Title: What tokens can be sold for US citizens during ICO?
Post by: Lordmancer on August 13, 2017, 05:41:27 PM
Hi guys,

We have been working our own project. As many other teams we were quite afraid of a possibility of having any problems with US authorities. So we did not allowed US citizens to participate in our ICO. Our lawyer suggested the same. But probably he is too much cautious. Since the marketing campaign for Pre ICO has started, we have received a lot of requests by Americans who are interested in investing.

Our token Lord Coin doesn't produce a dividend. It is just an equivalent for some in-game virtual goods and services. Token usage is explained there: http://lordmancer2.io/#token (http://lordmancer2.io/#token)

So from your experience can such tokens be sold to US citizens during the ICO?

I asked the same question on Reddit and got some comments. As they may be interested for someone else, I will leave the link here: https://www.reddit.com/r/icocrypto/comments/6teeqn/what_should_an_ico_project_provide_to_be_allowed/

If you are want to take the risk and you can offer your token for the us citizen but i will do same like what already suggested by your lawyer about that. it seems not good to offer your coin to the us investors.
Try to think about the long-term effect for your project.

It does not worth to take such risks for legal projects, if you don't obey the us laws, it will not be good for your project indeed.

It depends how big project you have. some projects gather for 10 millions of Bitcoins that will be n few years worth few 100 millions. They can afford any kind of penalties and best lawyers to defend them and lower those penalties.

It's better not to take a risk, as it can bring many problems to you in the future

Look at the chart provided by the article at the link below. Then decide if you really want to deal with one of the most mean spirited legal systems on earth.
