Title: Safe to make transactions now?! (2 august 2017)
Post by: bitscointalker on August 02, 2017, 10:03:25 AM
Hi everyone,
I was wondering whether can be safe to make transactions now without they get lost in the network ending in loosing bitcoin.
I've tried to make a transaction two hours ago for 0.007 btc (o.001 btc fee) and seems to work properly as I already received 6 confirmations.
Before proceeding with a larger sum I wanted to know who experienced delays or whathever else...
Thanks

I think there are some misconceptions because it is safe for now because the only issue is the confirmation of bcc that has somethings thats currently being dealt with. Btc is ok as it was before, that usually depends on the amount you are trading. Not unless you are trading with bcc then i too still am waiting for some updates and news from fellow members who is going to trade bcc before dumping.

I think so. Everything is in place already. BTC withdrawals, deposits, and transfers are already allowed. The green light is already on for those transactions.

Xapo has the high fees from the past two months but online wallets like blockchain or even coinbase will be good to have faster transaction earlier and now also. Fees would be 0.0003 btc to 0.0004 btc to default transaction fees. Forking does not affect bitcoin this time anything. Therefore, you use it before.

Btc should essentially be fine, I hope from now on we can finally move past Bcc. If you're trying to transact bcc I don't think it's quite safe yet so be a little but more patient if you want to trade/transact bcc.

Didn't you read the pinned post "All Clear" ? There are many more other websites which started receiving deposits and allowing withdrawals. One such website is freebitco.in so I think it's safe to make bitcoin transactions now.

"News: ALL CLEAR: You can now use Bitcoin as you were previously. For more info, including how to claim your BCH (optional), see here." -BitcoinTalk

Please try reading pinned posts/news and also research a bit before posting these kind of topics. And to answer your question, Yes it IS all Clear now, you are free to transact but please don't be casual with security, there may be high chances of BTCs getting stolen if you are too lazy to check your own security.

Thanks everybody for your responses.
Cryptobonds: I performed the withdrawal from Kraken to a paper wallet of Bitaddress.
TheBTCAlex: sorry but I still did not fully understand how to browse into this site: I'll take a while to study it.
Regarding the chances to get stolen of the BTC what are you refering to, exactly?
Actually I'm moving my BTC from a paper wallet address to another just to be ready to send BCC (BCH) whenever possible.

yeah i guess people still confused. theymos previously suggest everyone to not send / make any transaction during and a couple hours or a day before the fork happened. but they didn't notice that clearly. they still feel insecure even after the fork happened. i personally can vouch that it's safe to do that as i have done made a couple transaction today and everything just okay .

As much information is available that now doing bitcoin transactions is a safe thing. Already many people who make transactions quickly and also succeed. The problem is currently that the BCH is still not stable, many exchanges are still not open the deposit and withdraw BCH. So we can conclude that bitcoin runs normally while BCH still needs some time to achieve stability. You are free to commit various bitcoin transactions at this time without any worries. Have fun  ;D   .

To just be sure: can I leave my BCC (BCH) on the address they were assigned without any worry of being stolen?
There might be a way to check the balance of the BCC (BCH) I have on that address?

I'm so sure about it. In my case I cash out my money in my wallet before August 1st came and now it's August 2nd so I have no idea. Good thing is that I have small amount left in my wallet which is good for transport fare and buying few munchies. I hope it's still safe because it would be very hard for me and for my family. I always think of my parents and it really affects me as a whole.

Your wallet fee is too expensive. What wallet are you using ?? For bitcoin transactions .. recently I received a deposit from the signature result. I think only yesterday 1 August all wallets close their deals. Now they are beginning to re-open the transaction. And in this forum also has provided information if for when we can make transactions.

I think its safe to make a transaction now because I sent last few hours ago bitcoin into the exchanges site and its confirm within 1 hours only but the transaction fee is still high. Many people as of now sent and recieved bitcoinm everything will back again. We start bitcoin business again.

I had no problems with the payments a single day. I have received bitcoins and 31.07 and 01.08. I haven't seen any difference. There might be a problem with the new Alt coins of bitcoin, but they did not interest me and I'm not interested in their fate.

fee seems high, what wallet you use?

https://tradeblock.com/bitcoin showing an average fee of 78.774 satoshis/byte which is 80% of averages seen during preceeding weeks. Situation almost unchanged.
The wallet allows users to adjust, but the network decides, so beside the point.
Oh, and no fear about "loosing bitcoins" they merely end up not having reached their destination, residing inside wallet still.

Many exchanges are starting to deposits/withdrawals now except for Bittrex.. I thought it may take some time for everything to get normal but it is earlier than what I had expected. Its safe to make transactions now and it looks like will be a good season for trading.

Bitcoin transactions are now clear and stable. Everything is back to normal, just like before the split happened. You may now use bitcoins like the way you used to. I haven't heard of any problems yet as of now. I was lucky to receive my payment from a signature campaign and have it confirmed just a couple of hours before the hard fork. You might want to change your wallet because charging 0.001 BTC is really high for a transaction fee.

I guess theymos has already announced all clear mark! We should be fine with any kind of transaction now. As you said that your transaction already got six confirmations it means we all are good to go now. Already most of the wallets were not going to support this thing so they won't be having any problem for users to do the transactions. So it's time to get back on track.

Theymos, already said that we can use bitcoin now as we were previously. Also, I already seen some campaigns who successfully transacted their payments with their posters.

I'm a bit concerned about your transaction fee because it seems high for a 0.007 btc. Is it normal or you just mistype 0.07 to 0.007?

According to our latest news about bitcoin found in above, we can now use bitcoin so it means that the update is successful and there is no split happening. So I was very happy to hear that we can now do transactions on bitcoin by withdrawing or transfering funds to others.

Yup exactly because it was confirmed I would say that if those people are still afraid they should go to the forum top there are written in the green forum that all clear. So, this is great signal to us now we can buy bitcoin. First of all we are finally crossed 1 August and we are in the market once again. So feel sorry for haters that they will miss the rumors of 1 August.

You could have made easy money if you were holding the coins in your wallet, you must of neglect anything, because you never know when the price will shoot exponentially in the future,so even if you are not interested in it,make sure you keep the coins and forget about it and safe guard your private keys, who knows what the price will be a couple of years from now. ;)

Yes it is safe now to make transactions because the fork now is done and all the things are now back to normal aside from other exchanges who are still on the process of fixing their disabled bitcoin wallets but if you are making transactions from your wallet alone then it is safe to execute transactions.

It was probably safe on August 1st. But yes it is completely safe to do so now. The worst thing you were going to run into before was probably a delay, most of the exchanges already announced that there was going to be increased 326 confirmations during that transition. Some of them come back down and some of them have it but yes it is completely safe to do transactions and you have nothing to worry about

Yes, only for precautionary measurements, it was suggested not to transact on Aug 1. Yet, it would have been safer as there was no unexpected happened due to BIP141 implementation. I believe it would be always safer NOT to transact in the events of any upgradation. We must treat it like how exchanges/gambling sites go for maintenance. It would be a mandatory thing for any service hence for bitcoin systems too.

The split took place on August 1, then a few hours later everything seemed to be stable and everyone was able to use Bitcoin as normally as before August 1. We could send, Bitcoin trading is stable without any problems. I also made a transaction and it was successful. However, if you want absolute safety when transferring large sums of money you can wait a few days to avoid the risk of loss. One more thing, I think you paid too much, you traded 0.007 BUT but the fee is 0.001, if it is due to the service charge of the wallet then I think you should change the new wallet, otherwise it will be very expensive

Which I know and have read in emails and news, can not and advised not to do BTC transactions only on the 1st of August, once the bitcoin transaction is normal again.
