Title: Electrum Password not working; I can restore with seed; but will it delete BCC?
Post by: hoganJ32888 on August 02, 2017, 03:43:25 PM
I changed my Electrum password twice within 5 minutes, and now I keep getting "incorrect password" when trying to send BTC to my new wallet.

If I restore electrum from seed will this affect my BCC balance...as I plan to restore it again later from seed in electron cash.

No. As long as you have the corresponding private key to the address containing BCC, you are fine.

Restoring Electrum from seed is no different than adding the private keys back into the wallet. Nothing will be changed but your master private keys will be back in the wallet unencrypted.

Only if you have NO password set... if you set a password, all sensitive info like Seed and Master Private Key (xprv) will always be encrypted in the wallet file (even if the wallet file itself is unencrypted).

So if you restore from seed and set a new password, your seed/keys are encrypted (and so is the wallet file if you leave the "encrypt wallet file" box checked which is the default)
