1) We know about Social yes. We didn't know about Social when we started this project.   Discussion ended, Social is a competitor and competitors are good for business.   You can as well list Steemit.com if you want or Instagram.com to not focus too much on Social.

3) We are not perfect yet you are right, but we far away from a SCAM.

Everybody uses social media, not everybody speaks English.

Yes we are not 100% sure about this one yet. I guess most people that are interested in ICO's speak english good enough to understand what we are going for. We might consider a chinese translation though. Ofcourse SocialX itself will be available in many languages.

This is good question.

Current blockchain technology doesn't offer fast solutions which could match existing client server technologies and be scale-able enough.
This is why our solution will be a hybrid of client server solutions and blockchian.

Blockchain application will only be responsible for important and crucial components like user registration, upvoting, rewards and financial transactions.
In addition every blockchain data already in existence will be mirrored on client server components in essence cached for quick access.

As solutions like bigchainDb and Swarm mature, we will possibly integrate them.
We are also in the process of researching of our own blockchain Pos solution to allow for fee-free usage of blockchain.
Obviously with millions of users, even small fees would be adding up.

We will be also adding an affiliate program to our platform which will pay rewards in tokens easily convertible into other crypto currencies.
I've bee involved in affiliate programs for last 15 years.

Which platform are you using? ERC-20?

All images are Photoshop or you have any beta version there although this is nice concept but people wpuld like to test any working prototype. AMA session would be great step if you want to increase the community and make this project successful.

Hi, first of all yes you are right it has a lot from Instagram and we like Instagram.

On a closer look it will be a bit more complex as we combining also the power of an upvote system as Steemit.com uses it (maybe in a different way than Steemit)  with the power of licensing your media (videos & photos) to sell the license for commercial usage (you don't have to license your media but you can do that).

But the most important part is that no one than you (the uploader) will own the media,  if you compare that to the big companies out there as you mentioned for example Instagram then you see that we want to change the pure monopoly and the fact that the photos you upload to Instagram are free to use for Instagram as you give them some rights of your media.

Won't using ethereum cost a lot of fees to pay for upvotes? I think you will need your own blockchain for eliminating fees. How would you stop people from picking up images from Google and posting? Is it not possible to use distributed storage like Sia or Storj to store the media instead of a centralised server?

You can't stop people from using any images they want.
This is called sharing.
Most of the images on Pinterest, Instagram or Facebook is  already stored somewhere and each site offers sharing buttons.

Just a little left till the alpha release and the ICO start I guess. The very fact that they postponed the crowdfunding so they can show a working early version of the product should speak clearly that this is not a scam unlike many other ICOs out there with deadlines set in the distant future that they don't even plan to meet. A scam would just post some flashy pictures and a few highly edited videos, then hold a quick ICO to collect several hundred ETH and disappear without typing a single line of code.

Not to mention everyone on the team is out there with their names and faces and not hiding behind fake linkedin accounts with google search stock photos.

It will be reached. Not many ICOs start with a ready alpha version of the product. The social platform alpha will be ready very soon and it's already looking very good. This will be more than enough to show people that this is a serious project, and thus the soft cap will be reached easily.

Based on what I read on the 1st page of this forum, it is only applicable for those people who have computers, mobile device and phones. I do not see any problem with the market feasibility of this project because even if it is applicable for those who have mobile devices, we all know that now a days almost all of us have their own and personal gadgets. Team update: SocialX and Theodor (CTO) part ways.

The past weeks have been a rollercoaster ride for the entire SocialX Team, with primarily positive experiences. The successful ICO was a big moment for us. We are very optimistic about SocialX changing the future of how the human species interacts socially. We know you’ve been waiting for this moment to come. We’ve been testing your patience, but we hope you can understand that our main aim has been to work as fast as possible without compromising quality. All beta subscribers will receive information about the beta test and how to report bugs, as well as a link to install the app.

Internal testing started in mid-April, but we decided to add and improve some more features before releasing the first closed beta version. For example, we’re happy to say that decentralisation of files is now implemented.

There’s still a lot of work left for the development team. As you know, the roadmap is the best reference for staying up-to-date with the team’s progress. We will update the roadmap shortly before the release again.

We are looking forward to your support in the next months decentralising the social media landscape with SocialX. Please keep in mind that this is our first Beta build. More will follow as development is continuing non-stop.

Here’s our monthly recap with an update about SocialX going Open-Source and the introduction of two new additions to our team

We completed the entire outline for a decentralized future of socialX, the work which was executed within this months was tremendous. For this reason we decided to publish the current codebase as our open source initiative within SocialX and provide our community the transparency they deserve. The reason why we did not publish our code earlier is simple. We did not want to provide too much information about how to build a fully decentralised social network, to our competitors who might be listening closely. To say that a social network is decentralised is easy but to actually executing a fully decentralised social network is a major milestone achieved by our team.

During the last months we build a scalable and decentralised social media network as we promised earlier this year. Now it’s time to release it bit by bit to ensure that everyone will have SocialX on his radar over the next months. With over 662 commits we will soon be able to present you the latest stage of the app. The private circle will be the first to get a glance at the App followed by everyone who signed up for the beta.

But of course in order to publish the beta we needed to design a stable infrastructure. Figure 1 displays the infrastructure we have chosen for running SocialX.

As you can see we are using database peers as one important part of our infrastructure. This blogpost aims to explain how you can setup a database peer to support the decentralised approach of SocialX.
