The cost of a single Bitcoin already rose above the cost of an ounce of gold. the bitcoin price go up $2,631 where the 1 ounce gold price is $1320. It is really true that the price of bitcoin is doubled than the price of gold! I noticed that the units of measurement are not comparable, the falling price of gold and rising price of bitcoin is still nonetheless, significant. We can not imagine that  Which is better for our future collecting Gold or gathering Bitcoin? ???  We should discuss about the future of Bitcoin price and Gold. I think in the digital world bitcoin will be more valuable than any other currencies! I also think that this is the real time to discuss about the future of bitcoin and gold.

You really can't do that comparison. I believe that both bitcoin and gold can co-exist and while bitcoin can die at any time, Its not the case for gold. It's being there for thousands of years and I see no reason on why It should disappear now and If you really wanted to compare then you should take a look at the value of gold in circulation ($7 trillion).

This is totally true plus gold is much more accepted and trusted compared to bitcoin. I'm not saying bitcoin is not but not all people know bitcoin and will not even try to learn about it and gold has been very valuable and precious since ancient times and I don't see any reason for it to change.

If you want to get rich you have to take higher risk than just holding gold. The technical analysis on gold is an obvious bear trend. I wouldn't bother with gold at all unless it bottoms, and it must bottom hard for it to be considered a buy.

Gold has no intrinsic value no matter how much goldbugs try to brainwash you into thinking it has, the use cases on the industry could be replaced by other materials.

Bitcoin has more intrinsic value in my book. Being able to move money across borders is an intrinsic feature of bitcoin that gold can never have. This alone makes it more valuable, and the marketcap is tiny so the potential to anywhere from x10 to x1000 in the next decade are very realistic.

I agree with this. The fact said earlier might be true but we can never compare a volatile, rapidly changing crypto to a gold. The gold value will never vanished like the possibility that the bitcoin will. :)

I actually feel that today bitcoin has exceeded the price of gold. Bitcoin is more valuable and a luxury item than gold. Gold was once a very good item but now bitcoin has gone through gold and then bitcoin will be much more valuable than diamonds.

Wow these thing should be over. Comparing a cryptocurrency to a precious metal seems to be over the board here. You have your points on Bitcoin being priced higher compared to Gold but really why are you comparing the two. Gold as of right now is more stable than Bitcoin and it has been used by banks and federal reserves as a way to boost and make our economy stable. You think with a volatile currency such as Bitcoin are nations will have the same effect? I guess not. Let us not be fooled by the price, it only tells a part of the story not everything.

shouldn't compare Bitcoin to gold. Gold is recognized in the world and can be controlled, while Bitcoin is objected in some country by uncontrolling. And Bitcoin is still electronic money but Gold is seen as paper money

The price of bitcoin is really becoming more and more expensive, even more expensive than gold. But the question is always there: for how long? How long does bitcoin last? We are not certain how long it will last. What I know for sure is that it will not last forever. Gold will be there for as long as humans exist.

because bitcoin is more rare than gold, and gold is measured in once, if you measure in gram it would be difficult for bitcoin to take over the gold value, but yes bitcoin has a better future ahead, the value can increase a lot surpassing gold in any scenario you want to talk about

That's a far fetched comparison knowing bitcoin is still a young currency and still trying to convince people to adopt and use it.. only time will tell if it will be around for a long time unlike gold which has an established and ready market.

To make the comparison interesting and fair for the two valuable commodities why not compare an ounce of gold to a satoshi ?

Your right, you can use the same units of measurement like market cap. Then owning 0.001% of all Gold become more valuable than owning 0.001% of all Bitcoin.

Don't compared Bitcoins & Gold Gold yes can overtake by Bitcoins but not the value I know bitcoins can take higher price than Gold. But think about it. GOLD use 1000 years ago and still exist while bitcoins can be disappeared once the 21 Million BTC mine all.

Gone were the days we were advised to invest in 4G's (ground, gun, gold, grub), you probably have read that in books authored by the famous writer of Rich Dad, Poor Dad :) I am not here to contest his belief but even he himself has been engaging in Bitcoin lately.
Investing in blockchain technology is the new emerging investment opportunities that could deliver the right combination of risk vs return. Be an altcoin fundamentalist, the payoff could be massive.

- Gold has unlimited supply and its value is just based on its demand for jwellery while bitcoin has limited supply and its demand is growing rapidly every year over the world.

- Bitcoin price have increased significantly over the last few years and overall trend for bitcoin is just up while gold doesn't have strong upward trend if we even look at long term trading chart.

- Bitcoin is more secure than gold and easy to transfer from one place to another.

I think bitcoin is way better than gold to invest into.

Bitcoin is completely different thing than gold but both are compared with each other because both are profitable asset for investors. However bitcoin have very huge potential compared to gold in terms of price growth in future. Bitcoin can still attract billions or even trillions of dollar that can easily shoot price to 10x or even more within next few years.

There is comparison at all in between gold and bitcoin. Neither they have similar characters nor both have same function. If course bitcoin is ahead of gold because it is modern new generation currency and gold well it's just gold now. The hike in bitcoin is due to its adanvced tech and support by billions of people. I'm sure when half if the worlds population goes into bitcoin then the price will rise ultimately to 29k to 35k in no matter of time. At that time gold will look like piece of junk if compared with bitcoin.

I agree with this statement definitely. Bitcoin’s worth has increased for sure and comparing it with gold also makes sense. Because the users of bitcoin used to invest in the terms of gold. And the profit was also not actually comparable with bitcoin because bitcoin has improved a lot and is improving day by day.

They are different and you cant compare it to gold.If you do speak on prices we can really say that bitcoin does have the edge but seeing on the foundation i can say that gold do really have the edge, Price might behind on bitcoin but its strong and cant be easily be down knowing that gold is a valuable metal on this world which means it cant be easily vanished which would really possible on bitcoin anytime.

Because gold from ancient times when it was there and when will the loss of gold in this world. While bitcoin does not necessarily have age like gold. But gold and bitcoin can co-exist karana same have big investment value.

of course there is a reason , even a strong reason about how the fork causing chain split could really harmful for bitcoin existence. investor has no interest left in bitcoin , they might could make a comeback but for now under current condition they are mostly looking for safe way to cash their bitcoin out. value mean nothing when there is low volume , a small number ony that use bitcoin.

If this fork update will become successful, expect Bitcoin to increase more. Hopefully next year we can see Bitcoin playing between 3k to 4k USD. Let's pray for it.

You can not compare Bitcoin with Gold. Talking about the present and the future, obviously the price of Bitcoin is far above Gold.
Practicality, Bitcoin is also superior to Gold. I am sure, in the future Bitcoin will be more sought than Gold. Especially with the increasing number of gadget users, who are smart to see a great opportunity on Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is far more than gold because of the high value now in the trade. If you gonna trade huge amount of both for cash you will need a lot of interogations and security details of where did we found the gold but easy money for the bitcoin.

Being down is a normal situation in the market because it come again to its original price and also reach their new all time high. Bitcoin is going to be a strong cryptocurrency than others because bitcoin have a good community that supports the bitcoin price and make it valuable in the future.

well, once you created this thread, bitcoin price is doubled than a gold price. but right now I think is triple. The gold can survive after thousand of years past. And right now we've facing a digital age, of course bitcoin will fill the future economy. But gold still strong because most of people not use it just for investment but also for a jewelry. So bitcoin can keep rising , but it can't replace a gold because even the price of bitcoin higher than gold, but Gold still hold the high popularity in this world.

Bitcoin is already more valuable than gold and not only in price but also in the people who prefers to have bitcoin rather than gold. There is already a lot of people that are interested in bitcoin and they are now investing to it because they see faster profits in bitcoin rather than gold because gold is very slow in making profits and it needs a lot of time and patience before you can make at least 25% of return.

People hold on to gold because it's secure and tangible. Yes its true, people trust on gold because its been existing for a long time already. I think that people hold on to it for security, because they know that its price is stable. I don't think that people invest on gold anymore, but rather they just keep it because of its high value.

It may be true that bitcoin's price has now reached higher than that of gold, but there are many differences between gold and bitcoin. One being its tangibility. Its price is also very different because the bitcoin's price is very volatile.

Yes, of course bitcoin is more valuable than gold right now, but GOld is still be a safest investment than bitcoin. We know the crypto currency are risky investment with it high fluctuation. But what I see, more people are using it, and make use of its fluctuation to get profit.

In my opinion, gold is no better than bitcoin, nor is bitcoin no better than gold. Both have their respective advantages. Bitcoin is superior in terms of transactions, while gold is superior to its "real value".

The post is saying "nowadays." So I agree that indeed Bitcoin has surpassed Gold's value nowadays. But in terms of long term and stability of value, gold is always more reliable than Bitcoin. Gold is so precious all the time. It is not seasonal nor its value out of hype only.

Bitcoin has long surpass gold in terms of price and in the market bitcoin has more value compared to gold it has become now a more valuable currency than fiat currencies. Bitcoin became popular not because only in market dominance but also in other aspects that bitcoin has like it's fast transaction, reliable and security and more importantly it's decentralization where gold has nothing compared to this aspects gold is very hard to be delivered, it may be reliable but it is not secured cause it can be easily hijack unlike bitcoin.
