Title: Sent my BTC to BCH help needed please
Post by: j-a-x on August 03, 2017, 09:14:27 PM
OK so firstly, I was not fussed about BCH, but I thought it better to split them on my Nano Ledger S away from my BTC.

Looks like I messed up.
So my ledger was up to date, as was the Chrome extension.

I booted into the ledger and there was my 2BTC that I have been adding to over time.
I swapped to Bitcoin Cash then hit the split button which created the new BCH wallet.

Now what I was supposed to do, was to go back to the Bitcoin Cash Main, and then split from there.
But instead I went to my BTC wallet chose max and sent to the newly created BCH wallet.

I realised what I had one, and straight away the BTC balance was Zero.

I logged into the BCH wallet which was also Zero

Logging into Bitcoin Cash Main, there is my balance but only as BCH I.E 2 BCH

Now I am panicking that I have lost my 2 hard earned BTC's.

My BTC and Bitcoin Cash main wallet have the same receive address.

Can anyone help me retrieve my BTC or are they gone for good :(

From what I understand you sent your Bitcoin funds to an altcoin address.
In other words, you sent your coins to an address you don't own the private key. Coins are essentially lost.

Thanks for your input. Some one on reddit has just posted this answer to my question. Which may get my coins back.

Ledger says-- If you sent BTC to the BCH Split Chain then it is a delicate issue, you need to wait until we provide a tool to recover your BTC.

My fingers are so crossed I can hardly type.

Looks like someone else must have done the same thing.
