Title: How to transfer between coin wallets on Bitfinex? i.e. BTC to LTC.
Post by: cloakdagger on July 30, 2017, 03:01:36 AM
So I've looked and read everywhere on their platform.

e.g.
https://support.bitfinex.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003291305-How-do-I-transfer-funds-between-my-wallets-

But it only lets me transfer between exchange, funding and margin accounts not coins.

I simply want to transfer BTC into another wallet like LTC.

EDIT: If this is not possible how could I transfer my BTC to IOTA using another service? Shapeshift doesn't have IOTA.

Could I withdraw my BTC into CAD/USD then buy IOTA?

you can never "transfer BTC to " another currency.
Neither transfer BTC to LTC, nor BTC to USD.

You can only TRADE.
So just go to trading site of bitfinex and buy LTC using your BTC. Then you will have LTC at bitfinex.

?? You need to exchange it...
Bitcoin and any other coin is just a coin. You could make only wallet-to-wallet transfers. Not coin-to-coin. This is the main purpose of any exchange like Bitfinex.

You cannot transfer directly BTC to another coins on their wallet. But you can trade BTC to USD or any coins which listed on Bitfinex, or if you want to sell BTC to USD and then buy IOTA with those amount of USD this is completely allowed.

You just trade the BTC/LTC pair (https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/bitfinex/).  It shouldn't be too hard.  If you want to actually exchange between your wallets, then you just deposit BTC, trade to LTC and withdraw LTC.

I think you're just about the first person ever to ask something like this.  Everyone else just trades between BTC and their preferred altcoin on the many available altcoin exchanges which don't even deal with fiat at all.

IOTA is a bit different since it's not on many exchanges but it still looks like IOTA has a pair with BTC (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/iota/#markets), and it can be traded on IOTA's own exchange as well.
