Title: 7 GPU rig - one GPU running at 4 Mh/s (M.2 problem?)
Post by: brokenarrow2 on August 09, 2017, 11:13:41 PM
I got a Asus Z270-P with 7 RX 570 cards, and when I run them all, one GPU has just 4 Mh/s hashrate.

One of them is on the M.2_2 slot, and this also happened when I had only one card connected to the M.2_2 slot. When I moved it, it was full speed. My M.2_2 settings is set to PCIe, but I tried auto to with no difference.

I tried to disable everything that I don't use, including all SATA-ports but one, using SATA6G_4 at the moment. Tried 1 and 2 also. I read something that M.2_2 shares something with SATA6G_1, but this doesn't seem to make a difference, since I'm using _4 now. I also disabled audio, yet i see three devices called "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus". Not sure where that came from, started showing up recently, and maybe they interfere?

I tried again, with nothing on the M.2_2 slot, all other cards on the PCI-slots, and it seems like the slow card is on PCIEX1_1, next to the M.2_1 slot. Are they in conflict?

Any clues or steps to figure this out?

I would recommend you return the board if possible and get the Z270-AR. Works with 7 GPUs without the use of a M.2 slot. BitsBeTrippin has a video on how to setup the BIOS for it.

Connect a display to that particular card.

your m2 to pcie adapters do not need a separate power supply. just leave it unconnected.

I have 8 gpus working just fine on my z270-p

Thanks for your replies. The solution was to connect the HDMI-cable to the card connected with a riser to the PCIEX16_1 slot, then I got full speed on all of them!

Don't connect any display adapter there, use remote access such as Teamviewer, RDP to tunnel in.
