So is this just an account that i have to log into every single time or could you do this on my existing account? Because i want to obviously be able to use the stuff i do on drive on gmail and other platforms as well, and using another account just for the purpose of drive doesn't really make sense.

Yes its an .edu mail means you got unlimited Google Drive (5TB) and Office for student.
I check the domain details using whoisdomain and found out the domain will expire on july 31, 2018 but this is legit school so I think they will renew it until their school is operating.

are you the one who create this mail or you just get it from someone?
