if you paid 0.0013BTC in fees then there is nothing you can do about it, you can complain to that exchange why they are taking that big a fee from you. or stop using it and use another exchange that takes a smaller fee for withdrawals. for example i heard that poloniex and bitstamp are taking 0.0001BTC fee! It's an exchange so I believe that's normal as their transaction contain multiples outputs and inputs. If you want to avoid that, you must stop using exchanges, start using wallets that allow dynamic fees and trade with other individuals on the forums, It will cost you much less.

A lot of people cannot handle the success that Bitcoin had lately, so they started to spam the network again. The exchanges will latch onto that again and charge higher fees than normal. {in some instances, this is not even necessary} http://bitcointicker.co/networkstats/ Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! Post by: Dudeperfect on August 13, 2017, 08:39:35 AM I am not sure why this is happening but when I use blockchain.info wallet to send funds (they adjust the fees every time as per the network load), sometimes the fees almost equal to nothing and sometimes it becomes too high that makes me postpone transaction unless it is very urgent. This happens every time I try to make a transaction and the fee fluctuates in between extremely low to extremely high amounts. However, I have noticed much improvement after the fork in terms of transaction confirmation time.

Some exchanges have not adopted to current fee. Spam attacks pop up from time to time, that's a certainty. What isn't certain, is when they will be popping up. You can't expect exchanges to change their fee structure back and forth just because the spam attack isn't operating at full power anymore. If exchanges reduce fees, and people experience slower confirmation due to miners prioritizing transactions based on their included fees, people will complain. If exchanges end up increasing the fees to offer people faster chances on confirmations, again, people will complain because they think the fees are too high. In this situation exchanges can't seem to do anything that pleases their customers, because whatever they do, people will keep complaining. Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! A fee of 30 Sat/Byte could have confirmed this particular transaction in 2 hours at the most (the size is around 670 B).

I just made a transaction today where I had 15 minutes to pay through a payment gateway and I paid 0.0266 and 0.0054 for the transactions fee and it was as 1 minute left and the 1st confirmation went through. Just in case you wanted to know how long it takes. Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! Post by: HabBear on August 13, 2017, 02:46:35 PM How to avoid it? Trade with Litecoin instead. Litecoin's fees are much lower. I realize it would cost you fees to trade existing Bitcoin into Litecoin, but this is a prime example of the benefits of keeping your wealth distributed among a few, well established, crypto currencies. I've made transactions recently for much more than $200 and the fee was a few dollars. Why do you think your particular transaction had such a high fee attached. Did you need something unique? In the end this $5 transaction is still cheaper than a wire transfer or exchange via Western Union or other money transfer service providers. Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! Post by: LeGaulois on August 13, 2017, 02:53:42 PM I had to pay the same fee. Switch to Bitcoin Cash. Bitcoin Cash is the real Bitcoin (Satoshi was a big blocker) and Bitcoin Core want all transactions happening offchain (Lightning Network) because Blockstream wants to become the new Visa/Mastercard. Because you were, like the OP, using an exchange. And you can't choose the fees you want to set to send the transaction. If you use a wallet where you can choose your own fees then there is no problem. To compare yesterday I send a transaction using Coinbase and the fees are about 0.0005. Guess what? The transaction has been confirmed within minutes. So don't blame Bitcoin for the fees that someone is choosing for you Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! Post by: Iranus on August 13, 2017, 02:56:27 PM It cost $9! If Paypal tried to take $9 for a $390 transaction without insuring it, they wouldn't be a business for very long! PayPal's fees in the US are 2.9% plus a static $0.25 fee.$390 x 0.029 + $0.25 = $11.56, which would be the fee PayPal charges you if you're paying for goods and services. So it's more than BTC. In the UK they're even higher - 3.4% + £0.2. 390 dollars is about 300 pounds, so it would be 10.4 pounds, or 13.45 dollars. BTC's fees are completely off the rails due to the bubble that we're in, but for significant transfers they're still lower than PayPal. Regardless, SegWit will be activated in 1450 blocks and after a while we'll start moving our coins to SegWit-enabled wallets. Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! When you don't have liberty to choose fees (which isn't in all the exchanges), Bitcoin network has no role to play. Thus, there is no mistake from Bitcoin iself. Fees are set arbitrary by exchanges. So there is hardly anyway to eliminate high fees if you decided to use that very exchange. If you care moving to other wallets and exchanges, you can significantly decrease fees. Use wallets like Electrum which give you liberty to choose fees and choose fees in accordance to this site- http://bitcoinfees.21.co Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! Post by: trecore4 on August 13, 2017, 05:09:13 PM You should check what priority you chosen while proceeding the transaction. If you had highest priority of transaction meaning your transaction should be processed within 10 minutes then you have to pay high fees for that. Also note that your transaction fees are x percentage of your transacted amount, so higher the amount of transaction higher are the fees also. So just check those parameter first and then recalculate it.

But I think that is something we have to live with at the moment. Maybe segwit will change that. I suppose a normal transaction will be cheaper then. The fees for withdrawl at exchanges, I would be surprised if they go down. But's that is something that concernes mainly the traders. Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! Post by: The_Dark_Knight on August 16, 2017, 02:29:16 AM You should check what priority you chosen while proceeding the transaction. If you had highest priority of transaction meaning your transaction should be processed within 10 minutes then you have to pay high fees for that. Also note that your transaction fees are x percentage of your transacted amount, so higher the amount of transaction higher are the fees also. So just check those parameter first and then recalculate it. Unless exchanges manage themselves in a different matter the amount you are sending should be irrelevant to the cost of the fee, the size of the transaction and the speed of confirmation is what determines how much of a fee is what you are going to pay.Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! Coins moved? Again irrelevant. Loaded for example could fake 160 million $ worth of transactions just by moving his coin from one wallet to another. Look at altcash. Confirmations are faster. And? 10 tx per block? Nobody is using it and for a good reason. There is nothing to do with the coin other than moving in and out of exchanges. That is something new to hear. The transaction fees are fluctuating at an abrupt pace. It is probably due to the increase in its demand. I also feel anxiety and chaos among BTC users. You got charged with 5 dollars for your withdrawal but what was the amount that you withdrew. I mean how can we know is the transaction fee really high? It's somewhat of a fixed fee. No matter how much you try to withdraw. Like the traditional withdraw fee we once had at... ironic isn't it? ... banks. You don't have to pay that high, unless you want the transaction be acknowledge in next block. If you can wait 5 or more blocks then you pay much less fee. It's a mandatory fee that is charged by the service. Nothing to do with the tx you normally pay. Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! So you don't have to wait for long time. $5 is expensive for transaction fee. Maybe you should just not send bitcoin too often. Having bitcoin these days is very expensive. Expensive price and expensive fees. Is there any way to make it cheaper and faster at the same time?

Miners prioritize which txs get included in the 1MB block based on the fee, so transactions with higher fees get included sooner. By reducing the amount of space each tx takes up, there can be more of them per block. So yes, the result of this should be a decrease in the tx fee. However, as bitcoin grows in popularity and there are more and more txs, 1MB per block will really start to slow things down and increase fees again. Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! Post by: Vishnu.Reang on August 22, 2017, 12:29:59 PM Transaction fees have increased but that does not mean you have to pay it. It is just the case when you want fast confirmations. If you can wait and give time, the dues won't be that high. The fees have risen due to large number of transactions being made from all over the world. If you want to be served first in millions, then you must be prepared to pay more. With the backlog now growing over 60,000 transactions, the chances are that low-fee transactions will never get confirmed. Even transactions which are paying up to 200 Sat/Byte as fee are getting confirmed after 3-4 hours. Low-fee transactions, where the fee is less than 50 Sat/Byte may never get confirmed and the coins will be returned to the sender after a few days. Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! I have the same advise with OP...if there is a chance you can use another good service aside from this Bitgrail then do so. Bitgrail must be charging more than what the miners are charging because it too want to have some profits in all transactions that it handled...sometimes we also have to understand that they are in business and as such have to make some handsome profits along the way. The highest fees I have seen based on average fees to some PH exchanges since bitcoin price breached $2,000 level is around 300,000 but not more than 500,000 satoshis. The fees increasing due to legitimate demand is perfectly understandable, but what is happening right now, is that on top of the increased demand for block space, Bitcoin's network is heavily being spammed right now.Every time the intensity of these spam attacks is reaching newer highs. At this point, even SegWit being fully operational can't change things when it comes to full blocks. As long as whatever idiotic and harmful entities can justify spending loads of money into spamming Bitcoin's network, we won't be moving forward unfortunately ~ it's mind boggling how far some people are willing to go. Poloniex is the crappiest exchange you can possibly find though.. -Bad Customer support -Full of horror stories -Money disappearing -etc Regards, Trump Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! Post by: The_Dark_Knight on September 07, 2017, 03:40:38 AM We can only hope that the upcoming LN or even Segwitx2 would eliminate high transaction fees to a certain extend! It's definitely possible to use a lower transaction fee for wallet that let you enter a custom amount but still a tough call on receiving it in the next 10 minutes. The lightning network is what we need the segwit2x does not bring any benefit, it seems the miners just want to fork the network to keep their power games going, the lightning network is going to make possible for bitcoin to accept a lot of transactions per second without the need to create bigger blocks.Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! You can use Wallets Instead like coinpayments which only charge 0.0002btc as transaction fees , There may be some other bitcoin wallet with lower fees . There are also some bitcoin trading platform which take Low charges . So You have many options . Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! Post by: Schuyler on September 07, 2017, 08:07:15 AM Rising prices of bitcoin should not be a reason for the ultra high fees being charged by exchanges. Confirmation times are still not that quick, unless you made a transaction during off peak hours. Opting for another wallet where you can choose the amount of fees would be the better way to go moving forward, while we wait for significant changes brought about by SegWit activation.

They need some time - sometimes shorter, sometimes longer - to get together more withdrawals and make one bigger transaction. The payment processor had a countdown and Polo didn't do the send in that fixed time. So my transfer was not registered. I had to talk with customer support at seller and at payment processor, spend 1-2 more days and, with some luck, it was solved. However, all the next transactions when I bought things over internet I made directly from wallet and they went on very good. And with today's fees like 40 satoshi/byte it's again better (and safer) to keep money in your wallet imho. Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! The reason why poloniex only charges a small amount per withdrawal is because they're doing batch transactions because that miner fee is for a fast individual transaction. maybe this small exchange doesn't have that much withdrawals so if they do batch transaction, the waiting time to sign them might take longer than expected as they will wait until a certain number of withdrawals is meet. on the othe hand, big exchanges like poloniex is used by a huge number of people so withdrawals are piling faster so theres really no problem. in my opinion they should still do batch transactions and just lower the number of withdrawals in a certain transaction Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! There are exchanges that really charges high fees but for me they are not to blame why they are act like that. In the past, they should transaction fees but because bitcoin network become congested all things have changed. As long as Im getting the right service and able to take advantage of the exchanges features, I don't mind paying $5-$10 and besides Im not doing a micro transaction to save fees. Post by: ReLieD on September 19, 2017, 05:02:02 PM Well I feel that the transaction fees is completely on you. It's up to you wheather you have to pay more fees for faster confirmation. You can also pay a very less fees like 0.11 USD approx for a transaction to confirm. But that will take a very long time to confirm. But you can take his help for boosting your transaction. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2114273.260
He actually helped many people who were facing the problem of late confirmation Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! Post by: BeerPanda on October 19, 2017, 08:04:18 PM Well you should try to understand , more fees = more quick your transaction get confirmations ,at the same time hurts so much because bitcoin price is up , a fee valued in 5 $ could be 10$ in months , try sending a ticket to the support . oh wow I didn't know that speed depends from price :D Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! Post by: pat4cryptoreal on October 20, 2017, 10:57:00 AM It is not only bitgrial that have high transaction charge even bittrex charge much as well when someone is transferring bitcoin. what I do after exchanging what ever I want to exchange I use the bitcoin and buy dogecoin and transfer it to another exchanger because transferring dogecoin do not attract much transaction charge.

Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! Post by: spadormie on October 20, 2017, 12:13:27 PM Well, there are many exchanges that asks for a higher fees in transacting your funds onto your wallet it is sad that they wanted so much fund on your part but it is part of their service. The exchange that I use most is hitbtc and the only fee is 0.0004 btc. That is the flat fee and I think it is so humane on that fee versus the fee from your exchange :D

Maybe next time you should choose the right exchange some are just juicing traders now.
Sometimes I don't withdraw in bitcoins sometimes I trade my digital assets to ethereum to take advantage of low fees. Title: Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! Bittrex withdrawal fee is 0.001. Cryptopia is about 0.0015 but they are all big exchangers. Most exchanger fee is about 0.001. i like to exchange directly using flyp.me. No registration needed. the fee is about 0.001. It is realtime exchanger, you can exchange eth, litecoin, and some tokens. That is an easy way to exchange quickly. exchange from trading site need some steps like phone or email confirmation. if you paid 0.0013BTC in fees then there is nothing you can do about it, you can complain to that exchange why they are taking that big a fee from you. or stop using it and use another exchange that takes a smaller fee for withdrawals. for example i heard that poloniex and bitstamp are taking 0.0001BTC fee! I am using bittrex for trading and after I gave them 0.001 Bitcoin they told me that it will cost me 0.001 bitcoin the withdrawal fee. So I am obliged to do some trading although this is not my preferrence. What I found is that if you exchange your bitcoin to other alt-coin and withdraw that altcoin it will cost you less. For example the dogecoins, their withdrawal fee is 1-10 dogecoins. they you can exchange the dogecoins to biotcoin at changely, for example (I do not know the withdrawal fee at changely).
