Title: Where will you keep your bitcoins on D Day?
Post by: BingoDog on July 29, 2017, 06:37:52 PM
So, August 1st is approaching and everyone is getting a bit nervous. I wonder in which wallets will you keep your bitcoins, which ones you trust the most and know that your coins will be secure and you'll have access to them?

You can see which wallet he recommends. I personally used Electrum. But Core is also a good alternative. By now everybody should have settled on what wallet to used. Barely 48 hours before the "feared" Aug 1 day.

I was confused with the same thing because I use both offline and online wallets. So someone suggested me to use Electrum wallet and transfer all my online fund to that wallet.

The best thing about electrum wallet is that, it is light. You don't need to download any blockchain to your computer. I have just installed one and about to transfer my online funds to that wallet soon. I hope I will receive a good amount of BCC because I am going to hold a good amount of bitcoin in my electrum wallet.

I know that electrum and trezor will give BCC if you have stored bitcoin on there. Also from what I know bittrex will give also equal BCC to your bitcoin there. you can also search on google for more wallets , I know many  created an acticle about this matter.

I will keep them in Electrum. Yesterday was released version 2.9.0 which will support both chains if a hard fork happens. We have to wait and not make any transactions during and a bit after August 1 until the waters will calm down and we will see a winner.

Two days back, I moved my coins from Blockchain.info wallet to Electrum wallet. For briefly, I thought about keeping them in the OKPAY exchange wallet, but then decided against it. The risks are too high.

Its better to to keep bitcoins on paper wallet or hardware wallet so that it is properly secured. Some said that electrum was good wallet to store your bitcoins so that when the D day comes your btc is safe. If you really want to be safe just convert them into dollars or any fiat money that you use, and just buy bitcoin again when the price is low.

There is no DDAY, stop overreacting. All this useless FUD.....

Just HODL everything for a a day until community reports everything is perfectly fine (what is expected).

keeping everything on my ledger hardware wallet. it's the best place to keep bitcoins safe and ready for aug 1.

The best option is to keep your bitcoins on a hardware wallet such as a ledger.

Actually if this split happens, your private keys should lead to your old wallet with btc in it.
Just make sure you keep your coins out of any exchanges or online wallets and have your private keys saved somewhere safe if you don't own a hardware wallet.

Basically I'm not scared on what's about to happen on August 1. But upon reading such threads like this makes me feel uncomfortable, negativity was being passed to me but I know there's nothing to be afraid about it. However, I stored all of my bitcoins on electrum and I feel safe with it, so I'll just hold out my coins there and watch the market.

Eh, I don't know at the moment. I would think there is going to be some price change at some point, and this would seem to be a very good time to see a correction come up -- as there is going to be TWO coins now instead of ONE representing Bitcoin. This is obviously going to show some scare in the market as people are going to halt TX's and buy/sells to see what happens.

I know I personally am not going to hold any coins and are just going to sell to get out ASAP, planning on just waiting a month and just seeing what happens -- making another decision in that time to see if I'll buy again or just sit around.

I'm using a stupid blockchain wallet for my sig campaign earnings, and I just bought a little
Dash.  Just in case.  Don't know what's going to happen come August 1st, but blockchain isn't
on that approved list, and I'm not taking any chances with this stuff.  And honestly I don't mind
owning Dash, so there you have it.

Why would I be nervous cause of one more alt emerging no the scene? We get alts every day and I do not feel nervous at all.

Those who re nervous re total noobs and should learn there is and there will be only one BTC and that s not BCC.

All major pools have already classified that BCC shit and an alt, today did it Slush pool, Coinbase stated they won't support it.

I would say that the safest way to store bitcoins during the August 1 'crisis' is to save your bitcoins onto a hardware wallet such as ledger or trezor. This will ensure that all your bitcoins will remain in the same place even if a hard fork does happen.
However, there is just so much FUD surrounding August 1 that it makes me feel greatly uncomfortable. I think all we can do now is sit back and watch.

Electrum is good if you import the keys for the address. Core is good for allowing easy creation and export while offline. I think that this is a good last minute option.

Price change, whatever. Most important thing is that your BTC will still be there. No need to panic.

And leave Jihan and Roger Ver with their shitcoin, It'll be worth 0.05$ a piece and not much later Bitmain pulls the plug. And they don't even buy their shitcoin.

BCC is great. In this week we will see it crashing hard, and the more that happens, the stronger the community gets. The better for BTC.

We value BTC because of its professional and skilled development team, that's it.

I will keep my BTC on Bittrex. I usually have them in Coinbase, but they sent me an email that they are only going to support one network. They will not support the Bitcoin Cash fork, and that if I wanted to access both (BTC and BCC), I needed to withdraw bitcoin stored in their wallet before 11.59 pm PT July 31st, 2017.

On the other hand, Bittrex is supporting both networks, and there was an article stating that they will give you BCC according to your BTC in a 1:1 ratio. So I just transferred all my BTC from Coinbase to Bittrex.

Normally, trusting exchanges is not a good idea in case of a hard fork of bitcoin. This time, bittrex made a statement saying that they will provide BCC for us, but, let's see what's gonna happen then.

I also moved my bitcoin funds to bittrex so that I could bet my BCC. Hopefully, they don't make a mistake, there is still risk to be on exchanges during this fork.

I think I would try to put it in to alt-coin,
And see how it works I would try to invest my bitcoin in some alt-coin and hope that it would gain some profit after a couple of week.

I think we had more than enough discusiion regarding this and finally we are approaching the day of the fork,i really think that we are in safe hands if you keep your coins in your own desktop or mobile wallet and what ever split coins that may appear,i will be getting those and i will gladly hold those too.

My trusted bitcoin wallets are Xapo & Blockchain.info - I'm sure they are ready for anything that may arise on the "D-Day" and they'll select the best chain after the split for their users to stay safe without losing their bitcoin. First off, I'll divide my bitcoin in 3 ways, 1. Xapo 2. Blockchain 3. Bitcoin Exchange and exhange my BTC to USD to have peace of mine. ;D

I'm going to hold everything in my electrum wallet. I think it's the safest option if you don't have a hardware wallet yet. It supports a split,  you have the private keys and it's super lightweight.

I hope they are in the form of a paper wallet or some device where you have control over the private keys.  ::) This whole thing are

being blown out of proportion by people spreading FUD to capitalize on the panic that will result from this. You could see that from

the price swings in the last week. The price dip and FUD increase, people buy the cheap coins and the price increase. The best

advice will be to stay calm and have your coins in a service/hardware wallet or cold storage, where you have full control over the

private keys for those coins.  ;)

Personally i'm using electrum. Obviously has been one of the oldest bitcoin projects going on, you don't need to download the full blockchain which is simply a hassle, no private information is stored on their servers and it's completely free.

Anything that you can hold your own private keys with will do, really. However make sure that the site is trusted so that you know they're not going to steal your coin. A paper wallet is probably the easiest way, if you want to claim your BCC after the split.

Coinbase isn't going to give you anything, which is quite unexpected considering bitcoin cash is worth $300 right now. So don't use them, whatever you do.

we should keep calm it may cause dump weeks ago but it can recover anytime soon or maybe when that August 1 split day ends everything can be back to normal,so hope for the best.

I will keep my coins in Mycellium wallet. It allows access to private keys and I think it's safe enough. Still I don't think there is a reason for panic snd hope for the best. Spliting might not happen so everything is going to stay as it was before. Like some say, keep calm and carry on.  :)

I will decide before August 1st I will save and put Bitcoin in Bittrex trading purse, because I am sure it is very safe to save my Bitcoin, and they have told all the members listed in Bittrex, if there is any problem with your Bitcoin storage. In lost Bittrex, They will be responsible for it. For me this is all fair enough for their answers.

If I had an opinion with you before the 1st of August I will not sell bitcoin but I will store bitcoin in bittrex trade wallet, because with us storing bitcoin in bittrex trade wallet is much safer if we experience a very heavy problem, so is bitcoin in Bittrex who lost their will be responsible for everything

Most of the exchanges are not supporting the BCC at least for now, of course, it will be a little mess generally but it will be back to normal within few days.
I'm keeping them in Electrum and a very small amount in exchanges as I trade a very small amount time by time.
