I am hoping that they will follow through with their own promise of refunding the money of their members. Now, if BTC-e will refund, should the NBI also returned the money to where they should belong? I am sure that NBI will not be returning that money fast as they might cite regulations and bureaucratic ropes that must be followed.

It is always sad to see a service provider going down the dump because of their connections with a certain man believed to be a scammer. Well, there must really be a balancing here. While we should be showing no mercy to scammers (and they are everywhere online), there is also a need to protect members who trusted the said exchange for their money.

These days, real risks are everywhere as scammers can be so creative in convincing us to surrender our funds to them. Sometimes it can also be a matter of lack not to be victimized by all forms and types of scams online and offline.

Interesting... Very interesting.

I would have thought that BTC-e was going to be the next Mt Gox, and definitely seemed like that for the past week.

It's good news for bitcoin, and obviously is driving the bitcoin price up today as people feel more optimistic about how things are going to go. But promises are promises, they said that the police took a portion of their coin so the remainder of their stash could possibly not be able to pay back everyone in full and have to resort to something like Bitfinex tokens.

Anyways, anyone interested, here's the original post of BTC-e: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2056158.0

Id they could pulled this off would be awesome but the USA government doesn't give a fuck about people in other countries, when they took down Mega Upload many people lost their files and that cost them a lot of money, they didn't care about that.

Even if your funds were legit they're lost, consider you funds stolen as if a hack occurred.

"On the Arrest of the russian vinnik alexander  we officially declare that alexander was never the head or employee of our service."

Did I get it right? They are denying that Vinnik was the owner of BTC-e?

I'm hoping that the funds should be refunded as well. But I really doubt that the Feds will just easy as that give the money back. They will investigate it further to really isolate which money has come from the Mt. Gox hack and which is legit. It may take some time though before they wrap up things. So for those we have legitimate claims, you need a lot of patience and you need to provide evidence that indeed that is you funds sitting on that exchange.

it MAY happen but the know your customer and driver's license or passport imho would be 'rigidly' enforced..thus some folk ...(it this is the case) will NOT come forward

I'd not bet on folk getting their BTC back at this point..but if it DOES happen....it would follow the above rules imho.

Maybe a lot of people are losing their bitcoin on that trade site, but i know btc-e's trading site is not a small trading site and they've been long standing. I believe that they will probably refund their users' funds

That's right. I also thought it's gonna be the same like with Mt Gox - money get lost and that's it. I hope the refund is really going to happen and we not loose the believe in the positive end of such suddenly closing of sites where we hold our founds.

BTCE will refund money that they have at cold storages. Another part of hot storage which stole FBI probably will refund FBI.

Its insane..who the fuck is fbi ??? And why they stole money from decentralised exchange..
Its gonna be a lot of fun! Crypto never get boring.

P.S.
Ofc such a structure had backups and they will continue to operate. Funds will be refunded ,because fbi hopefully do not have acces to cold storages.
Some part missed in hot will probably will be refunded in some equivavelnt or smth like that when Bitfinex was hacked.

Bitfinex now operates as will operate BTCE,because Batman never catched Joker  :D

Denying an employee is not a new thing even agents sent on missions are denied by their country when things go south and that means damage control which is what they thought is right in other to control the fall out of the news. I am sure they must have thought it through before releasing that statement because if not that, why would they wait so long to come out with that. Irrespective of how they want to spin it, what matters to me is the refunding of the customers account and doing so in a timely manner.

Im not sure they will be able to refund everything, the charges against them are specially about money laundering, so FBI will sure want to know more about some of them. If you had some there prepare to explain where does funds come from to the IRS.
