Title: From Electrum 0.59b to newest Electrum
Post by: VexoCoin on August 07, 2017, 07:49:32 PM
I mined back in 2012 and had an Electrum wallet (0.59b). I have the mnemonic, and am able to restore without error in the newest version of Electrum, but the address generated is different (and empty).

When inputting my seed I must check "BIP39 seed" under "Options" or it will not allow me to press "Next". I did some research and found mention of the changes made going to version 1.8+, but I was unable to find any mention of this impacting a restore with a seed from before this time.

Another note that I do not see how could be relevant (but wth) is that I make no changes in the wallet derivation ("m/44'/0'/0'") formula.

Any help?

I may be able to help by next weekend, if you are still stuck by then.
I was very familiar with early Electrum versions.

It's not a bip39 wallet so why choose that option? bip39 didn't even exist back then! I suggest restoring in 1.8, grabbing your private keys and saving them, installing the latest version of electrum, creating a new deterministic wallet and sweeping your keys to it:

Problem solved  ::) Single word in mnemonic was in different language which I was completely blanking on the 20+ times I input it. :-[ Quite possibly the final line of defense put there on purpose by self!

Thanks, not sure I would have spotted that if you hadn't shown disbelief at it not functioning!
