traditional prediction markets can do the following: 1. Efficiently collect diverse and dispersed information; 2. Provide an effective and transparent incentive mechanism to obtain relevant realities; 3. Provide an almost real-time information update mechanism so that manipulating the results becomes quite difficult. For example, Consensus Point, whose Chief Scientist is Robin Hanson, the father of prediction markets, accurately predicts markets at 92%.

However, traditional prediction markets are not that perfect and come with various problems, such as the inability of the centralized platform to prove its fairness sans manipulations, the limitations of financial supervision, and the lack of attention. In the 2012 election, Wall Street supported candidate Romney and tried to use $8 million to influence the election results. This was the case with Intrade prediction markets, as they found difficult to prove the fairness and sans manipulations in their predictions.

The existence of the blockchain technology not only deters market manipulation via predictions, but also makes it possible to turn those predictions into transactions. The blockchain technology provides: 1, the data can not be tampered with; 2, token incentive mechanism; 3, decentralization. Decentralization can reflect the wisdom of crowds.

Become the “TaoBao” of Prediction Markets Platform in Blockchain Industry

Augur crowdfunded 20,000 bitcoins and 1.1 million Ethereums since the publication of the White Paper in 2014, worth about $5.5 million, but has not launched the product yet. Delphy’s prototype was released in August last year, and currently is in the second-round internal testing. We are committed at delivering our roadmap, and it is clear that Delphy implements faster than Augur.

Delphy is the first decentralized prediction markets platform in China. The prediction markets community needs strong operations and management, which is exactly the strength of Chinese organisations. Delphy hopes to build a “Taobao platform” for prediction markets based on the blockchain technology. Anybody can “open stores”, which means to create prediction topics on Delphy platform, our platform will first be launched in China and then start working towards our international launch.

Generation of DPY token
Delphy has issued a DPY Token based on Ethereum Smart Contracts and with ERC-20 compliance. When a participant makes a prediction about any future event on the Delphy platform, DPY must be used to purchase the share(s) of an outcome of the event. Those who predict accurately will be rewarded with DPY.

Delphy uses Logarithmic Market Scoring Rule(LMSR) to reflect the market’s evaluation of each event outcome. LMSR provides the greatest liquidity for markets as “the number of shares is unlimited, there is no fixed amount”. Shares can be bought and sold at any time before settlement.

When a user wants to create a prediction market, a loss limit must be determined by the creator to calculate the creator’s potential loss. The higher loss limit is, the greater the loss the creator may suffer, yet the more liquidity the market has, and the less impact participants have on the price when they buy more shares.

Information is real-time. Everyone is free to participate and change their decisions at any time until a credible result is finally released.

The difference between prediction markets and betting
Prediction markets can help people understand the potential outcome of an event, which is both meaningful and profound. For example, the U.S. election prediction result can help assess financial risks; public expectations to house prices can serve as a reference for the government’s macro-control; whether predictions can help farmers gather information and hedge against extreme weather risks. In addition, the incentive value of the prediction markets will be controlled within a certain range, therefore it will not involve a large amount of ​​risk, and the impact on the society will be very limited.

In the past, insurance and securities were once regarded as betting methods, while today people have fully accepted them as economic tools to help fix our practical problems.

Essentially, most of the decentralized applications have a corresponding existence in the centralized world. These are totally two different worlds. They do not cross one another. The experience Delphy would like to share with new entrepreneurs is to seriously consider what the benefits of blockchain technology and how it can solve real problems.

Delphy Official Announcement: No SMT Smart Contract Vulnerability for Delphy Code


Dear Delphy Community,

Recently, hackers exploited a flaw in SmartMesh’s (SMT) ERC20 smart contract, which resulted in a large number of tokens being received through overflow attacks. Delphy has analyzed this breach and reviewed our code to insure the Delphy project and community will not suffer the same problems. Delphy is making an official announcement to our community that, we have checked our code and can now confirm that there’s no vulnerability to Delphy code.

At present , Delphy has completed the source certification of the token contract on Etherscan. Anyone can view the source code through the following link:

The vulnerabilities in SMT’s ERC-20 token contract occur in the passing of uint256 variable to a function without the safeguard of checking for making mathematical operations overflow. The will result in the skip of the balance check and allow people can transfer any amount of tokens.

As can be seen in the source code, the contract Delphy Token(DPY) contract inherits directly from the Standard Token contract. In the Standard Token contract, two functions, Transfer and Transfer From, are both involved in mathematical operations.

For these two functions, all calculations will call Math.safeToAdd or Math.safeToSub before execution to ensure that no overflow occurs. Therefore, the smart contract for Delphy DPY tokens will not be affected by this vulnerability.

Bo Wang was invited to Beyond Blocks Summit Tokyo, where he discussed “ The Role of Governance in Asian Markets” as a panel member on April 4–5, 2018.


Bo Wang was invited to attend and speak on a blockchain and digital assets investment summit — Look at the Blockchain Industry in a Future Perspective, in Shenzhen, China on April 7th, 2018. In his speech, he discussed the evolution of the industry from the conception of Bitcoin and the current state of the blockchain industry. Bo Wang, Founder of Delphy, the first prediction market platform in China, emphasized that making predictions is not only a recent fad but also a basic, on-going human desire; humans crave fairness, justice and pursuit of effective knowledge. The blockchain technology has accelerated it’s progress, that is embedded in the ecology and mechanism of prediction markets. Bo gave an enthusiastic speech about Evolution of Blockchain to the audience of Blockchain Investment Forum in Shenzhen, China.


In 2009, when Bitcoin whitepaper was first published on Hacker News, it was indeed the must-read paper for all technical geeks. At that point in time the paper did not resonate with the most readers as most perceived it to be a fantasy of a few enthusiasts.


When Bo came back to America in 2013, one of his friends told him that he was a was a true believer in Bitcoin and not only bought Bitcoin at $10, he went all in, when the Bitcoin price was $500. After that realization, Bo began researching into blockchain technology and Bitcoin. After research, he understood that it could really fix real problems.


Let’s take a look at Ethereum, the two most meaningful tasks Ethereum has accomplished are:


Smart contract to automate some very simple tasks on smart contracts.

The other is to create the ICO. Actually, the first ICO was done by MasterCoin, but Ethereum made an innovation to ICO. Vitalik hired the best lawyers in the world and created a whole set of legal framework in Switzerland. This legal framework can both protect investors and founders of projects. So they did ICO from July to August 2014. This ICO was a legal fundraising act under a real legal framework with bitcoins, rather than fiat. During the process, Ethereum had crowdfunded around $17 million worth of Bitcoins.

The ICO model ignited a wave of funding for blockchain projects. In spite of the fact that last year ICO’s were banned in China, many projects have the chance to get investment under legal conditions, which helps the blockchain industry to facilitate the product launch faster and easier.


News is all about reporting on past events or events that are happening, but in fact what we are most concerned about what will happen in the future and the value this news event will have in the future. If we know in advance what will happen in the future, we will know what we want to do and what we should do. Delphy, the prediction market platform, is a tool to help you predict the future and realize the future. Today, I will not talk about Delphy, but I’d like to share with you my learning from my recent trips global-wise. Maybe these will be some opportunities for you.


Bo just came back from Japan and one thing he noticed very interesting is there’s no one dominant media in Japan. Even with the huge population in China, there are several dominant multi-media outlets which could provide one-stop global-wise information for the users. But it’s totally a different story in Japan. The Japanese media landscape comprises of many small or medium sized influential media which could dominate an industry or a region, but there isn’t one media conglomerate that can cover it all. This might be a huge opportunity.


Bo also met and discussed with some projects who focus on quantitative trading in Japan and Russia, that have very strong technical backgrounds. Additionally, both projects comprise of experts in quantitative trading who’ve had experience in making a fortune in both the stock market and cryptocurrency world. In China, the market is even bigger, therefore, experts in China blockchain industry needs to work very hard to catch up with these top techniques.


During Bo’s trip to Russia, he noticed a trend in blockchain industry. Russia would like to invite and help move the mining companies from China to Russia, because the cost of electricity is very low in Russia. They spoke with many mining companies in China and even offered to disassemble the mining machines into parts first, transport them, then assemble them back, which could effectively avoid the high taxes. The reality is some of the Chinese mining companies have moved to Russia, while others are still speculating.


Another strategic move in the blockchain industry in Japan is focusing more on mining than before. Actually, Japan is very famous in strong chip design capability, but in the past they looked down on mining. But finally, they are awakened and have started to design chips with very high quality standards. With the developing of the mining industry, Japan begins to regard it as a renewable energy. One disadvantage of mining industry in Japan is that 55% of tax will be levies on the value cryptocurrencies mined, which is an appalling rate!


Finally, it’s been well accepted that mining, wallets and exchanges are the most important strategies in the blockchain industry. Hope this speech can give you some ideas which could help you with your exploration in the blockchain industry.

We are glad to update you that Hecaijing, renowned media outlet in the blockchain industry in China interviewed Bo Wang, Founder of Delphy. Bo introduced Delphy’s prediction markets platform and shared his own experience in the blockchain industry and his advice to new entrepreneurs who would plan to join in the blockchain industry.


Hecaijing: Hi Bo, could you please introduce yourself and and your entrepreneurship experience in the blockchain industry?


Bo Wang: Hi, thank you for having me here, I am Bo Wang and I started my journey in blockchain industry since 2013. At that time, people talked more about bitcoin than blockchain. My friend, David Johnson, entrepreneur and the co-founder of Factom, told me that he was a true believer in Bitcoin and not only bought Bitcoin at $10, he went all in. You know the bitcoin price was $500 the moment he told me about it. Before I thought it’s unbelievable to issue digital assets on the internet, but after this, I researched everything about bitcoin and realized that Bitcoin can truly allow online payments to be sent directly from one peer to another, which can resolve the problem of relying too much on the third party due to the lack of trust between the two parties.


Then we started to search for the next “bitcoin”. We found Ethereum, a better version of bitcoin as it allows anyone to write smart contracts and decentralized applications! In 2014, we noticed Augur and that’s where we started our interest and research about prediction markets. In 2017, Delphy Foundation was registered in Singapore, then we crowd funded, started to build our community, and have been working very hard on the product development. And now, we are very proud to announce that Delphy will launch our product in June!!


Hecaijing: The FIFA World Cup 2018 Russia is approaching. What do you think of the combination of the World Cup and blockchain?


Bo Wang: Generally speaking, most of the blockchain projects can be divided into 2 categories, Public Chain and Decentralized Application. Public Chain, take Ethereum as an example, is to create an alternative protocol, or foundation, for building decentralized applications.


Delphy is on a journey to a fully decentralized prediction market ecosystem, and now our initial step is a Decentralized Application. From the very beginning, we believe that prediction market is one of the best application in the blockchain industry, which can bring social value. For example, some American government agencies, like CIA, used to use prediction markets to improve upon existing approaches to preparing strategic intelligence.


We also noticed that prediction market is a new concept in China, but as in the rest of the world. Prediction markets can help Chinese government and companies make effective and efficient decisions. That’s why we chose prediction market to be our project, as the product can be launched, there’s a real business model, there are extensive application markets, and people can truly like and enjoy it.


After over a year’s hard-working, Delphy will launch our product this June, which is right before the FIFA World Cup 2018 Russia, and we do have plans to take advantage of the once of every 4 years occasion. For example, there’s will be a World Cup session on Delphy App, where you can not only predict the games, but also related topics, such as the players, cultures, values, etc. We will bring interesting and fun experience to you, more than just the game itself. We will also have various kinds of promotions and prizes up for grab, stay tuned, more details will be disclosed soon.


Hecaijing: As an early blockchain investor and a successful entrepreneur, could you please give some suggestions and advice to the new entrepreneurs in the blockchain industry?


Bo Wang: I am a serial entrepreneur and have been in blockchain industry for quite some years, the first advice I’d like to give is to make sure this project is what you really want to do before you take action.


On one hand, crowdfunding makes the project a lifetime “liability” to the founder. Compared with a couple of VC investors, crowdfunding makes the founder face a community, a lot of time it’s an international community. You are responsible for them and this responsibility is difficult to hand over to others, which means you have to make sure this project is or can be a lifetime project for you, then you are ready to work hard for it and together with your community.


On the other hand, crypto exchanges don’t close, it’s 24*7, international community doesn’t shut down, it’s 24*7, which results in the pressure to the founder is 24*7. So are you ready to face this tremendous pressure? This is another reason that I suggest you think twice before you jump into a project.


The second advice to you is that perseverance is the key and it’s really a marathon. Crowdfunding probably is the easiest step, while to launch a product, and to launch it faster and better than your competitors, then to realize the internationalization are all huge challenges.


There are tons of opportunities in the blockchain industry. If you make sure it’s your lifetime dream and are prepared, then welcome to the high-paced, huge-pressured, and exciting industry full of potential!

I don't really get the purpose of the project, is it predictions for betting? you mentioned sports. If not, what is the use of these predictions? how do I know they are not biased?

With the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia approaching, Delphy is very pleased to announce our strategic partnership with Math Wallet, an organization in the MediShares’ ecosystem, the world’s first insured crypto wallet ! Both projects will collaborate to feature numerous prediction markets around the much-awaited World Cup. The winning pool of the various World Cup prediction can reach up to around US$150,000.
