Title: Setting multiple Wallets in a Wallet program
Post by: coinsgod on August 15, 2017, 12:45:08 AM
Is it possible to set up multiple wallet in a wallet program? Eg. If I want to have 5 Electrum wallets, 5 Exodus wallets & 5 Copay wallets all on a single desktop computer.

Yes. You can have as many Electrum and Copay wallets as you want and use them all at the same time.

With Exodus, you can only create one wallet per OS user. But I guess that you could create 5 different wallets and secure their seeds. Then, just import each seed when you need to manage those wallets.

Airbitz, an IOS and Android wallet allows for three wallets to be created within the app. This is another option for you.

don't confuse a wallet with a bitcoin address.
you can have 1 wallet and have an as many as bitcoin addresses you want inside that 1 wallet and do what you have in mind with them.
you don't necessarily have to create a new wallet. you just have to tag them with a name or description so that it is easier to separate them.

No, I do in fact mean separate wallets, not addresses. Say I want to have one wallet for me, one for mum & one for dad since they don't know what they're doing. Or if I would like to have 5 wallets for myself to spread out the risk.

I have tested Byteball's app and it supports having multiple wallets on same app. However, it can only be used for Byteball services/transactions.

I also have ledger nano s, it allows having a wallet per supported cryptocurrency. I'm not sure if you can have multiple wallets under same hardware for same currency (e.g. Ethereum)

If you are willing to have more than one wallet on your desktop computer, it's up to you. You can have two, five or ten, it doesn't matter at all.
