Project goal

We want to establish a high-end board games publishing studio, using a blockchain-based funding to break the traditional board games funding cycle, relying to Kickstarter or corporate funding. We will still use Kickstarter for profit and marketing purposes, as there is no better marketing tool available, but we would not depend on it. In order to ensure higher profits for the token owners and long-term funding for our game line, we will make a partial investment in a mining farm and offer shared profit from the moment it starts working (for 24 months at its full power or equivalent at lower processing power).


Board games

BLOCKCHAIN: THE CRYPTOCURRENCY BOARD GAME is the first high-end strategy game involving the  cryptocurrency mining process and investment. The game features:

• 1-5 player competitive gameplay
• Under 90 minutes play time
• 85* coins for mining
• 15* ICOs/TOKENS
• 25 algorithms
• Hardware ranging from a single CPU to mining rigs and ASICS
• Small share of exchange mechanisms are in the base game

* Numbers may vary because of KS stretch goals and paid additions
** Missing currencies may be added upon request for a fee

There are four planned expansions for the base game, featuring additional mechanics, market updates, new cryptocurrencies, new hardware and rig upgrades. The expansions will add exchanges, mining farms and forks, and the final expansion will introduce complete revamp of the gameplay mechanics.

We have one game nearly ready to be published (in beta test soon) -  Primewarp: Genesis is a post-cyberpunk PvP/PvE game, mixing realistic sci-fi and dark fantasy in a narrative story, and featuring some unique, never seen before gameplay mechanics. The game is massive, with 18 map tiles, over 600 cards, 15+ different great models sculpted by Francesco Orrù (total number of miniatures TBA).

Our plans also include two more AAA games that would be announced closer to completion. Both of them will receive lots of attention by the hobbyists. Every game we publish will be kickstarted in order to gain a maximum marketing value of each new project.



Our plan to make Cryptum Tokens profitable for you

Cryptum tokens are basically a subscription for our future games (with artifical inflation of the required number of tokens based on tiers). On top of that you can claim a part of each new game profit based on your token ownership (details announced separately) and initial amount of our upcoming Cryptumcoin (TBA).

UPDATE: Games information:

For the Primewarp game development you can check Cute Lizard's (https://www.facebook.com/cutelizardgames/) page, the 3D sculpts are being pushed even now (albeit at a slower rate as we have to pay for each of them, and right now there is a conflict of interest between paying sculpts and paying for Cryptum advertisement, one of my big rants), the art is 100% done and paid to Nicolas Nexz (and much of it is on the page), but we don't have final layouts, and considering there are over 500 cards, this will take a while. Then there is half the boards to be finished, we have the basic layouts from the artist that worked on them, but all the details and lighting on 9 of the steampunk-ish tiles and on one of the sci-fi tiles are not added yet - again, because its a full time job, and right now it's lower on the priorities list.

About the Blockchain game - the graphics are the last thing to come to the game (after all, they depend on the ICO), so no pictures. Below are the lists of algos and coins included so far, mind you - we will probably add more as stretch goals during the KS campaign. In fact I will compile an article and put it on the website, none of us considered it that important, testing mechanics and rules doesn't require that information (we have just numbers there) and it's considered part of the final workings, and some of them might change, considering there will be some changes on the market by the time the game enters more active development.

Of course, right now we are mostly concentrated on the sale, listings and so on, considering the game depends on its result. If the funds are low at the end of the sale we may consider pushing Primewarp to top priority, as it's in later stage of development, and the funds it would generate would pay for the work on the Blockchain. Since the board games will be published only in English (based on our experience, with the amount of English terminology involved and we'd prefer nearly language-independent components instead of translations), and we are practically selling English games subscription, we will not translate the project to other languages. This being said, the games may receive rules translations as part of their campaigns, community efforts or local publishing partnerships.

This project looks interesting, I hope you can compete with other projects, because in this month ICO very much.
Do you have any special plans?

I can't think of many projects that have even comparable overall value. May be some of the digital world product access tokens, but they are very hard to evaluate for most people, so they stick to the PR and hype. We are launching this because we were frustrated by all the pointless ICOs as much as everyone else while we had much better idea how it should work.

There is some good publicity on the way, we haven't even announced the game in the hobby world, and it's nothing short of unique, and tied to a very unique project. Right now we are busy submitting the sale to all the ICO listing websites (darn there are many), it should start to pop-up in a day or two :)

While I might disagree on some of conclusions, namely the team rating - the 4 core members are easy to find, and the rest are somehow irrelevant to the rating, but I understand that this is comparison rating and we don' live to the hype of having few famous members) and the overall conclusion regarding the blockchain knowledge and suitability (it's entirely possible to make the games w/o the blockchain, but absolutely impossible to fund them in this manner and create a mini economy including them in any other way), I still thank you for the honest review, it gives us some insight on what and where we need to improve before the launch.

There was a now missing question about investor protection (if I understood correctly, unless the person was asking about data security :D)

Well, there is none, we have zero desire to bring local bureaucracy and blockchain technology together, it's 2017 and they still have problems understanding PayPal. It's de facto bonus system over the token trade cost and you get it by a smart contract (or in case of BTC payment - manually, but that's common enough). It's not much different than normal crowdfunding in the games businessл We keep absolute control over the funds so we can work freely with anyone and however we see fit, We stand by names and businesses, and anyone can make a trust-check, even if he has to work around Google translate a bit.

Still, for your peace of mind, we have some news regarding a big corporate back we are going to lean to. Will be announced in few days.

We got some large investors interest, which would work well enough for us. The project is highly unusual, and since it doesn't follow the set of large promises and advertisement, it's bound not to attract the level of attention even ICOs with fairly obscure but well-dressed promises got in the past, and right now there are hundreds of ICOs. We can't make people look deeper here instead of ... say a coin that is advertised by famous rapper. If we could afford the said rapper, it would just take from the the funds invested, and following that - from the profits, as the project cap is low*

As for clarity, besides having a team that worked in public for over 15 years and old companies with clear history, passing all checks for connections with shady practices, and pretty much everything regarding the games part of the project already shared with the public, and we are publishing the mining project specifications in a day or two. There is another announcement on the way, as one of the top game development companies in Central Europe pledged their support for Cryptum in the form of developers and artists, but until we get clearance to publish it, there is no more to say on the matter.

It's just there isn't a lot more to add. We make games and a backup mining project scaling with the total funds, and token owners get profits and games subscription. The coin project is not revolutionizing anything, it's a currency we would use and people would trade. Since trading Cryptum tokens is in our own interest, exchange listings and other similar data is meaningless as of this moment, or it was already in the whitepaper or the articles on the website.

If people want specific answers they would ask.

Please do not mistake basic attention hooks like translations, bounties, etc. with project interest. The same way we got countless offers or paid listings, we also got quite a few people willing to back a real business plan with tons of potential. Should be visible once the sale starts anyway.

*there is only so much we need and can manage. $100 million target would make it so much news-worthy, but with $65M we would just buy the top two of three board games publishing companies instead of starting a new one.  :D

Hi Cryptum team,

I have just registered here to ask a couple of questions:

- Do I get the tokens immediately and when they can be spent?
- If I want to participate with Bitcoin instead of ETH when do I get the tokens?
- Is there any information on when the tokens will be listed on Exchanges and what exchanges are planned?

I really like the idea about a crypto board game and your ICO project does seem interesting and quite different than most other I've checked and/or participated in, though it has been mostly for quick profit. Here however I would really want to get one board game to play with my crypto friends at least, before dumping on an exchange or maybe not... hahhaha :)

Anyway, please answer my questions as I'm currently considering to participate and since there are no ETH in my wallet I want to use BTC, but if the terms are not as good as with ETH I might exchange them for ETH instead. I see there is a bonus at the moment for ETH purchase, so this should make participation with Ethereum more reasonable, or not? Sory for the too many questions.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, I was making some changes on the first page.

May be it's not clear on the website, I'll have a look now and make it clearer:

1. Yes, if you pay with ETH you get them now, but they are locked until the Stage I sale end (16 October)

2. If you pay with BTC, you get your CRTM on October 16. I'd still advise you to get them now with ETH, the bonus is  better than the BTC bonus, even if you swap them at exchange and get them back in your wallet, but it depends how much you want to buy, ofc. If you have 0.0135 BTC, you will lose some to fees, so you'd be better with the BTC payment.

3. The moment we have them unlocked, we will start the process. I can only promise about Cryptopia and some of the token-centric exchanges (I'll ask my colleague Anton Belev to chime in here, it's his job).

A bit awkward way to answer, but we will not list on YoBit, and I think we'll have problems with Bittrex and Poloniex as they are US-based and our tokens have some features that they might find unwanted (these are optional, yet, it's big unknown atm). We are still investigating in regards to Nova Exchange and we have no idea what will happen to the Asian market, considering the China ban of ICOs.

I'm fine with Cryptopia in general, though they seem to have had some issues lately, not a big fan of YoBit however, though still have to use them from time to time.

I don't have any affiliation with Cryptopia, but I'm an user there as many others. IMO their "issues" came from a leak elsewhere, and are mostly connected to someone trying to guess your password based on a data they have - meaning some other website email database probably leaked, clearly not with the same passwords. As I wrote an email to Cryptopia the moment I received another of those mails, I followed their advice to include 2FA security and I had no more problems since.

We will use Cryptopia as they have clear listing policy compare to many others, and fair volume on most trades. Of cource it will not be the only option.

I wasn't talking about that kind of issues with Cryptopia, read about the problems reported by some users, but didn't have an issue with that.

I meant a recent issue with a crypto wallet in maintanance mode for a long time inthere, still much better than YoBit that often go into maintanance on a lot of coins and never get out of it.

With Ethereum based tokens however there should be no such problems, that is unless there is an issue with Ethereum itself as there are some hardforks incoming along the way to bring new features.

I mean this is the face of the project so I want to get more info about it: what it is going to be, how is the development going, what coins will be included and other important shit like that? It seems you know your stuff as far as board games go. I'm interested mostly in the Blockchain game tho, will keep an eye out for more info. Wasn't expecting an answer like that for sure.

Why not?  Board games are long past being a niche product for nerds, and it's a business opportunity that allows us to circumvent the rich corporate bullies and still produce quality products and find a place on a market that is becoming part of the modern culture.

It's not another ticket system, exchange, casino tech, video games (currency) or whatever else was already explored past reason. We don't raise money to build hype or to pay a third of them for advertisement. It's not even simply board games, and we thought of a way to minimize the risks.

Personally I'm OK with any business attempting an ICO.  Right now everything is about how much you will spend on marketing. Pay enough to twitter cheerleaders, for banners and website promotional spots and you can sell your grandma her teeth twice. As long as you receive more than you invested, it even considered success.

I'll be keeping an eye out on the project development.

Not that I have too many posts, even if I've been around for a while.

On the draw board again, after we had to start over using another algorithm and wallets. I'll have to ask for details, I'm not the software specialist. We are negotiating exchange places with some of the major exchanges vs. including them in the mining game, so there is a good chance it will be featured here and there right from the start in December. Still, until we have formal positive answers from them, we can't tell it's happening.

We also decided to add metal BTC and ETH instear of paper or plastic tokens to the game as an easy Kickstarter stretch goal. Physical metal coins in the game, sounds really nice. The printed tokens also look quite nice, though nothing can beat metal when we are talking about coins.

Only Bitcoin and Ethereum coins in the game, right? Any chance for additional coins to be made into physical metal ones in the game, life for instance Zcash, Monero, Litecoin or Dash?

Maybe if a big investor in the ICO comes in or as an additional bounty or goal to have the option for another one to be released in the form of actual metal coins, even maybe in the form of game expansion.
Have you given some though about that as an option already or not yet? For me it sounds like a really good idea as who will not want to have metal crypto coins with the game, even if they do not hold the same value as their actual counterparts.

Then there is also the chance to offer just the metal coins separately from the board game as well at a price that would make them a novelty item that could interest other people that are not interested in the Blockchain board game.

We can make additional coins as add-ons, but they would not have purpose in the game - only the Bitcoins and Ethereum will be used as end game currencies (in fact they are just "points"). We also have to consider the minimum manufacturing amounts, otherwise the metal coins will cost a fortune on their own!

Other than that - the idea of adding such coins if someone invests heavily in the ICO sounds good, we'll try to implement it, although we may have problems depending on the currency logo (some of them are really bad).

We will have the coins for sale together and separately from the board game during the Kickstarter of the game. It all depends on the quality though, making something that represents a game token (the board game term, not the ICO token) is easy, but it is fairly low quality compared to a HQ metal coin. We'll live and see :)

We may not have enough time to push HQ coins together with the ICO, it would requie quotation from manufacturer, and that takes weeks at best. Still, we'll try!

Would love to get some extra coins and give them away to friends, perfect for a present, especially if they are not into crypto yet. Then send them some fraction of a BTC to get them even more interested in the whole thing.

Allocating tens to hundreds of thousands for marketing of an ICO does not mean it is a good product in the end, it only makes it popular.

We need a day or two before we announce some news about the Godforge (https://cryptum.co/cryptum-board-games/godforge-the-first-war/) board game. It's going to be a yuge project  ;)

Popular = more funding, whatever the final product, if any. Nowadays 10-15% of the cap should be advertisement, yet if we do that, it means 10-15% on top of the cost of the games, which makes them insanely high, considering how much cheaper is their marketing. And that budget doesn't necessary mean so much more investors, but it builds the overall hype.

Spending even half that - like 350k (and the pile of offers in the our email amounts for way more) on banners and promotions when we can develop the whole board game line for as much and reap the profit together with smaller number of investors, is a simply a waste.

Marketing sells and people seem to prefer to buy into big promises and then speculate on the outcome than to invest into more solid long term projects that can actually be achieved.

Well, in our case, more power to you!

Good news about the games development for Primewarp and Godforge, both will be pushed in KS earlier than expected. 10+1718.19/27500=10.06247964 CRYC/CRTM right now, and it grows with each sale.

BTW, "sold" means sold + any bonus CRTM, so buying before 26 October means we will include 5% more CRTM and will help raising the rate.

It was more of a question of deliverance. How many of the huge ICOs delivered and with how many your only return was selling the tokens for profit?

P.S. Right now X profit will go to Y people for Z time. With some 100-200 BTC spend on "great opportunities to promote" it would be same X to Y+1000 people for Z time minus few months, but we and the promoters will be happier. Hence we don't care SO much about popularity.

As for market cap, can't tell how many there will be in circulation until the ICO ends, but based on the initial price and if gets as much interest as any other new Equihash-based coin (and there is no reason not to), it can outgrow the and BTCz and HUSH current cap (say $2.5 million and 4.5 million) in 12-13 days - again, depending on how much the premine is.

1/10 to 1/12 from Zen, I hope? Makes a dollar to dollar and a half for coin, or 10-15 dollars a token (more if the ICO ends up closer to 15 coins for each token) and they cost like $6 each now. If that pays for the tokens, your games and profits are just a nice bonus, even if they make 95 percent of the ICO so the potential is huge.

If you put a block time more than 180 seconds we might end up with something better than ZEN!

There is a good chance for that, considering Hush, Zcl and Komodo weren't traded as much and didn't gain much value. They also had to build a lot of time to reach some meaningful market cap, where Cryptumcoin trade will be established faster.

Zen is a goal, but we want to go past it. BTCz is traded for more than 1/1000 of Hush/Zcl, and there is  aplace to expand as long as Zec is one of the main currencies. 1/15 from Zec... now that's a worthy target! :D

Concerning the “Blockchain: The Cryptocurrency Board Game”, are you going to run the campaign on Kickstarter or Indiegogo? Any estimation when the campaign will go live? Do you have a roadmap for the campaign launch?

May 2018, may be start end of April or postpone to beginning of July depending on the other KS during the time. We'd really want to avoid running the campaigns along with ny CMON big titles or anything that draws a lot of funds, although it's hard to find such a window lately.

Indiegogo should go earlier, may be when we have some printed prototype, and it will help us advertise the KS. Already got some pricing on BGG advertisement and ideas how to run social campaigns.
