Ice age, or so called difficulty bomb.
Planned difficulty jump after 4.1m blocks, it will happen again after 200k blocks.

They say 'winter is comming'..
As I know, it is a programmed course for converting Ethereum system into PoS(proof of stake) from PoW(proof of work).
By continuously making decrease of the mining output..

At last, we should find other altcoins to mine with..

I dont think its just the ice age , some gigantic farms came online
this week, I mean like 500ghs plus farms

I totally agree. Just hoping it's not sign of testing ETH ASIC from China.

Yes, this would be probably the cause and no other than that. Gigantic farms would really affect ETH difficulty which means there nothing to be surprised of on sudden jump of it but i can say the growth movement isnt really normal for those who mine ETH. The longer they mine the lesser the profits but well this is how mining and difficulty works and its really a normal thing and you should really be aware of.

This is part of the planned ice ace where difficulty readjustment changes every 100'000 blocks.

Today ~ 25 sec block times

in about 1 month 35 sec block times

another 1.4 month 55 sec block times

and then we should fork by then (maybe September).  Farms are also expanding at incredible rates to make the difficulty even higher.

I still cant understand the logistics of bringing online 500GHS in one fell swoop look :

http://ethpool.org/miners/f78399ee9528e081f4d905fc8ebb0566de480911/blocks

these guys added almost 200ghs in one big chunk

another wierd thing is eth pool was at 3.3 TH this morning, a huge farm over 500GHs and a bunch of others either moved to ETC or something else and now ethpool is at 2.3

There are no asics. Its just organic growth.

Every 100,000 difficulty bomb readjusts.

dont look at the worker deal, they are probbaly just using the same mining script on every box so it looks like one big worker, the big take away is they brought all this hash online all at once this weekend

The difficulty rise faster than the hash rate rise to encourage the miners to not to mine and change to PoS.

maybe this is the reason. 116.8 GH/s
