There are different kinds of wallets for Bitcoin. Bitcoin Core wallet size is too big. That's why we use wallets like electrum.

Are there any reliable wallets we can use for Ethereum?

Almost all of ethereum holders are using myetherwallet.com. You don't need any other wallet.

MEW can is the most used wallet especially for receiving tokens since you don't need to download it and install inside your computer
the only negative side is you don't have control when the site will crash and steal your coins.

My ether wallet is pretty good, open source and client-side, if you also hardware wallet like ledger nano s or trezor you can connect myetherwallet from them.

You use the Bitcoin lightweight version will also be equivalent to ETH, there is a time to confirm the transaction of ETH faster than the BTC. ETH includes a lot of coin running on the platform, BTC is not!

Meta mask is an easy wallet for you dude. and you can use import your metamask wallet to the etherdelta and another site such as MEW. because metamask is a light wallet and that will be so easy for your computer for use the metamask wallet.

My ether wallet I thought was nice.
I myself also use it, easier and better.
The making is not so difficult.

Downloading the whole blockchain on using Bitcoin wallet is really pain in the ass this is why i do make use of electrum which is really great without the need of downloading the BC.Speaking with etherium i guess its have been said already on the top how many times on which wallet would be good to use and it is really indeed on myetherwallet.com. This is the most common wallet been used to store up ETH and not only that it do store too all eth-based altcoins too.

You can experiment with the light mode on the official Ethereum Wallet. It's very practical but still experimental, only works properly with 0.8.1 release too. Here's an up to date post on how to easily set it up for a one-click launch in windows:

Myetherwallet is the wallet I've chosen as well, pretty convinient and easy to use.

I agree with you that the myeherwallet is really very comfortable and also a reliable wallet.

Jaxx is something sort of like electrum, but it's buggy and their have been articles about it being insecure.

Yes I use myetherwallet.com because that's the most reliable and secure wallet so far I have ever encountered with. Just make sure if you have registered into that wallet you save the details needed to be saved and make sure the website is correct because I have read there is a fake website and looks like the real myetherwallet.

Really like the other friends say, most people wear myetherwalletcom, I'm wearing it, so why would you dizzy to think of the others.

Myetherwallet is safe and secured wallet as long you have the private keys. Even my friends they are at ease to use this kind of wallet for a long time now.

How much data do I need to download to my computer when I use the original wallet at https://www.ethereum.org/ ? If the blockchain size is not very large I can use it.

Everyone recommends https://www.myetherwallet.com/. But how do you trust online wallets? For example I do not trust https://blockchain.info/. Instead I use electrum wallet.

Is there actually a stable, working, private wallet that the user OWNS that doesn't have to interface with some centralized web database for ethereum?

I remember trying to install the Mist or whatever the hell in March and I couldn't even download the blockchain because it was so buggy/slow, maybe they fixed it since then but I haven't heard anything good.

Please don't start saying to use these close-sourced 'multiwallets' (exodus) because no-one has a clue what is going on behind the scenes with these things. It's like trusting someone you don't know with your money.

What I don't like about myetherwallet is that you need to take care of the Keystore file yourself along with your private key. I like being able to log in with username/email and password and then my wallet opens. That doesn't work on that website and it's hard to use on multiple devices.

I suggest that you use myetherwallet. I think its a reliable wallet . It is also my first wallet that i created. Just go to myetherwallet.com and create your own wallet if you want. It is accessible by a private key which is given when you finished creating the wallet. There are so many wallets for ethereum but its up to you on what you prefer the most.

I personally recommend coinbase, exodus or jaxx, I consider these wallets to be user friendly. Most people are using myetherwallet but I consider that wallet to be even more complicated, I wouldn't recommend it to you.

myetherwallet is the best option for ethereum. you don't need to have an app for ethereum. myetherwallet don't store your private key so that makes safeist wallet.

But most ICOs project or manager bounty campaign in this forum always recommend we should use Myetherwallet for security and keep our private key. I know Jaxx wallet still give me permission keep private key, but some rumor about the risk use this wallet make me can't use it.

I use my ether wallet since it has another way of logging in. You can use a file as login username or hardware wallets and a traditional password field. It also has custom crypto money by just putting contact address, acronym, and decimals. Custom crypto money could help alternative coins to be send as the ICOs token rather than ethereum. But still ethereum is used cryptocurrency in funding an ICO. There are more other ethereum wallets, I just share my opinions about my ether wallet at myetherwallet.com

I used myetherwallet which can save your token from other wallet. I used to it to store my altcoin and bitcoin. It is one of the major usable web wallet which can provide private key. It can be used in other transaction like sending money to other wallet.

Looks like you want an eth wallet that has nothing to do with downloading the blockchain, well you in luck with ethereum all wallets i use do not require these downloads which might be Inconveniencing at most times, you can either use https://jaxx.io/ or https://www.myetherwallet.com/ which are reliable because you have easy access to your private keys and no need for unnecessary downloads.

There should be developed a sort of "Electrum" version for Ethereum.
I currently use myetherwallet.com, but it has some big downsides, that I don't like:

- It is a web wallet. Thus it has big risks.
- Tokens are usually not displayed correctly (yesterday they were not displayed at all!)
- If you switch their tabs, you are automatically disconnected and you have to log in every time again.

It is not wise to put large amount of coins on this web wallet. We need a better alternative.

I keep btc on blockchain.info and there's never been a problem with it. I believe it is a great website, easy to use and secure enough.
As for ethereum, once I was stupid enough to use ethereum-wallet.net and lose 60% of my eth there, because of the hack/scam. Myetherwallet is more secure, because there are private keys there and nobody knows them apart from you. That's why, just like most of people here, I'd recommend to use this one. I guess it can't possibly be hacked or robbed due to very strong security precautions.

As far as I understand from the comments made, there is no special and reliable wallet developed for Ethereum. You have expressed your discomfort in this regard.

The most logical solution for now is to download the original wallet from https://www.ethereum.org/

I use the " original " Ethereum wallet on osx, but not with a good feeling anymore. I can't send my coins, lost a smart contract and for one strange reason, password not accepted anymore (worked fine before),.... and no support to find. Does anybody have some tips?  to make me a happy eth user again?

As most of the people have pointed out, myehtereumwallet is a great wallet to access the eth blockchain and store your eth and other erc20 coins. I strongly suggest to use mew in conjunction with any hardware wallet such at ledger or trezor.
