with the new generation of leaders in the world. Who do you think is the best PRESIDENT right now and why?

My vote goes for Vladimir Putin. He is not perfect, but I think that he is the most powerful president right now. Donald Trump is powerful, but he is not as capable as Putin. Duterte is capable, but he doesn't have much power outside the Philippines. And Angela Merkel has neither the capability, nor the power.

We are not talking about the most powerful president here but i think this is much more of how the president leads. So i will be voting for the Duterte which has change a lot of things shock the world on how he decide for his country. Within just 1 year of service

Duterte is the best President and leader of this generation. He is fearless because he knows that God ordained him.
He cared so much for the wellfare of the Filipinos including (OFWs) Overseas Filipino Workers.
Before he became President, he already showed his excellent leadership in his own local city.

I'm in shock! Is that a political club of losers? Putin, Duterte! You may think of Kim Jong-UN. The more the dictator oppressing his people, the more his love for him. Is that Stockholm syndrome? Putin has no one Russia is a powerful country on the screen only Russian TV. In fact it is a colossus with feet of clay. For duterte Philippines and even say nothing.

Yup. President should first be loyal to their own people.
And Putin and Duterte have one of the highest support in their respective country.
They aren't as corrupt as Trump who sell terror to it's own people.

Duterte is the best President. He did not run for presidency, but the majority Filipinos elected him and convinced him to run.
He is the peoples choice. He already proven his excellent leadership as a former mayor of his own town.
The social media like fb can tell all the true stories. But not the filtered TV news with some bias and wrong infos.
You would hear real stories from behind televisions. Filipinos love Duterte.

For pure effectiveness it has to be Putin. No one else has any balls or strategic vision. I suppose it helps rigging elections and framing and slaughtering rivals so you know you'll be in power for another few decades. You have the time to slow down and really plan for the future.

In terms of leadership ability, it has to be Vladimir Putin. No one else even comes close to him. And also it has to be remembered that he has been in power for almost two decades now, and his popularity has never declined below the 60% mark.

I'm an anarchist, not a hardcore one but I like the idea of being more self-reliant instead of reliant on hierarchical values. In terms of governance, it is evident that companies are more effective and efficient on providing services than the government. I haven't seen any leader accomplish so much all of them are just politicians doing basics things doing politician stuff, if a "leader" is doing a significant change, they just get killed or being overthrown by propaganda. I think governance systems are just as good as the education that surrounds it. Leadership is deemed to be unnecessary for the creative people. imo, Our governance model will be obsolete as cryto-systems emerge.

I think that Vladimir Putin is the strongest president and he has an excellent physical shape for his age. I just admire his rule and the envy of other presidents.

In my opinion, Merkel from Germany.
She made some very unpopular and hard choices and saved EU as institution, Euro as money and also she saved one million refuges from Syria and Iraq.
Merkel is not afraid to make the right decision, even if it means to loose public support and elections.
These are the qualities of a great statesman and not a small politician, and because of it I respect her very much.

Of course it is President Duterte for me because I live here in the Philippines and for me he is the best.  I have no knowledge about other president in the world and do not know their achievements.  Changed has come here in the Philippines.  Everything now have changed as it was promised by our President and we already feel it.  We voted for him because we believe in him and thus, for me he is the best.

President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines he is such a humble person i have ever known as President. After his 2nd SONA he faced the rallyist and it was a brave move. eventhough the rallyist was yelling at him yet desrespcting him, he was still speaking and elaborating the fact that is happening in the Philippines.

Sheikh Hassina is better than the previous one (Begum Khaleda Zia), but she was quite incapable in preventing the rise of the ISIS in Bangladesh. Also, under her rule a lot of atrocities against the minority Hindus and Buddhists have happened in that country.

For me  it's Rodrigo roa duterte hes not that powerful but his charismatic and serious to eliminate drugs and criminality also change his country for the greater good although there maybe some lapses in his actions. He is still just a human being that makes mistakes the country of the Philippines has really change even the corrupted government system has more  projects and buildings are being implemented, streets is once again is safe to walk in the night without criminals lurking around. Before almost everyday somebody will days because of some horrible crimes like murder, rape, kidnap or gang war. Now it has change and the criminals are being put into prison and get killed if they fight.

My vote goes for  Merkel from Germany. She is very clever pragmatist and very modest at the sane time. Able to  to make the right decision.

All of them are the best and kind there are kind of president and there are different of way on how they can handle the problem and belief that they can do it they will not run for president if they can't do the things that wanted to do in one country unity is the best also.

For me the best president for now is Mr. Rodrigo Duterte , Since she sits as a president the addicts are decrease in our area even though the pusher has been gone, not totally all but atleast some of them are in jail right now, i hope this happen will continue to the next generation.

The strongest and best president is Vladimir Putin. Perhaps sometimes he is too cruel, but after his reign the situation in the country has improved noticeably. If he still had normal assistants, then it would be possible to reach a better level.

This guy, is who all politicians should strive to be like. A true man of the people! This is the best description of this man, 90% of his salary is going to charity, he lived in his house on village where he lived before he become a president, his presidential residence he used just like his office. A man who live to serve my President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. No man deserve to be voted than this person who care so much of his people rather than himself. His idea of equality runs into his blood, his integrity cant be question for he doesn't even care to popularity. Transparency is one of his agenda. 911 Free Tuition and many more. Too many to mention actually.

I believe that the most powerful and best President is Vladimir Putin, he is a very strong man and he doesn't bow in the face of fierce opposition,  even in the face of scrutiny from the entire world,  he doesn't back down at all not like most President's and Monarchs in this world.

I think the best president for me is Duterte. He may not be a perfect president, but he is a man with one word, he keeps his promises and he does what he says. He is also honest with his words and he doesn't care who is he talking to when he speaks as long as he know that it's for his people and he is right.

The typical psychology of a slave. A free man can always have an opinion and it is able to adequately assess reality. Putin has no merit. In a few years like you will be the first to scream that Putin was to blame. But it's the lyrics. In fact, now there is no global leader. The world is becoming more multipolar. No country in the world now there is no leader who can change the world.

For me, it is from the Philippines, President Duterte. It is because he is always in the news because of his program war on drugs that he kill all the person who will catch with drugs. He also change the Philippines because the crime there has been lessen. He also lead the Philippines to a better country. That is only my opinion.

He is a good president and he is quite powerful, at least inside the Philippines. But he has very little influence outside his country. He even had a spat with Barack Obama, which strained the relations between the United States and the Philippines for a while.

That's true. But if I were to pick one president that has done all that he can, for the goodness of his country and his countrymen, I would definitely say it will be Barrack Obama. I mean, he has served the United States of America very well despite facing recessions but they got up and still they are one of the most powerful country here in the world. He has done a lot of good things especially to the LGBTQ Community. He is indeed the best president and leader of this generation.

We have different perception on politics people.. usually they immersed their presence during election, raising their advocacy's  to get their attention to majority. However people as of this age are very much educated in choosing the most qualified one.. We don't want politician's impressing just by words and not by action's.. Who care's to them.. The recent Philippine election sprout the perfect victory of Mr. Rodrigo Duterte and in just a few month's under his leadership.. with his anti drug campaign got an impressive noise to local and international media for arresting and killing drug syndicates. I guess he is the toughest and best President.

I am not sure there will be an agreement on who the best president is because there is no way they will satisfy all parties of the country at the same time not because of anything but simply because they occupy the position that every of their actions will spark off reaction somewhere else and based on our different value judgement we tend to either support or against such leader. For me, I haven't seen any leader to merit that position.

Definitely it is the president that you have in your country.  I am a resident of the Philippines so for me it is President Rodrigo Duterte.  He is the president of the Philippines who is ruthless to criminals, corrupt politicians, and drug addicts alongside with drug lords.  But have a heart of a father as a leader.  He all do this "cleansing" for the children, the next generation.  Many things have changed since he assumed his position as a president.  No smoking, emergency help hotlines, curfew, and you could actually feel his authority.  

Before I was like afraid of policemen, not because I am doing wrong but because they will do something bad to me.  But now I trust them now completely and with respect.

For me it is Pres. Rodrigo roa duterte he might say some bad words or flame but he has manage to change our country for the better because of him streets are now safe to walk even in broad daylight. He fighting drugs that will potentially ruin our young generations future with his campaign "Waelr on drugs" and putting behind bars corrupted government officials and politicians. Now the economy of the Philippines is slowly getting better. This country has changed so much because of him.

I totally agreed with him/her that the best president is Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Putin has already established his name and power through years while Duterte is still introducing himself in the world. Duterte has no plan in becoming president but because of the call of his countrymen, he decided to run for presidency. Many higher ups has a grudge on him because they perceive Duterte as Marcos. He is change and he will brought the change for us, Filipino.

For me, the best ruler is Vladimir Putin. He is a very strong president who only wants to improve his country and build peaceful relations with other countries, but the secret government deliberately substitutes him and makes him a bad ruler.

I believe that Putin is the leader of this generation, because there are too many false rumors about him and the world government wants to substitute him and destroy his country.

Merkel endangered the whole of Europe by allowing the "refugees" to enter , the deaths caused by these people's are on her end, no great leader will endanger his or her countrymen so that other will be happy.

I also like the way of putin ruling. He is self confident and very clever in politics. Russian people trust him and its also a very important thing.

It seems to me that every country has its own leaders and its own prejudices. It seems to me that the history of all generations shows who and where has made a huge contribution to the development of the country and the civilization of people. But nevertheless it is history that shows who of these people is really Great.

According to my choice, because I live in Indonesia, my idol president is still jokowi. Not only visible physical characters, but how to build an effective, open and quick government act in effect eg builders in the city area of ​​Indonesia. I am very proud to have a president jokowi.

I don't think that Duterte should trust China and Russia too much. Already China is threatening to invade the South China Sea islands controlled by other nations. And I don't think that Russia will help the Philippines, in case China attacks them. Duterte must forge strong bonds with nations such as India, Myanmar, Japan and Vietnam, as these nations are also facing a lot of Chinese bullying.

I think you have heard something wrong about the president of turkey. I am not Turkish but I realize that he is one of the best presidents in the world, who cares his people and the effected people (through any reason) of the world. I think there are many best presidents in the world. Like Brazil, Canada, and the sheikh of Brunei Darussalam. There may be many more but do not know the names of the presidents.

I would go with Barack Obama. He was one of the most pacifist presidents of the United States, and he withstood intense pressure from Israel, to opt out of military action against Iran.

In regards to who will be looked back at and admired as a strong, influential & diplomatic leader in this "generation", I believe PM Justin Trudeau of Canada will assume that role.  As someone who is always wise with his words, inclusive and supportive of his people, and willing to promote an agenda that will better suit the citizens of his county, in my opinion that makes him someone who fits the bill.

Completely agreed with that. Obama was a puppet controlled by powerful politicians such as Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden on the one hand, and oligarchs such as Soros, Rotchschild and Rockefeller on the other hand. I think Fidel Castro was the best president and leader. after his dead there is no man such like Castro. He had many challenges from other countries. but he faced for them very successfully and built very good country.

duterte is the best president in this generation because of its many facts that he proven. it's hard to deal with the problem of the Philippines, because of his bravery he has dropped a lot of drug laboratory throughout the Philippines.

In our country the best President is Du30. He was dedicated to work for his country but bias news trying to pull him down, fake news appeared in tv, social media and etc. supported by the other parties, since majority of the people here is illiterate so they are the ones who spread the fake news and used by the other parties, so poor country surrounded by a corrupt politician and sickness never end we called this as "crab mentality", hopefully our President can sustained and fight the biggest problem in our country, drugs and corrupt politician.

For me now even Marcos do something in our country in Philippines. i can say that he do a lot more than he could to get Philippines a better country. But for me The best president so far that i counter is president Duterte He is the one that keeps what he was promise and his goal is to serve people to serve country not for his own benefits or own pocket he is not a ordinary politician he gives hope to the filipino people, I wish he serve for long to get all the corruption in Philippines be gone.

He only says that only six months but i believe to that president because he is not scared from death but he is too old and he also did not want to be a president because it has a big responsibility, only people says that Duterte run for the country.  He made the Davao city to be a top two safest city in the world, that's why too people believe that he can do what he do for Davao into the Philippines.

Interesting to see the support for Duterte among the Filipino users here. If I remember correctly, I only came across a single Filipino user here, who opposed Duterte and his policies. The remainder (may be 95%), were all supporting him and his policies.

Perfectly agreed. Putin is the best president and leader of our generation. I am not a russian citizen but I can see his efforts to develop his country in every field like military, education, economics etc. Russia is one of the most powerful country now because of Putin.

When he became the president of Russia in 1999, that country was in the death-bed. Inflation was sky-high and the majority of the population was unemployed and looking for an option to emigrate out of Russia.

As of now the best president for me is the president of the Philippine Republic Rodrigo Dos Duterte. I think he is the best president now the very influential president in the world. Almost all the leaders know about him. Even the Philippines is not so large country but with his leadership he role with an iron  hand and now Philippines going well little by little.

In the current scenario i didn't find any one 100% perfect and best leader so far. But i feel President Rodrigo Duterte could become the “best president” the country would ever have if he would discard some of his old habits and develop some good traits of a national leader.

For me the best President is Rodrigo Duterte. He is trying his best to address the drug menace and looking after the peace and orderliness of our country.

My vote goes for Simonetta Sommaruga. I think the best elected leader in the world is Simonetta Sommaruga, a social democrat in Switzerland. Whether Sommaruga is alone responsible for the happiness of her people, her people are some of the happiest and most prosperous in the world.

I agree. And you have missed to mention that average age of males had dropped by 10 years during the Yeltsin period, and Putin brought it up again to normal levels. We are here talking about matters of life and death, nothing less.

I'm not sure I know enough about world leaders to give a perspective on this. I thought this answer was unfortunately hilarious though. Made me think of House of Cards although we are sure Putin does much more to attain power than 99% of other world leaders if that is what we're calling them.

Moscow and Peter accounts for close to 20% of the population. And the other regions are not that bad. Most of the people can be described as middle-class with less than 10% classified as poor. The situation is not all rosy, but it is much better than the case in neighboring nations such as Ukraine and Moldova.

Well, I guess you should ask yourself how this poverty would be if you still had someone like Eltsin instead. Statistics about average age don't lie. Had you still a Eltsin-like president there you would probably be even poorer and for sure die at least 10 years earlier on average (at least, because if things don't get better, they usually tend to get worse)

What I admire most today is Justin Trudeau. Half of his ministries are headed by women, fulfilling his promise in offering a greater female representation , in addition to respecting the diversity. Also I see a lot of humanity and empathy in his positions and I think the world needs examples like this. We Need More Justins!!!

For me the best president and leader in this generation is the current president of the Republic of the Philippines. His name is Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Philippines may not be one of the richest country in the world but Duterte's principle and stand gave him honor by other powerful leaders.

For me duterte, president of the Philippines. He is fearless and straight forward in all aspect. His personality is too strong that even the drug lord are afraid of him. His way of governance is different from others. People of the Philippines  need an iron fist, and that’s duterte. His war on drugs is doing good. The corruption is not that rampant compared in previous years. Project is every where. He is doing his job seriously!

I'm from Indonesia. I think Ir. Soekarno is also well deserved because of some reasons, Building tolerance in Indonesia through Pancasila. He thought about Pancasila while he was exiled in Ende. He has a lot friends from other religion both Catholic and Hindu. That's why he formulated Pancasila. I still like the leadership style by Soekarno which made him a good leader not only in Indonesia but also respected in Asia and Africa. He also had good diplomacy skills which made him and Indonesia has a lot friends from other country.
