Why shouldn't the victim be looking for the thief instead of the other victims he bought from? Why not repossess the thief's property in the first place as opposed to forcing other people to do the job?

If several days had passed, I'd feel differently, but we're talking about a timeframe of less than an hour or so here. Hell, the sell itself was instant. Maybe I'm missing something, I don't see what the actual losses from rolling back the trades are, except for the market effects of this whole ordeal, of course.

Pawn shops usually check a database to see if items are stolen. If nothing is reported stolen in 24-48 hours, they get to keep them. PERHAPS we need a website that keeps track of reported stolen bitcoins. Title: Re: Is this really justice? There are posters everywhere in school about "Don't do drugs", but people still do them... There are warnings to change your password, but people still don't do it... Well, still, it's not the most moral method: to seize funds from people other than the original perpetrator. Adding more victims should never be the solution. Title: Re: Is this really justice? The only pro to doing it that way is that a perp has less incentive to pay or trade for things with the stolen coinage.
