I thought that it is already a success in bitcoin segwit and no split was gonna happened?
Do i still need to sell all my bitcoins before august 1?

If you ask me better sell before August 1st if you are looking to sell before it dumps... some exchanges are telling clients that they are going to freeze bitcoin which may raise concerns and cause price to drop. First of all bip91 is not activated yet from my knowledge, if you are here for a long run just keep your coins somewhere where you have access to your keys and you should be fine, price should boost up later on.

Nobody knows what will happen, it is your decission after all don't let some random anon person to advise you on your financial decisions... If you ask me it should be all alright, but this is not even 100% that UASF will not take place. Sit down and enjoy the ride.

Even if BIP148 takes place it doesn't guarantee an instant split.

I don't understand the relationship between split and selling.
Of course, some want everybody to panic sell now, since they're buying. And when everybody will see that nothing actually happened, they'll want to buy; and when everybody is buying, oh joy!

(If you want to make sure you will get coins from both forks if there will be a split, then you should store your Bitcoin in a wallet on your computer.)

No need to sell your bitcoins.If you still have a fear of hard fork,just withdraw your bitcoins from exchange and store it in your wallet in your pc.It should be done because most of exchanges may suspend withdrawal and deposit of bitcoins for 24 to 48 hours during hard fork.Also,don't do any transactions during august 1.Just do these things and then your bitcoins would be safe.

BIP 91 has activated.  Right now, >95% of blocks in a difficulty period have to signal for BIP 141 (SegWit) for it to lock in, and then it would activate one difficulty period after that.  To see the progress of SegWit, go here (https://coin.dance/blocks)

This does not prevent a split.  The hype for UASF (BIP 148) has died down, but "Bitcoin Cash", a fork of Bitcoin, will be created on August 1st regardless of support.

You never did.  To do it in a time of panic like this would be plain dumb.

As far I know a spilt won't happen that's my gut feel according to all the news happening round. Now your question to sell well it's difficult to answer you should consider different scenarios, we'll If you need money asap then sell, if you don't you keep them it's very easy decision, then again two more scenes maybe price g s down and you would be like why didn't I sell, and when you sell price shoots up, your call.

Things also change depending on how many BTC you're talking about, if you have quite a few, its worth to keep it in BTC in an offline wallet to receive free Bitcoin Cash Coins, if not sell at peak and get into altcoins

If the money is needed to purchase any of the goods it makes sense to sell now because of possible reasonable interruptions in completing transactions after August 1. But if you have no need to purchase it now, it makes sense to keep your bitcoins very soon after August 1, you will receive a good income.

there will always going to be something with bitcoin, you have to accept and embrace the "drama". it won't go away for many years. and people seem to love it now.
just remember to always invest what you can afford to lose and never ask the question you just asked here ever again.

Me i sell all my bitcoin yesterday becuase of that news am afraid that bitcoin drop down. I will see what the result of that date then after that if bitcoin never down the price i think August 15 i will buy again bitcoin.

Its upto you i have split my bitcoin into three one part i sold already some i converted into ether and waves or if you like invest on some other alt coin and third part kept in wallet where i am holding private key.

There are wallets being made public, the organisers have said that they will split, there are futures being traded on ViaBTC.

I don't understand why people don't think there will be a split.  It will be a minor split, but at the moment the futures are training at about 16% of the BTC price, so it would still be a big project.  If you sell beforehand, you won't get any BCC, but if you don't want them, you could wait and sell afterwards, or just send your BTC around until someone replay attacks you!

Yeah that's right mate,  it wouldn't go away for many years and for me that investments could take up a very long travel everytime digital currency is concern. So regarding the drama forgt about it, you need not to stressed out with your emotions and be strong to face the fears coming from false speculators online. Never sell your holdings while it's so cheaper if being sold, and for me it's nice to sell when it reached the goals which you can enjoy most of the benefits that you had.

I guess you just need to store your bitcoin in a computer to be safe having transaction in that that would lead to bitcoin lost i also recommend to you to dont use web wallets i guess it will be a risk in your bitcoin if you store them in a web wallet that day,

As far as i know , you should not make any transaction between the date of july 30- august 3.  If you want to sell your bitcoins do it before 29th of july,

You only need to sell if you need money urgently, but because of the fear of falling prices or the collapse of bitcoin, it's silly to sell, because panic is created specifically so that many have missed the opportunity to earn after the price increases.

No. You don't need to sell all your bitcoins in august 1 because it is not advisable to sell because the price might go up into a higher price per bitcoin because of the upgrade to 2mb blocksize which will make the transactions faster and the fees might go down which is the best and the most awaited by the bitcoin users all over the world and the popularity of bitcoin will become stronger.

IMHO, its better to hold it. There are uncertainty after August 1 but all in all I am very optimistic. It is done by professional and they tested it before they implement it. All measures and risk factor are taken care of IMHO.

You shouldnt. Dont panic its just an upgrade of bitcoin, all are possible to happen but its better to be optimistic. Lets wait for the BIP141 to happen.

It's up to you. No one knows what will really happen in August 1 , it it'll lead to pump or not. I'll suggest you to wait and observe what will happen after the segwit in order for you to assure and avoid regrets. Lots of people are saying not to do transactions in Aug 1. There are lots of people who are still eyeing for those who will do panic selling, and I'm sure there's a reason behind that.

If you don't want to wait until the prise start grow, you better sell btc now. But I would wait.

If you are really that scared you can hedge your bets and sell some of it and hold the rest of it but honestly I think you should just hold it.

That decision is still up to you whether you sell and never to come back on bitcoin or use it as a strategy you'll have to take responsibility for it when the outcome comes.

but i can give some information that might help. as you can see bip91 seems going well thus we have a least chance of hard fork happenning on august one.

some says there'll be one on whatever date this year but seeing the situation now, i can say that no one wants a hard fork so people will make a way to solve the slow

Yes i agree.It's not yet the right time to sell your hard earned bitcoins so better hold it still.I believe we all have faith in bitcoin so better stand for it.Let's throw all our negative thoughts and just keep on doing what you used to do.

I can't tell you the right thing to do because it's your coins and you have your own preferences on how you look into the situation. If you are looking for long term then believe in bitcoin and face the risk of losing it on value. After all if everthing goes fine, then your risk taking attitude will be rewarded in the future.

It's just a win or loss here. If you have guts to challenge your doubts then go with the decision that you really want. Avoid confusion by talking to others what to do. Have a self analyzation on what thing you must do.

If I were you, I won't . You don't NEED to sell it before August 1, it's your choice. I won't sell it because I want to see how will the segwit affect Bitcoin and its value. Lots of people are expecting positivity on Bitcoin's demand from the segwit. It is hard to tell if it will be successful, we'll just know if it already happen, so it's better to wait, based on my opinion.

The people who wants to buy, will spread these rumours about Bitcoin crashing after the 1st of August, because they want to

create panic and with panic comes cheap coins. The best strategy for now, is not to sell your coins. You should transfer it to a

Bitcoin address where you have control over the private key and then just wait it out. Ignore all these rumours and shilling

I read statement of Bittrex, they will take all reasonable steps to ensure that customer funds can be preserved on both chains. so I will hold my bitcoin to get BCC.

It's better idea save it on cold storage.
Some exchanges has announce suspend deposit-withdraw at August, 1 starting 00 am, can be up to 24 - 48 hours. Bitcoin will upgrading. And nothing to worried about price crash or panic selling.

maybe you can sell and if bitcoin price will fall,you can buy it again.

There is going to be a hardfork as BCC coin is coming but that is just an added bonus. Do not sell your Bitcoin cheap and panic and if you have more funds, when or IF it dumps a little, buy some more and you will be the ultimate winner. I hope also BCC sells for very cheap so I can buy a few of those as well and hold.  :D ;D

Somehow I just feel safer holding ETH. Maybe I'll convert some amount into USDT and put in some ridiculously Low buy prices at exchanges. Maybe a flash crash will happen again

yeah is benefit if the bitcoin price will go down. what if the price go high and high again? you will regret for it  ;D.

This is the hard decision to make also because of this upcoming event this aug1. If selling bitcoin now and your not earning yet profit possible you will lose. It is best wait for the aug and lets see what the price may upto. If you sell now and the price will soaring high on aug you will regret also. So you may decide whats best its either hold and save it in an offline wallet were you will kept the private keys.

Yes some exchange did some neccessary action on this upcoming august1. I just hold my bitcoin for now and lets see what will may gonna happen on this date. It is best saving bitcoins in an offline wallet for sure bitcoin price will rise this year though we really cannot say the fluctuation of its price.

I think the safest thing to do is put your money in your pc wallet or if you have a hardwallet place your coins there including bitcoin, just be prepared that all ingoing and outgoing transactions with bitcoin will be put on hold so if you wanted to withdraw your money because you need it just make sure you have enough to keep in your pocket. It may take a couple of days too for some exchanges. I made sure I kept mine safe and plan to hodl them instead of selling them and regret after.

Smart suggestion indeed! It’s really sagacious to hold onto your bitcoins even when the market is facing downfall. As you have said, there is absolutely no need of selling all bitcoins on August 1st. even if the prices pump beyond expectations, keep some coins in your wallet. Good luck for Segwit.

In my opinions i don't sell bitcoins in August 1st because my bitcoins will be two coins and one of them will be expensive and the other will be free money because of the bitcoin's hard fork, today is good time to buy and hold bitcoins until the bitcoin's hard fork be succesfull and bitcoin's price will goes more than $3000/BTC

I dont know why many people are selling their bitcoins. Instead you can store them in any hardware or on a safe wallet. Bitcoins price will surely be changed but i dont think there is a need to sell you bitcoins. Many people have already sold their bitcoins and that may be the main reason behind price fluctuations. Once the price increases, more number people will start purchasing it for future and the price will again fluctuate.

you want to sell and buy back at a low price? many people tend to do like this, but i think most of them wont succeed, greedy is the sin, you can never buy at the lowest price and most are just watching btc to the moon with no action
