Title: Help Required - Can't Spend Coins (lost??)
Post by: Torquemada99 on August 07, 2017, 10:17:04 AM
Hi All,

Hoping someone can help, I am having major issues with my Electrum wallet (v.2.9.0 on Windows10).   Back at the end of July I created a new wallet from seed, sent the contents of an online wallet to my electrum wallet and everything seemed OK, coins appeared as expected etc.

On Friday I came to send these coins back to an exchange and find that hitting the send or preview buttons did not do anything i.e. no response other than to change colour.  So I seem unable to send anything from this wallet.

Then today I created a new wallet with private key option and created another Electrum wallet with the private key of the address that the first wallet was showing.  This created OK with a new address, the new address shows the private key as per the first wallet but with 0 balance.

I then created 2 watch wallets on blockcainorg pointing at the 2 wallets.  Wallet 1 is showing the balance (wallet 2 as empty)  but if I try and spend the coins on blockchain.org (i.e. send to another wallet) it says the private key does not match that of the address.

I am really hoping I haven't messed up and lost all my coins :( Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Can you send the master public key of both of your wallets?
It may be possible you inputted the wrong seed into your second wallet or omething happened to the first wallet.
Are the addresses the same in all wallets?

you can't spend from watch-only wallets and besides this is the elecrum forum not blockchain.info forum.

When you say, "change colour"... do you mean the button changed colour or the input box where you type the amount you want to send changed colour?

If you are attempting to send the whole balance, it may be that you can't due to not having enough funds to then pay the fee as well (Electrum adds the fee on, it doesn't subtract it)... What happens if you click the "max" button?

Is this a standard, MultiSig or 2FA wallet? It should say in the title bar... something like: "Electrum 2.9.0 - wallet_Name [standard]" or "Electrum 2.9.0 - wallet_name [2fa]".

Also, if you goto "Wallet -> Seed", does Electrum ask for your password and then show the seed?
