im searching ways to anonymize bitcoin payments. I read about zerocoin, but thats not implemented yet. Someone suggested to use silkroad, there are mixer services and so on. The change address feature in bitcoin doesnt look like having any advantage for anonymity for me.

I guess the best way to do so would be to pay somewhere bitcoins and the bitcoins come back to more than one addresses in your wallet. One would be too dangerous. It could take some time to make it harder and the bitcoins should come from a different address that isnt connected to the sending address. But it should be avoided that the same amount of bitcoins is flowing back. Or the same amount minus a hard fee. That would mean someone can guess where it comes from.

So whats the best and cheapest way to anonymize payments?

You could transfer some BTC to a blockchain.info wallet and then use the "Shared Send" function.  0.5% transaction fee

deposit into any exchange (mtgox/coinbase/btc-e/bitstamp) then withdraw to a fresh address.

the coins you receive are not related to the coins you put in and the new address ensures a bit more anonymity.

just dont shout out your address on forums or websites that keep logs that google can easily search.

Cosigned. Blockchaininfo and buying + sending/recieving coin from non-verified exchange accounts is anonymous enough that I couldn't track my own coin movements without information that only I have.

Regardless of which direction you go, you should educate yourself on the use of TOR, and various encryption tools.

I'd avoid silk road unless you have reason to be there. With recent HS/bitcoin developments, it's probably best to stay as clean as possible unless your transaction takes place in the marketplace of SR. YMMV.

Great suggestions so far. Thank you. I guess its best to wait a couple blocks before sending back and/or send the bitcoins in parts to 2 different addresses, so that its not possible to deduct a fee and find the transaction back in the blockchain.


I never bought at silkroad... but its probably better to not get related to this shop. Not that one lands on a no-fly-list or something like that... :)

There are bitcoin laundering services online that you can send your coins to and they will send them back from random addresses. you do run the risk of losing coins to fraud or whatever, but that goes with most bitcoin business online. Look into:


I think they are the only ones but i have seen something about blockchain.info's wallet having a laundering feature.. :)

2017 update? How about using ShapeShift and altcoins?

Deposit bitcoin in exchange. Change for Doge/LTC.

Withdraw Doge/LTC to your wallet.

Send this amount to another exchange, exchange in bitcoin, and send to your address.

I think this is an easy way to move some coins. If you make more than one times (big volumes) just use more than one address/exchange.

Doge?  bad.  You need something that's private and untraceable/unlinkable.  Monero/dash/zcash has good idea, but there's the new Spectrecoin that's more private,anonymous, and untraceable than all those 3 Combined.

How were you able to post on a thread that is 4 years without any update. The last time I tried doing that i was advised to start new thread with a similar topic. The only thread have created here was asking question answered in some old thread and was criticized for it. Sometimes I don't know how to deal with some situations here

Since this question was posted the technology has changed or services added to improve it. There has been new 3rd party services added < Bitcoin mixers, like the one in my signature > So going back to old threads are not necessarily a bad thing, if constructive updates could be posted to that thread. If someone use the search function on this forum, to find more information on the topic, then they will get updated information. So this is the positive side to this. ^smile^

That is a good proposal and that is the same with what I am doing right now. Blockchain.info wallets provide anonymous features and at the same time your wallet address constantly changing per transaction made. Compared to other web wallets this site is the safest one. I truly trust this site since this is the only wallet web site that my bitcoin was not hacked.

Exchange the bitcoins for dollars then buy contraband with the dollars. The cash method has worked successfully for drug dealers and criminals for hundreds of years.

Exchanger or trading platform are one source to get bitcoins anonymously. Or even can use third party wallet service who offers sending and receiving platform.

Basically Bitcoin is anonymous currency. Any user who use wallet service can be traced by IP only but no one can identify certain person. Mixer is also good service to get your own bitcoin by paying fees for mixing.

Blockchain.info Shared Send is no longer recommended. Shared Sends leave an easily tracked pattern in the blockchain.

State of the art at present is to use Monero. Buy Monero with bitcoin at one exchange than after time has passed sell for bitcoin at a different exchange. Use a local Monero wallet, not a web wallet for maximum privacy.

Best and cheapest ways haven't changed much: use one address for each payment, don't connect your address to any identity you own, being either your real one or a nickname online (and if you have to, use a different address for different nicknames) and don't cash in/out using services that require verification. There's also the possibility of doing mixing yourself, but not might be worth the effor, especially if you don't have a way to access coins that were never connected to you.

I personally use gramsflow tiny fee and hopefully gets the job done right. Haven't had any problems with them yet.

The problem with any mixer on Tor is the pool of bitcoin they have to work with. Just darknet buyers and sellers swapping bitcoins for the most part yes? Try cashing out bitcoin you got from Grams at Coinbase and see what happens. Instead use the exchanges to your benefit. They have a large pool of bitcoin from speculation that has not been connected to gambling or darknet sites. And with coinanalytics software becoming more sophisticated the only way to properly mix bitcoin is to jump between chains.
