What is the common difference between bitcoin and altcoin ?

Bitcoin, to put it simple is the reigning "King". While altcoins or “Bitcoin alternative,” is any other form of coins that is not bitcoin, it is also any coin that will be launched in the future. Altcoins are referred to as Bitcoin alternatives because, at least to some extent, most altcoins hope to either replace or improve upon at least one Bitcoin component.

Bitcoin is the original crypto currency. All Alt-coins came after.

both of them are important too me but for me the answers is simple that bitcoin as the first

bitcoin is father of altcoins ithink if the value strongly continues pumping in the decentralized cryptocurrencie the altcoins for my opinion have a potential to uprise the value with connecting into the value of bitcoin in cryptocurrency using the power of decentralized currencies. the difference of bitcoin and altcoin, the alcoin can't reach the value of bitcoin always the bitcoin is on the top in currency. but all coins have to chance to get value in the cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency in the world and other crypto create after it was considered as altcoin since they are just following the same concept of bitcoin majority of them. From the word itself. "Altcoin" its an alternative coin besides bitcoins but there are lots of altcoin in the market which do have potential which do have some features that you can see on bitcoin but yet the crowd or community do still have the strong trust to the original one.

I see from other common perspectives, not too hard understanding. For me, bitcoin more accepted than altcoin as another alternative payment and a new way making profit. If we choose bitcoin as business or job, bitcoin has bigger chance to survive and making money than altcoin. Bitcoin as mother coin will always number one, altcoin only follow it. Major between bitcoin and alt coin are the technologies behind every alt coin. The only function of Bitcoin is to send and receive while Alt coins have more function than that.

Alts are evolving while bitcoin is improving.

Currently bitcoin is the king of various coins that exist in cryptocurrency, so to get a better profit of course bitcoin be an investment or trading option because the function of bitcoin is a valuable asset and has the highest value in the crypto market.

Very simple, bitcoin is the core coin, it has an impact on all other altcoin. Conversely, all other coins that are not bitcoin are altcoin. Altcoin is very diverse, but in common is the association with bitcoin.

Bitcoin is more famous than altcoin and bitcoin has more better price than altcoin in the world of cryptocurrency. But when it comes to investing they say it much good to invest your money in altcoin than bitcoin.

The value not prove this coin is good for investing, if the ratio growth every month of Bitcoin worse than other altcoin as Ethereum, Dash, LBRY ... I still choose Altcoin for invest.

For me, the common difference of bitcoin and altcoin is a bitcoin has higher value but hard to earn while an altcoin has a lower value but easy to earn. If you want to earn bitcoin you should work hard. Also, if you want to invest, bitcoin is harder to invest than altcoin. Even altcoin has lower values than bitcoin you can have more altcoin faster. But on choosing which cryptocurrency you're going to use, it is your choice.

In my opinion, in essence, they are not different, but the market makes a difference between bitcoin and altcoin because of their value. With its long standing existence and great source of power, bitcoin overwhelms all altcoins.

there are a lot of differences but the most common one is the fact that bitcoin has succeeded in becoming a real currency and fullfill the cryptocurrency role but altcoins have always been only speculation tools to get pump and dumped.

there are more technical differences too. like the blocks, the mining algorythm, the block size, the block time,.... and a lot more. you see it is not easy to compare bitcoin versus all the altcoins in general this way because the differences are sometimes so many.

Ahahaha seriously speaking the prices are the most common difference in them, they were both crypto currency but differs in purpose, prices and its features. we may tend to say that they are still the same yes it is, but as what i can observe bitcoin and alt coins are inversely proportional sometimes for some of the alts

Your parable is very simple and true Because then all altcoin under Bitcoin and altcoin will not replace Bitcoin.

This is a good example because the price of bitcoin today is so high and we can see that altcoins also depends on it. People using altcoins always go backs to bitcoin no matter what.

Bitcoin is the main coin of all atlcoin, if altcoin is an intermediate from altcoin to bitcoin, like the country's currency is USD bitcoin, because USD is the highest, so bitcoin is the main key of all altcoin prices

The main difference is that Bitcoin is the pioneer of all crypto currency out there, which makes bitcoin the "King" of all coins, or the coin on top of it all. On the other Altcoins / Alternate crypto currencies are coins other than bitcoin. Altcoins are also coins that are based on bitcoin with added features or maybe added uses. Altcoins could be used to trade or converted to bitcoin. So, basically Altcoins are coin that are not Bitcoin.

The first digital currency exist in the world of cryptocurrencies is bitcoin and followed by some digital currencies of what we called it altcoins. And most know to everyone among digital currencies is bitcoin.

Bitcoin is the first virtual currency I know that still exists and is increasingly popular today, while altcoin is a new coin developed by developers with various purposes, they are equally enliven the virtual currency market in the world of cryptocurrencies  ;D

Common difference? Well the thing comes to my mind is their value. They do really differ on that way and 2nd is that Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency and all coins after it is just an altcoin. Even though there are lots of altcoin in the market we can still see potential coins which would possibly surpass bitcoins value on upcoming years but well this would depend if community would adopt it or decide to switch back.

bitcoins is a digital currency , it is like the king of all digital currencies as its value is highest among all of them , almost all the altcoins where made after seeing the success of bitoins , bitcoin has a big community behind it .
people use BITCOINS   to buy ALT COINS as an asset to benefit them in future ,
people trust altcoins as they did on bitcoins as an investment .
most of the altcoin users are/where bitcoin users first .there are altcoins like ethereum which may grow up to challenge bitcoins with new and enhanced avantages but for now bitcoins rule the digital currency era with its huge value crossing $4000 and great advantages .

Well Bitcoin is the very first crytocurrency ever created and is the most known out of all the cryptocurrencies while Altcoins are alternate coins created after bitcoin. Both are good and have different objectives but they are great if they work in harmony. You can't appreciate Bitcoin without an altcoin and you can't appreciate an Altcoin if you don't have bitcoins or haven't tried bitcoin to save or hodled.

Alt were created to do task btc sometimes fails to do. Like when it's too expensive there are alts that can be a substitute for that transaction.example in investing ICo, in playing gambling.

as others have posted: bitcoin was the first coin and it is still the biggest coin there is, so other coins were just called alt coins because they were an alternative but not as big as bitcoin

The terms I can give are altecoin as the goods and bitcoin as the money. That's the unum picture of my opinion. If there is no bitcoin and altecoin then bitkoin is also useless.

Bitcoin has became a synonym to cryptocurrencies. For most of the people, cryptocurrencies mean Bitcoin. Anyone who enters the cryptocurrency market usually always starts with Bitcoin and through that they enter altcoin market. Opposite is a rare a case. Altcoin as the name suggests are just other coins.

i don't think so... it is still alternate coin, and that is why it is called ALTERNATE coin because of the reason stated above, but you can sell it to convert into bitcoin. the difference is not only the name of its coin, but its function and uses, and much more is that they par lower than bitcoin's price, there are also alt coins existed that almost within the price of bitcoin but it still varies to the price of bitcoin.

Even with the example you put of both search engines none of the ones you mention could be BTC because according to history there were others search engines before of both,the two could  be altcoins in the example,but I still think the story here is something different between both things among which is the comparison.

It is better to ask for the difference between bitcoin and a specific altcoin. Because altcoins have different uses. But in general, altcoins are different from bitcoin and are called as alternate because they are just following the overall model of bitcoin. They are following the footsteps of bitcoin in other words.

Theres an basic and very common difference in altcoin and bitcoin.First their are both Cryptocurrencies and both of these were known in crypto world but the difference of them bitcoin has the higher amount while altcoin is next to bitcoin.And Bitcoin is compared as gold.Just like the Dollar in National universal currency the Bitcoin is the Universal currency in cryptocurrency.
