Title: is pgp compatible with gpg
Post by: ctoon6 on June 21, 2011, 08:45:05 PM
Is it, everyone seems to use gpg around here, but i use windows so the only options are the windows ui version of gpg that crashes or pgp. I would rather use pgp if it will be compatible with gpg.

If by "compatible" you mean that one program will recognize encrypted and signed messages created by the other then yes.

It is compatible, yes--you can sign and encrypt messages that PGP users will be able to verify and decrypt, and you can verify and decrypt messages from users of PGP.

it is not a drop-in replacement, so if you have scripts that rely on calling pgp in certain ways, you'll need to adapt them to gpg.
