Title: Request for a Malaysia Local Board
Post by: gittoproject on August 11, 2017, 12:08:17 PM
Dear admin & team of moderators on Bitcointalk.

I think it's about time for Malaysians to have a local board on this forum. The existing thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=85430.0) is cluttered and too mixed up.

This could bring more Malaysian that actively involves in bitcoin related project. A lot of us in Malaysia aware of this cryptocurrency but I think probably the language is the barrier eventhough English is the main languange. It will be much comfortable to speak/type in your own native language, isn't it right?

I don't actually care though.. As a Malaysian I don't speak Malay too much too

Only admins can decide whether to add it or not but here's the simple requirement for approval: enough demand i.e. having a lot of Malaysian bitcointalk-ers. If not then unfortunately you can continue using that thread in Other languages/locations board (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=11.0).

As long as Malaysians do not increase their activity on this local page, Moderators will not add the Malaysian board.
As I see in the local page, I do not think there's a chance.

It doesn't matter if the language is in English or Malay. We could use the local board to arrange a meet up or maybe plan together and host an event to educate the public on how to identify genuine cryptocurrency from a fake one.

There are many of my friends who are excited to buy Bitcoin but they lack the knowledge and thought they have to go through a 3rd party to get their coin. It never cease to amaze me how greedy people out there keep coming up with schemes related to Forex, gold and now, cryptocurrency. We need to do something before they destroy the market again  ::)

First things first: are there enough activity in the Malaysian local thread to begin with? If there is then maybe we could ask theymos and Cyrus for stats. The thing is, local boards aren't created unless there is sufficient activity happening on their local thread. This is so because it will spend some resources and ample amount of time to deploy the local board.

That would be nice. There is not much activity because everything are thrown inside that thread.
Nobody could keep up with one particular post and then another unrelated post come up.
Thats annoying hence we didnt opt to use that thread.

Giving us our own local board is a good idea. And very much needed.

I think Malaysian thread isn't active enough to get local board. I looked through this thread and I see it's mainly filled with bounty campaigns content. Even more active countries (Ukraine, Pakistan, Serbia, Vietnam) didn't got their local board. You, Malaysians, need to proove that you really need for local board by making active discussions in current thread.
