Title: How to add Images and Banners in Bitcointalk.org
Post by: cryptounite on August 12, 2017, 09:46:59 AM
I have been using markdown and wordpress from some time, and I am pretty familiar with them, but on bitcointalk.org, I am alien to the posting interface.

After searching on google how to add images and banners on bitcointalk forums, there are only few threads that say add [Image][/Image](short codes, Image written so that it can be seen) for images and nothing about banners, I am pretty much interested in being an active member of bitcointalk but I am having issues while adding images and banners.

If anyone can help me how to actually add the images and banner, I will add the trust score if I find any reply helpful, but I don't know much what trust score is either, but it looks quite important for members, so anyone who will be able to help me to add images and banners, I will help him back by adding trust score if I can do that.

Thank you for your help. :) :)

Put this
Code:
[img]LINK[/img]

I suggest you to replace the link text with tinyimg.io , you can upload there the images , and if you want a signature you must be minimum jr member rank

Every two-week period, there is a potential 14 activity for every member. If you completed 14 posts on the said period, you'll get 14 activity which is the maximum. To be a Member, you need 70 activity which is approximately 5 periods (1 1/2 month) and by then you would be able to add images in your posts.

Andrew1337 and dothebeats pretty much answered your questions correctly.

Just to add, just so if you might be planning on doing this in the future, you cant use the
Code:
[img][/img]
tags on your signature(the space below your reply) since images on user signatures are not allowed. This is probably to easily limit the signature space restrictions for certain ranks, or probably to speed up bitcointalk's loading time.

You will achieve that in 2weeks with 3 posts per day, you need 100merits though before you can become a sn member.

No, 100 merits is needed to become Full Member, while to become Sr. Member you need to get 250 Merit. And about activity - you can get max 14 activity in two weeks period. So, it's enough to make one post per day to get max activity. Anyway, activity doesn't means much if you don't have Merits earned.

I use https://imgur.com/upload in uploading pictures. Here's a tutorial for you:

Go to the website and click "Browse"

https://i.imgur.com/ZxiqslV.jpg

Once you uploaded the picture click the encircled part

https://i.imgur.com/mHMPtF0.jpg

And then click "Get share links"

https://i.imgur.com/XXNtYSy.jpg

After clicking, find the "BBCODE" then click copy

Onced you copied the link, you can now paste it on your post reply/new topic. The link is automatic so you don't have to put the code. Just paste it :)

Are you referring to the signature? If yes, you can check this guide (link below), it might be helpful:

By banner, I presume you mean signature really. If you want to create your own one, it’s not down to creating an image file, like I’ve seen you’ve tried on another thread. You need to create it in BBCode. That is not trivial, and you need to invest quite a bit of time, but some of the basics are explained here:

How to make bitcointalk signatures [ Logo and Images included ] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2198076.msg22090923#msg22090923)
How to Become Signature Master in 12 Hours. I did it, so can you (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4463329.msg40001031#msg40001031)
[LEARN] BBCode Lessons & Tutorials [+tutorial videos!] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1727100.msg17283187#msg17283187)

You can get a rough idea by lowing at bounty threads, and seeing the signature structure they use, which is what people place in their signature space. Not trivial to design, but there are some online tools that may help you (one of the above links reference a couple). There are also people here that can design a signature for you (check out the Services thread), if you need a good design but lack the time or knowledge on how to create one.

Is there no place in this Forum where someone can get any images that are not related to any campaign avatar to make use of?🤔
I was thinking that the Forum have a place that members can go and select any images that have Bitcoin logo to be making use of until he or she joins a campaign.

This thread was inactive for 3 years since 2021 before you bumping it in 2024.

The forum is not avatar-hosting forum or website and avatar is user privilege, they are free to wear avatar or don't wear it. If they want to wear avatar, it's their personal avatar, so personal choice to find one or design one to use.

I joined the Forum 2 years back 2022 and I'm seeing this thread this year that's why I decided to bump it in 2024 to get answers or maybe discuss more on it.
I noticed the Forum isn't an Avatar hosting place but is a question and there's nothing bad in having any in the Forum. I know some members would like to also wear an avatar to some how feel among those who are in a sig campaign and I don't think is a bad idea if we have such a place to select an avatar from, since we know is not all users that knows how to customize or design an avatar.
