● Run real world, responsive applications on a low cost, decentralized network.

● Decentralized open source "cloud".

● Near infinite scalability.

● Interoperability with current serverless applications.

● No blockchain or cryptography experience necessary.

The Kumo network will provide low latency access to a large number of nodes. Miners will be incentivized through the fee structure to run quality hardware and services. This will give users access to bulk commodity infrastructure through allowing miners of all types to parcticipate.

Great idea! I will check the whitepaper later and follow the project. GL guys!

Not enough information. Are there any sites? While the design of the project is not very solid.

So... Someone wants to calculate something so he rents (buys) some hashing power with kumocoin and those computers (miners) calculates what what was needed and then miners recieve cumocoins according to hashrate. Right? Thats a great idea we have coins and usefull calculations but I'm sure I have already read about similar coin that does exactly that (can't find it now).
But I don't get the security - well data will be stored in miners computers? It kinda looks like the cloud from pied pipers from silicon valley serial - one day we can have decentralized internet for sure. Near infinite scalability - well if the price goes up, then miners will jump on it, but yea time will tell.
Good luck :)

Thanks

Guys, what is the total supply of KMC? And what about ETH volatility? For example if you buy in the pre-sale and ETH will go down to $150 again, than in the main round your tokens will be 50% cheaper.

You should put more detailed information in OP.

"The first blockchain-based, decentralized, cloud computing platform" is wrong (and I'm not talking about the last comma).

A nice concept. This type of multipurpose use of block chain would certainly benefit everyone involved around blockchain diaspora.
A decentralized cloud computing would benefit both the users and contributors both financially and technically.

TBH there are few projects with the same concept - decentralized computing power. But what I think is different here in Kumo is the pay per execution model. I could be wrong tho, haven't checked all the other whitepapers.

Ok, found it in whitepaper:

Quote
How much is being sold?
  ○ KMCs will be sold in the following manner and at set rates during the sale:
     ■ Pre-sale - 6,000,000 KMCs are available at a rate of 1 Ethereum = 500
        KMCs
     ■ Deposit Period - KMCs will be available to be reserved during the deposit
period at the rate of 1 Ethereum = 200 KMCs; this period will be
        uncapped.
     ■ Main Sale - The main sale rate will be 1 Ethereum = 100 KMCs. The main
sale will end once 20,000,000 KMCs are sold in the Main Sale.

So supply isn't capped. :/

Hi kaduwall2 - our main goal is to have enough from our pre-sale to build a testnet and then v1 main net including developing the Kumo blockchain. Following that we will spend funds developing towards a goal of 1:1 platform capability to major cloud providers such as AWS or Azure.

We envision a future where applications can run, anonymously and/or autonomously if desired, on blockchain enabled networks like Kumo instead of centralized cloud providers. While there are several great "supercomputer" or p2p computing projects what we see is a disconnect between these projects (along with their stated use cases) and how full commercial applications at scale function/what the requirements of existing applications are to run at scale - with Kumo we would like to bridge that gap to have a blockchain enabled cloud to run real world applications.

This is a question we've had asked a lot and it's a good one - what makes Kumo different from the other projects out there? We were recently asked this in our discord chat; the TLDR comes down to Kumo's focus on latency, full cloud platform functionality, and a purpose built blockchain for running applications. The longer answer from our chat is here:

Q: What is the difference between  kumo and the other alternatives out right now? Golem, iexec and the elastic project.

A: With networks such as Golem and similar the focus is creating a "global supercomputer" which is great for tasks such as image rendering or specific tasks within applications that are not time sensitive/interactive such as batch processing.

With Kumo we are focused on tasks that have time sensitivity - ie the tasks that applications have to complete quickly as they involve a user feedback loop or are part of a sever/container/task workflow where tolerances or internal/external SLA's are measured in milliseconds vs minutes (or hours/days as in image rendering).

Essentially Kumo is focused on building the network, and distributed cloud platform, to run entire applications in real time in direct performance competition with major IaaS providers and allow developers to easily migrate existing jobs/tasks/portions of their applications (or entire applications) onto the Kumo network as they would between existing cloud providers such as AWS or Azure.

iexec would be most similar however the focus there (at least from what I understand currently) is to run on Ethereum to route tasks specific to dapps to available compute resources vs serving existing commercial/industrial tasks or applications in general that would run on a traditional cloud deployment.

Can we mine it?

Hi Lupanar - mining is a major core functionality of the in the Kumo network however rather than hashing to confirm transactions miners on the Kumo blockchain will be executing tasks to run real world applications, software, and websites. We would like to be a part of moving blockchain technology into real world use cases beyond fintech and with Kumo's blockchain we see a way to route tasks for applications and reward those who want to rent out compute resources.

One possible outcome of this that we would love to see is "costless computing" - where users are both consumers and providers on the network. The individual version of this is renting out a server that both runs your application or website while selling the unused compute to the network to offset SaaS or other services costs needed for your app.

The commercial version of this is utilizing significant existing data centers of major corporations that run "on-prem" and often sit idle waiting for peak usage. In our vision for these type of users the ability to leverage the Kumo platform and application/services marketplace while also monetizing underutilized compute resources creates a compelling alternative to scrapping their existing data centers to migrate to a legacy, centralized cloud provider.

Hi Everyone - Kumo Team Here. We officially wound down the project due to lack of demand. While we would have loved to proceed with building Kumo we made the decision that unfortunately we could not 100% proceed with confidence that we could complete the project and build it to full functionality based on the amount of ETH we had on hand.

Due to this we refunded all ETH and paid for the startup costs related to Kumo out of our pockets. Our sale wallet can be found here:

https://etherscan.io/address/0xb5e20f284a0af23550ed4d3e2e7a66e85983ee8b

Please feel free to reach out if there are any questions on the project either on here or to us at info@kumocoin.com we will continue to monitor both periodically for the next several months.

Again thanks for the support in the sale and our apologies we were not able to proceed as we truly feel projects like Kumo are what are needed to move blockchain technology into it's next phase of evolution.

Best,

Kumo Team
