Forget it, you'd be wasting your time to be honest. Even the USB ASICs are BTC2.2 with shipping giving 300 MH/s.

You could get a used GFX card, add it into your spare PCI-E slot and earn a tiny amount by pool mining.

Think it's called the Block Eruptor: a search will yield plenty of posts :)

Its performance vs other methods is woeful though.

For 1BTC, I can sell you my mining rig w/out mobo, psu, hdd, ram, cpu, and gpu.  Just the custom built open enclosure only.  Capable of up to two "rigs" for a total of 8-10 gpus :)

You can't get much for 1BTC, cept for maybe a 7790 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=205229.0), which will get you ~250MH/s, but requires a full PC and PSU with a 6pin power connector.

However, for ~2-2.5BTC, you can get some ASICs!

The ASICMiner folks announced the Block Erupter (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195004.0) USB device that does 300MH/s, and is powered entirely off the USB port. However, they only accept orders for 300 or more, so there (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195647.0) are a couple (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=197446.0) of Group Buys (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195540.0). These are prolly the most likely to end up in customers hands first, depending on which group buy gets their order in first.

The other option is to purchase a 3rd party miner made from Avalon chips. TerraHash (http://terrahash.com/shop/) will be selling a 4.5GH/s unit for 2BTC, but is not accepting orders yet, and it will be 2-3 months after you do order before you get your unit.

And of course, the last option is the BFL Jalapeno (https://products.butterflylabs.com/homepage/5-gh-s-bitcoin-miner.html). It's 5GH/s for $275USD, which is about 2.5BTC. Current owners of the Jalapeno say it uses ~30Watts, but who the hell knows when you will get on if you order now.

Holy fuck, ironcross got twice my posts in 3 months? ~200 posts a month, ~6.6 posts day. That's just stupid.

So what would the best option be for a guy looking for a ASIC for around 2BTC?

Buy a Block Erupter or wait for the "TerraHash"?

Where is the thread for TerraHash, btw?

There will be Avalon Single chip USB miners for sale, soon.

Some of the folks posting in this thread indicated that they will be selling retail.

I would bet that they will be <BTC1

Avalon chips hash at ~280 MH/s each.
The USB miners will have 1 chip.

The Terrahash uses a Klondike design for it's board, which uses 16 Avalon chips (4.5GH/s). This little USB miner will use 1 Avalon chip (280MH/s), and its developed by the same guy. Not to be confused with the Block Erupter, which is also USB powered and ~300MH/s, but is sold by the ASICMiner team. They are different. Price for the Avalon-powered K-1 USB device one is expected to be ~0.3BTC.

Pretty good find.  I have seen some of these cheaper/older 775 motherboards NOT work with mining level video cards though but I was trying with 5830's.

The question is should you get a 300Mhash ASIC/FPGA miner for 2BTC today?

Or wait 2 months+ for something that might be a scam but has a hash rate of 4.5Ghash for the same price?

What's the time table for the 0.3BTC USB thingy?

Going to leave the scam accusations for others to sort out.
I haven't done any trades on the forum yet, so thanks for looking out for us newbies!

I kinda hijacked ironcross360's thread because I myself is interested in getting a cheap ASIC miner.
I would like to hear some people that actually got miners, what they think I should get.
