BCC symbol is already taken by BitConnect and Bitcoin cash try to used it initially that's why in some exchange the ticker still says BCC will others used the official ticket BCH (BitCoin casH).

A lot of people in the crypto space recognize BCC is a Bitconnect Token. This also goes to show the Bcash people didn't plan this out very well at all.

The client refers to Bitcoin Cash as BCC and the first company to have a mining pool (ViaBTC) does also. It seems the exchanges are mostly going with BCH while the client and ViaBTC are staying with BCC. They are assuming Bitcoin Cash will win out over Bitcoin and they may call Bitcoin Cash what they like. That remains to be seen still early days but what Jihan Wu wants he seems to get in the end. It was a really bad idea to let bitcoin mining get centralized in China but water over the dam.

Can you deposit BCH to Kraken to sell?

the confusion even produced XBH as a fork from Kraken's XBT ... honestly we need more letters as in ABCD coin. A namespace huge enough to carry 26^4 different Altcoins :D

Can you deposit BCH to Kraken to sell?

Not in a timely fashion. 66 Blocks mined, to man confirmations required. In comparison BTC mined 456 blocks in the same timespan. Datasource: https://cash.coin.dance/blocks

Fun Facts: Block 478561 signaled for Segwit, block 478617 states "M6Y q$/Fuck BitcoinCash - bcc.suprnova.cc/"

Currently, we can have over 17,000 different altcoins with 3 letters. I don't think we're going to pass that number anytime soon..
I like your "prepare-for-the-future" atitude though..

BCC is the initial ticker used or preferred by its team or by the community. When you are aware of the happenings when they insist on splitting Bitcoin's chain and called the new coin as "Bitcoin Cash" some used the ticker BCC for it and some uses BCH. And now, the official ticker of BitcoinCash is BCH. If you happen to encounter BCC/BCH, they are the same  thing but it is best to verify it first.

On Kraken I cannot see any option to create a BCH address to deposit into though.

I think there is no difference because they are same bitcoin cash and the only difference is the ticker from the exchange but there is no big deal with that difference from H and C in the last term of bitcoin cash.

There is a difference. The problem is that BCC is a term for another that is why they can't just use BCC that easily because they might confused with something else.

I've also read the site of bitcoin cash which is the bitcoincash.org the time after and before the split. Their recommended term is BCC but now they've added the term XBC. So I think we must stick to XBC than to BCC so we can avoid the confusion.

I have the same question. I am seeking in Bittrex BCH showing BCC. The first time I can't understand what it is. When I saw this Forum everybody was talking about it then I understand that BCH is the BCC.

A lot of people in the crypto space recognize BCC is a Bitconnect Token. This also goes to show the Bcash people didn't plan this out very well at all.

The ticker is the least of their problems. Their biggest problem is the difficulty level - right now there isn't enough hashing power backing BCash and they have to struggle to find blocks.

It surely has a big difference between BCH and BCC.
BCC is used for two coins
  • Bitconnect tokens
  • Bitcoin Cash

Many exchanges call Bitcoin Cash as BCC including yobit, and some minor exchanges call it BCH. Before you start a trade on this coin always remember to see it name first. small confusion can cause heavy loss.
Both BCC and BCH are used for Bitcoin Cash

Why is BCH sometimes displayed as BCC?

Actually here BCC symbol named coin already exists in the cryptocurrency field .
About 2 years ago a coin came in the market named bitconnect and its common symbol name is bcc .
But after the hard fork the New coin that entered in the market was bitcoin cash and name as BCC by symbol ( as usual according to name of the new coin ).
But bitconnect is not available at every exchange so mostly exchange are using bitcoin cash as BCC but those exchange at which bitconnect already listed are , gave the symbol name as BCH ( to overcome from.the intermixing and confusion of both these to separate trading ) .

Probably a lot of people will be confused in the names and this may benefit it. Now will need to double-check your actions because under the guise of bitcoin you can sell bitcoin in cash which nobody will buy and you will be without money. Be careful.

Bitcoin cash team PR fucked up here hard on BCC. You can not claim BCC while you have coin on market bitconnect form 2016...
I kno htey have big hopes but this is wrong. THey should start with unique name.
Same goes to copy paste logo of BTC... THat whole stuff loks to me like cheap China cloned product.

Because BCC was already given to Bitcoin Connect or it is realted to this project/coin. For that reason they also created BCH. This is a confusion that really works out. A lot of people who come new to the crypto space are totally confused because of this. Also, there seems to be one or two more abbreviations for Bitcoin Cash. This is not a good prerequisit to be successful long term.
