Most of the posts in Steemit that are backed by whales are from their acquaintances too, and you will not gain anything from Steemit unless someone of a high Steemit power upvotes your post. But in any case, you might want to have at least 20 people in your group to make significant upvotes for you guys to earn something significant.

This is so true, there are some newly created Steemit accounts with a thousand Steem power. I guess these are friends of Steemit whales. Just lending the Steem to them.

I'm not trying to bash but this concept is not new and has been proven a waste of time, time and time again. The real key to steemit is getting quality posts out there and engaging with the community rather than hustling for upvotes. At the end of the day, 1 whale upvote is better than the upvotes of 100 minnows.

agree with you.A whale upvote is better than 1000 minnows.just a calculation, A whale have 100k SP and 1000 minnows only have 5k SP.thousand minnows vote post only earn few cents.think how powerful a whale vote.So making quality post can be worthy if they can pay attention to whales.

That's how it works, unfortunately. One of you guys here must have a steemit power of more than $1000 to let you guys get significant earnings or else you'll just be counting cents. Also, for your post to gain much attention, it has to be catchy and well-thought for the whales to read it—and possibly upvote it.

Forget about trying to earn with Steemit upvotes!
I have been there for a while, with a bit of Steem Power and using bots. I couldn't go much over $10 per post.
And this was when Steem was high! Right now it's pretty bottom. My vote only worth $0.01 now, it was $0.10 last December.

This upvote community is a good idea, but if no one power up their account this upvotes won't worth it.

Meanwhile I found other useful way of earning with Steemit.
There are a few bounties that reward for your upvotes and resteems.
The rewards are quite good since the community is still small. Way better than Twitter bounties.

It's a good idea but you need to have a whale to upvote you, otherwise you can have 1k followers with 0 steem power, therefore worth nothing.
