Title: Should I sell?
Post by: ObscurePen on August 15, 2017, 09:00:55 PM
Hi, all. I have 20 Litecoin and some Ethereum … around 5.7 Ethereum. Bitcoin price seems to be rising, and fast. My question is should I sell my Ethereum and Litecoin now and buy Bitcoin? I checked the price of Bitcoin today. It went down quite a bit. Do you think there is going to be a healthy correction before the price rises again? I feel like I should wait for a couple more days and view the trend. The problem with that is Litecoin seems to be gradually falling. The same is happening with Ethereum. What do you all think?

Anwering this question is difficult only because of litecoin. I can never predict the right trade in litecoin. For the ether, you absolutely need to hold it. I never sell ether below 0.1 bitcoin. This is my rule for ether. And 0.06-0.07 BTC is a buy point for ether.

If i were you, i will still hold pending when the market value of the altcoin increases because as bitcoin market value increase most of the other altcoin are decreasing and so if you should sell is as if you may end up selling at lost. Although I don't know the value at which you bought those your coins.

Nowadays it is the time to buy bitcoin more and more to get the profit from it and the profit from bitcoin is a confirmed profit while from litecoin and ethereum it is now not sure that when will its start to increase so it is better for you to sell your altcoins and start to buy bitcoins.

it depends on yourself,if you have financial back up you don't need to sell it right now.
more likely you will lose it,just sell it whenever you're profitting from it.
for example you bought ETH at 0.06 sell it 0.061 or more than that,
just remember,as long as Bitcoin still exist altcoin will always survive.and someday every altcoin will get pumped.
because human greed, they will not sit and do nothing when they can multiple their Bitcoin,
using that shit absolutely, pump and dump strategist.so if you have a good financial back up,don't worry just hold it a bit longer than before.
and you will get what you deserve

Just hold your ETH its still low now, its a good coin and second on coinmarketcap, it will bounce back soon. Also, when a coin is rising its better to observed first, dont buy or you maybe late for the pump. Wait for the correction or when it stabilized and decide to buy. Well bitcoin is also good, especially if you target long term hold.

NO.

I also now HODL my coins, I am not selling any of my coin now.
It is you choice
but BTC is on the condition of about to rise but looking for more ground as a solid base to jump

in this case, you can sell litecoin and buy btc since btc will be growing up in next few days. but for ether just hold it. ether and btc has strong volume at market so hold it will make more profit for swing trade.

I'm also leaning towards this strategy, getting bitcoin today is the most viable choice because the price of bitcoin will likely increase in the future. Now is the best time to enter bitcoin, because the price is somewhat low because it has gone into a correction. I know you are going to lose some here, but I think with bitcoin, you can easily recovered your losses. As for Ethereum, much better to just hold on it, although its price fluctuation is too hard for me to predict the movement. I think both bitcoin and ETH should be hold for longer term as compare to other altcoins that you can trade daily.

I suggest you sell all coins and buy bitcoin, because eth and litecoin price are not good. If we see eth and litecoin price action history with long time period is too difficult to rise again, need more time and news speculation. That's why bitcoin become the best alternative to make profit. Your money your call and have a nice day.

But buying btc now were too expensive, we should watch more of it ,if it goes a little bit lower then we can consider it. I might as well considered converting my fiat into btc. But the decision will always be in you if you're already decided then go ahead.

If you wish to sell LTC then you can sell off and convert that into either BTC or ETH. Both are good coins and their future market values is going to rise. Only thing currently ETH is available at very reasonable rates so buying this will help you as this rate will rise manifold in coming time as compared to btc. Else you know some good coins at PRE ICO stage then you can invest in that as well.

If you are still in lose on the altcoin value and it will better for you to keep your amount until you leave from there without any lose. But if you are feeling the price of bitcoin will increase again and you can sell them now and buy bitcoin as much as you can.

Litecoin is a very strange coin. Any time it seems to crash, it magically rise again, even to quite high price. Its technology is nothing special, but it has some relevant advantages: it was the first real alternative to Bitcoin, a large user base and a serious main developer. So I suggest you to hold.

Ethereum (assuming you own ETH and not ETC) is a different thing. I think it is better not to sell, but to invest your ETH in good ICOs, in order to get higher returns.

Yesterday while I was scrolling trough the news in Facebook I noticed one post, apparently one guy who is one of the best traders said that price of bitcoin can reach 15000 dollars this year!!! Many bitcoin experts appear from nowhere and with very brave statements, if anyone trys a bit this news is easy to found and can be checked. Honestly I don't know what to think about this prediction, I can't say it's possible I can't say its impossible, with bitcoin anything can happen.
If you believe this guy you should sell ETH and ltc snbuy bitcoins, if not keep your alts and maybe you will have more luck and profit, choice is on you for your money. Each one of us needs to decide what is the best thing to do right now, I will keep my bitcoin and I will try to make more.

This is not the best time to sell dump coins like LTC and ETH, Just wait until Altcoin price back to normal then start sell it to bitcoin if you want it, Because if you just wait, At the end, Price of bitcoin is still the same if you sell now or wait for your coin to pump. You will just loss the amount you used on buying ETH or LTC. Patience is a virtue in altcoin trading. You will just regret once you sell now then price of you alts bounce back again.

I would keep them both - LTC and ETH.

Currently both are in 10days low and BTC is all time high.
I'm not so strong believer in LTC, but ETH will rise for sure. At least to 330-360 in next month.
Just wait until altcoins regain value to BTC.

Bitcoin is actually going up now and  I think if you have risk capital you should wait until the price go up.  Ehtheruem and litecoin on the others hand is not doing to bad and you should not just convert your ethereum to bitcoin if you have long term investment view. I am not a fan of ethereum but I think it's will give you good return more than bitcoin. Bitcoin will find it difficult to go as high as $8000 that is double in price but ethereum will easily double in price.

I'm not bullish on either of these alts, but with a little luck and patience both will probably recover. With LTC I wouldn't hold my breath for astronomic gains, ETH is another story, however I also think it's overvalued right now (ICOs even moreso).

Keep in mind that while most alts made a great comeback from a fiat perspective, most of them still got outperformed by BTC in the long run. But I see that you are already in the right state of mind by thinking in selling for BTC and not fiat.

If you want to play it safe just hold some and keep some.

If i were you i would probably sell all Litecoins asap and buy bitcoins for this amount. With Etherium it is different, it's price falls at the moment but i am sure that it will rise again later. Etherium have huge potential to become something great so it would be silly to sell it now.

Bitcoin price is high again at the moment so maybe you should wait for better price to buy them.

You're on right track by actually sticking to coins that make the top ten, most capitalized coins, as that's where to get some clues about the liquidity of a coin. So Hodling your coins isn't a bad idea on its own. However to think a little a bit outside the box, Litecoin is done activating segwit and even though Bitcoin is fast towing same line of action, the shadow of a split still looms in the background as no consensus yet on the blocksize debate. Suffice to say that offloading all for Bitcoin that's presently making new ATH, sure isn't the most appropriate time for buying and Hodling Bitcoin.

Since price is unpredictable plus the fact those coins involved in your portfolio can be seen a good price increase in the future, I suggest to hold it instead. Now to take advantage of bitcoin price rise, do you have any spare funds? You can used that to buy bitcoin or earned it without buying.

As long as bitcoin price is rising, don't worry about the price fall of ETH and LTC as you will still have a good returns on BTC in terms of USD value once you exchanged it. ETh and LTC have a solid barrier and it's kind of having low chance to really reached the low price that we aren't expecting.

But still you will have the final decision. Up to you what should have be done.

Much better to sell those altcoin and stay trading in bitcoin for me its enough to make a good profit if you know how to buy low and sell high staying in bitcoin can gives you high amount of profit compare staying in altcoin.. This is just base in my experience altcoin is not the same as before that there are people are really making lots of profit because of the fast price increase like in ethereum but today and yearly bitcoin is always giving you a chance to make profit the price is really changing every year and ever month..
So if you really want to get the benefits of the movement price of bitcoin better to sell them and buy bitcoin instead ..

This was a hard question i have struggled to deal with myself.

But after some thinking, I sold my LTC and kept my ETH. I did so because LTC was mostly known for activating segwit and now that BTC has segwit, what advantage do they have? Not much. When people realize this i feel like its scary times ahead for LTC.

I also made the bad decision to buy some lite and eth a few weeks ago, but fortunately the amount I bought was very insignificant and therefore I do not feel any psychological pressure to sell now.

In your case, I think you do have an important amount of money stuck in those coins and maybe it would be worth selling a fraction of them to buy bitcoin, although it would not be a bad idea to keep some of those coins as a portfolio investment.

It is not advisable to sell any altcoins while the price of bitcoin is busy going up. And recently, it all red days for all altcoins. Unless you bought your eth and ltc at a very low price and you are still in profit even though the price is down, you won't sell your coins. Hold it til the price of bitcoin  settles and alts are on green again.

Now btc price is high and alt coin price is some down. i think after a time btc price is down. so i tell now you don't buy btc. ltc  and eth is good coin it's price regularly increase any time you exchange eth to btc. when this coin price is high you can exchange with btc.

Indeed, altcoin price movements are declining, but I think first consider before making a sale to Ethereal and Litecoin that you have because we all know about the price fluctuation coins in the crypto market that are always fluctuating and sometimes difficult to predict well.and I suggest you to be patient Wait until the two altcoin prices start to increase

This is probably the reply you're not looking for, but no one exactly knows what will happen to the prices of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.  :-\

My suggestion would be to create your own plan, and stick with it. Is there a reason why you're invested on litecoin and ethereum but none on bitcoin? Is it because you believe in litecoin and ethereum but not in bitcoin? If so, then leave it be! Prices don't go up overnight. If you also believe in bitcoin, then maybe diversify your investments into maybe 33% each cryptocurrency?

If you're planning on selling just because you have a fear of missing out in bitcoin, you will most likely lose more money this way. Create a plan, and stick with it.

And I really think that bitcoin gives us more return as I bought some bitcoin for almost 2500$ and now its value is almost 4300$. And I think myself lucky that I got those bitcoin now I can have my profit very easily.

I will definitely sell and put everything on bitcoin now, this is the best thing that you can do so far. Don't wait before the price of bitcoin gets higher and as it went down a bit you have to take advantage while it is on this stage. When you will sell those coins when it is too late for you already? Don't wait for that time to come.

If you have litecoin and ethereum coin in your wallet its better if you dont sell it . Because this two coin for sure will increase in the future. Litecoin possible become 100 dollars before end of this yeat for me and 1000 dollars for ethereum. If you have extra money in your wallet its better if you buy bitcoin instead of converting your ethereum and litecoin to bitcoin.

If you do have the money to invest on bitcoin or buying them then its much wiser to do such thing than on selling your ETH and LTC its better to hold those coins for long term and dont tend to sell out those coins but well its your own decision though if your hear and mind telling you to sell those coins then do it since you do have the power to sell and no everyone else.

To sell or not to sell will depend on the price you bought your bitcoins if you have bought at too low in the past then there is nothing wrong in selling some part of it in order to make profits and if you are looking for much higher profits then better to hold it for long term.

Maybe if it doesn't have an important need it would be better to hold it for the next few years, because I also have the belief that bitcoin will still continue to rise in price, even at the end of this year the possibility of bitcoin prices could reach $ 5000.

Looking at the growth in the price of bitcoins I don't think that to see the price of $5000 we have to wait till the end of the year and we will be seeing that price much before that and who knows may be bitcoin will touch that price by next month and at the end of the year some big surprise would be waiting for us.

What do you all think?

yes sell it as soon as before it too late  ;)
Yeah, it is the right time to sell off our bitcoins to enjoy the fruit of your hard working, patience and luck. No need to cash out or sell off all the bitcoins, but do cash out half of your savings to enjoy an epic ride to the moon. We all know that crypto currencies are volatile, so better enjoy the profit before it is too late.

I would hold it because who knows if BTC will rise up to 10K this year.

Whenever dips happen, that's the good chance to buy bitcoin, especially if bitcoin on Bull run such as in this month.
The lowest price of bitcoin on August 15th maybe around $3900 and so far the highest peak was $4500 on August 17th, which mean you could gained $600 profit per BTC1. Well, I hope you did bought bitcoin at that time and have sold at the peak.

And look at current eth surges, rise up 13,62% in the last 24 hours. I guess, it is a good time to sell eth and litecoin and invest in bitcoin again due to segwit will be activated today or tomorrow as 305 blocks left to be mined before segwit implemented. https://coin.dance/blocks
When litecoin segwit activated few months ago, its price increase from $4 to $40 within 2 moths, imagine what will happen with bitcoin price after segwit be activated.

Patience is key, you cannot take decisions to sell whenever the price stagnates or moves against you. However, If you are looking to sell and but, you cannot go wrong with a bitcoin and bitcoin cash combo.

You know, no one can answer you this question because no one knows answer to it.
I am going to say - hold and wait for higher price then sell.
Actually best thing to do is - don't ask on forum people what to do with your money, and do what do you think it is best thing to do.

Waiting will be better, especially if you do not use your money for now. Well, different if you really need money, you may have to sell it now because the price is high enough, but if not, you better hold it.

Ethereum an Litecoin are now breaking off, your bags are going to become a lot more valuable, we'll need to wait until September to see how high they'll go, don't sell now.

In my opinion, since this two coin is the second best after bitcoin so better if not to sell it because someday the value will rise too like what we have in bitcoin, also try to invest in bitcoin since it is working so high now, what more in the future. But it is all up to you, where you can be more settle.
There is no doubt these two particular coins are also showing enough potential of earning investors big profits, so I will also suggest keeping them in wallets, at least few of these coins should be there in wallets for future use. Bitcoins are all time best investments and it is never wrong to invest into bitcoins.

There should not be any confusion while investing into bitcoin. It is always rising man, come on just look at the charts really. :-)

Ethereum and BTC is very good pair where ether stands at 0.07 BTC you can easily trade and buy bitcoin at lowest possible value.

However, lets wait for little more as there are chances of bitcoin going down in next week or so as the rumours are spreading about investors who are dumping bitcoin to buy it cheap again. Though rumour we should be careful in investing to avoid any further Panick situation and related consequences.

That is true, bitcoins are really good investments and right now there is nowhere to go but up from here. Bitcoins have had that issue with forks before august and now it is finally resolved then this is totally the best time to invest into it some more. The prices will really go up some more if we see more adoption to it and that looks like it would exponentially increase in the next few years.

Ethereums are good investment. Look at China they even try to come up with their own version of Ethereum which is Neo. Price of Ethereum right now may not be the same a few months ago but remember that one reason that makes Ethereum a good investment is because it is being used by ICOs and there are some gambling sites that accepts ETH. Hodl!

I agree with you . ICO projects always use ETH which will make investors buy more ETH that makes ETH market will have high price in the future. I think if ETH improves on more new technologies then surely this altcoin will lead the Crytptocurrency market.

In my opinion so far dev has worked so well that it is able to bring Ethereum into more advanced phase, and Etereum has high value that is in great demand by investors and traders, even Ethereum user population all the time continues to increase significantly, That Ethereum deserves to compete with other large coins that exist in the crypto market

Actually, with the exception of btc, ether is the most trusted alt out there. There are even indications that wih how good the etherium team is and how good its features are, it will be bitcoins main rival in the future.

I believe that you should not waste your bitcoins in order to gain some little profits. Hold them as much as you can so that you could have lush future and a luxurious house in posh area. As far as selling at present is concerned when bitcoins are hugely increasing in value, it would be idiocy to give up on bitcoins at this stage.

Bitcoins are your future investment. In comparison with ether bitcoin will yield more as current trending you can see the charts. Trade your ether as it said to be 0.07 BTC and buy a bitcoin and believe me you will be getting more and more from bitcoin s in coming month and so. It will be a good decision if you buy bitcoins now.

Number one rule in cryptocurrencies, never sell. Hodl!!!

Well that is what everybody says, I think there is some truth to it though. Most cryptocurrencies have bumped up their prices since their inception. I guess it will just depend on where would you invest your money and see if that one goes up so much. Buying them cheap at start and reaping the benefits after a few years.

Litecoin and ethereum can survive so far and keep persist at current price for a while, it seems most coins increases right now https://coinmarketcap.com/. One thing that I always notice is altcoins price will dump after reach its ATH and hardly to make the new all time high, such as litecoin was $50 and eth was $415. But, diversify your investment is a good thing, especially into famous altcoins which could be pumped again.

I guess it's never too late to buy a bitcoin. BTC may seem a bit high at the moment but in my opinion it will go even higher. So whenever u have chance get more and more BTC, eventually you will make profit from it. Just watch the movements close and wait for the right time to buy and sell.

If you want a fast profit, I guess you better sell it and buy bitcoin as bitcoin is growing so high every now and then. But I guess that coins are good too like what bitcoin experience, for sure someday it will boom up. Currently the bitcoin price is increasing rapidly and due to this all the other  altcoins are at a downfall. This is also good time to but these altcoin at cheap, as surely all of them will rise in the near future. (but this may take 1 to 2 month).

As it will always fluctuates, you can really tell if the coin we're holding is a good or bad. Personally, if I'm in that situation, I sell my ltc and still hold my eth. Eth maybe having some dips now but soon the rally will over. My hopes to eth is too high so I'm betting on this.

Ahan! LTC is also not bad option to bet on. Eth has an edge over other altcoins. It has good support of investors and even some people have started comparing it even with bitcoins. I won’t give up on LTC for eth. I would rather to like to keep both coins in small amounts into my wallet.

Nothing needs to sold if our condition isn't an emergency. Keeping longer, provide very promising advantage later. Especially current LTC price is less attractive to sell. we all know LTC and ETH are superior altcoin.

It depends on yourself. If you need the money you should sell it. But if you can keep the coins you should do that. I think the price can increase some more and you can get more profits.

Other way is if you sell only the capital and keep some coins to do some profit.
