Yeah, we need an alternative to that thing. They pretty much removed some channels from results to be "family-friendly" even if most of those channels actually have decent content.

So many bright minds on bitcointalk. We are all in it for the BTCBTCBTC, but "they" will come after us sooner or later.

We don't need to be somebody to be targeted. These giants already make huge money out of our data and even seemingly innocuous one's like search history or Last Watched and now they want to restrict what we see. These media outlets are what's responsible  for all the mess we've been dealing with lately by allowing people to be trapped in filter bubbles.

Sorry I don't see a blockchain solution solving this youtube thing for us. For one the content will be on user's personal computers. How can you ensure smooth streaming? Up time? you can't that's why these things need to be centralized and run from a data center with powerful servers and high speed connections.

now for speculative trading that's another story.

Massive hd are getting cheaper and cheaper. We can stream a BitTorrent directly from a website or vlc. There must be some bright minds thinking about it. A blockchain like protocol would tell if and when a hash (of a video, image, poem, dank meme) was created and who the original owner is. That data could be split and reconstructed a bit like a nzb file can do when retrieving a big file from usenet. The amount of data upl/dwnl would be massive, just like it was impossible to imagine watching a 4K TV show on Netflix a few years ago is now trivial. I have no idea how this will cost and how the community will share this cost (maybe raid owners becoming the new data miners and be rewarded for holding hd drives for other people's data?).

We really do not have a choice and a solution will come up eventually...

Thats the disadvantage of modern social networks. They are too  centralized and it brings a lot of censorshitp (so called tolerance). Your posts may somehow  hurt someone else's feelings and be romoved by the administration. At his moment it doesen't have anything close to moderation. Just simple lobbying someone else's interests.

We need a SJW proof network based on salt mining...

I know that YouTube can get around having to pay bandwidth costs and getting in trouble with copyright infringement due to their friendship with the government with sharing users' data. But the rest of the problem is not Youtube for the most part it's the people who use it. You have to be the change you want to see in the world. I make a point of going to other video sites as well as YouTube.

People say this kind of thing all the time, pointing out a problem. How exactly do you propose "have an alternative"? Petition the goverment to split up YouTube in to smaller companies? There are other video sites out there. People don't use them due to lack of content. The alternative sites are filled with advertisements to cover the expensive bandwidth costs that they have to pay that YouTube doesn't. We have an entire Internet of people who refuse to pay 1 cent to watch a video because they expect to have everything free, even though they waste much more than 1 cent of the value of their time from the ads.

I wish there was a cryptocurrency that was a video platform --> Steem.it but for video hosting. The network size though would be stupid. Freaking a ton of data with videos still to my knowledge.

We don't need a government. Most people here are allergic to any centralized "stuff". That is why I hope for a system that could be created with an intensive for people to be paid for hording large hard drives helping the network.

And by revealing their association with the clinton gangs they have revealed who they really are: the real ennemy.

Almost, we need to send the leftist globalist scamers to the salt mines.

Worst... they build profile to wage psychological warfare on their ennemies. It's a war. And there is no peaceful solution. They want to exterminate or concentrate camp or loot us, if it's not use us as kebabs.

Thx for the LBRY, it's nice to see that hosting of files is decnetralized with the file storage system. Exactly what musiccoin could have been. I think it's technologically superior than all the other centralized/censored/nonrevenuesharing scams out there. Lot of "valuation" in the darkpools will be reajusted and muppet slauthered. May the blood of the muppet lead us to a brighter, freer future, according to the real spirit of america.

Make america green again!

And in what way they can come after us, you mean censorship in the forum or to try to destroy bitcoin, because if you mean destroying bitcoin I can say to you if it was that easy governments would have already done so.

YouTube "Economically Censors" Ron Paul, Labels Videos "Not Suitable" For All Advertisers

Former US Congressman Ron Paul has joined a growing list of independent political journalists and commentators who’re being economically punished by YouTube despite producing videos that routinely receive hundreds of thousands of views.

In a tweet published Saturday, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange tweeted a screenshot of Paul’s “Liberty Report” page showing that his videos had been labeled “not suitable” for all advertisers by YouTube's content arbiters.

Assange claims that Paul was being punished for speaking out about President Donald Trump’s decision to increase the number of US troops in Afghanistan, after Paul published a video on the subject earlier this week.

The notion that YouTube would want to economically punish a former US Congressman for sharing his views on US foreign policy – a topic that he is unequivocally qualified to speak about – is absurd. Furthermore, the “review requested” marking on one of Paul's videos reveals that they were initially flagged by users before YouTube's moderators confirmed that the videos were unsuitable for a broad audience.

Other political commentators who’ve been censored by YouTube include Paul Joseph Watson and Tim Black – both ostensibly for sharing political views that differ from the mainstream neo-liberal ideology favored by the Silicon Valley elite.

Last week, Google – another Alphabet Inc. company – briefly banned Salil Mehta, an adjunct professor at Columbia and Georgetown who teaches probability and data science, from using its service, freezing his accounts without providing an explanation. He was later allowed to return to the service.

Ever since Google took control of Youtube, I was expecting this. Google is trying to build their own empire, where free speech is banned. And this is another step towards moving in that direction.

They used the "hate speech" lie for their actions in the past. I wonder what was the trigger in the case of Paul...

You should check out dTube.video.

It´s a YouTube based on Steemit + ipfs (torrent + blockchain + encryption)

Youtube will have to delete the shadow banned videos eventually. The Streisand effect is already in full force. Videos no one cared to watched, or knew existed are now going to be viral. Insane but this is what you  get when you put sjw in charge.

Joy Villa Is Given 48 Hours to Remove 'Make America Great Again' Song for Violating YouTube Standards

Since singer Joy Villa rocked the red carpet of the Grammy's in a “Make America Great Again” dress, she hasn't been shy about her support for President Donald Trump or love for her country.

On Independence Day, Villa released her newest song, “Make America Great Again,” and although it's title is Trump's campaign slogan, the video, which was released a few weeks ago, makes no reference to the president at all.

“Artists create the future, and right now I see a lot of destruction to our future,” Villa told LifeZette. “It's a love song to America.”

The video showcases images of various, ordinary, Americans of all different races and genders, accompanied by lyrics such as “we can still be the voice of every hungry child,” and “be the sound of every freedom song.”
