Title: How to -rescan? (OS X) Post by: sammoocow on June 21, 2011, 02:54:44 PM I need to -rescan to try to get a transaction to show up, but everywhere I look it just says "use the -rescan switch" etc., never actually explains how. Could someone please give me a step by step instructions on how to rescan on Mac OS X.
Title: Re: How to -rescan? (OS X) Post by: sakkaku on June 21, 2011, 03:03:20 PM Open terminal (type terminal in spotlight or navigate to Applications -> Utilities).
Code: /Applications/Bitcoin.app/Contents/MacOS/bitcoin -rescan You may need to change the path if you moved bitcoin.app from the application directory. Title: Re: How to -rescan? (OS X) Post by: sammoocow on June 22, 2011, 03:54:06 AM Thank you! Worked and got the transaction. :)

Open the preferences on it and add -rescan to the end of the target. Other option is to open the terminal and cd to the bitcoin.exe and run bitcoin.exe -rescan Title: Re: How to -rescan? Thank you! :D Title: Re: How to -rescan? (OS X) Post by: flaxceed on June 28, 2011, 05:05:08 AM It is back to its old self again. I can not get a connection. :(
Maybe the rescan was only a partial solution. I shut down my anti-virus but still no connection. I try different options in the client- with or without proxy, with or without UPnP, etc. If there is a thread online here that might clue me in please point me in that direction. I have tried searching with no luck. It's making me batty! Title: Re: How to -rescan? You may want to try manually adding some nodes to your bitcoin.conf file: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Running_Bitcoin#Bitcoin.conf_Configuration_File Some ISPs block IRC by default (which the client uses to find peers) as it is also abused by botnets. If you are on an uber ghetto network like a university wireless lan you may need to talk to a network admin about whitelisting some outgoing ports. Title: Re: How to -rescan?
