Title: whats up with LTC?
Post by: Markus11 on August 16, 2017, 10:38:34 AM
Why didnt LTC follow the btc rally up?
What do you think will it take LTC to rise?

I don't have any formal education as a trader but I agree, it's been stuck for a while now. Could be a rally is imminent? It would be interesting to hear from people more experienced in this.

Litecoin seems to be the forgotten son, does it's own thing as and when it wants to.  Give it time and I am sure we will see it catching up although I did expect a lot more from litecoin after it got lightening.

Seems like Litecoin turned into the stable coin for those that do not like market spikes.

It's always like this, litecoin never immediately follows bitcoin, it takes some time to take off.

Usually litecoin price is very stable, even when there's volatility in bitcoin's price, now it's bleeding a bit but I wouldn'y worry much, altcoin season will come again soon.

LTC seems to be rock solid.
TBH some coin like LTC is required in crypto world which is very volatile market.
UP and down are part of everything.

Now that bitcoin will have segwit implemented soon Litecoin will lose one of its main defining features v Bitcoin which will probably lead to a price drop short term.

I'm not sure what the point of litecoin is. BTC has segwit and BCH has big blocks, and if you want super low fees and quick confirmations, there is always Doge.

I think the only reason litecoin has survived is that the Chinese exchanges feature it as one of the few alts on their exchanges.

LTC went up when BTC was having trouble.  So when BTC solved it's problems LTC was thrown to the sidelines again.

I think now people want only bitcoin. This is why bitcoin price has risen very much. Soon bitcoin price will become stable and lots of people will invest in altcoins. That time Litecoin will be one of most attractive coins for investors and it will cause the price to increase.

Bitcoin mother of coins, all coin will follow it but of course, also depend on their supply and demand. Coins have the same pattern, up and down depending on their trend and also trader/ investor transactions. Actually, we never know when and how exactly coin will up or down. As an investor or trader, we only predict and prepare to deal with the risk. For me, ltc has low supply, demand, and also news speculation. That's why ltc not good as an investment/ trading ( my opinion ). Hope you'll find another answer and have a nice day.

The founder of LTC made a post on Reddit a little over a week ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/6s9fct/my_response_to_all_the_criticism/

It dont explain a whole lot, but you know why it wont pump. No PR or any other ways to increase the value is being done.

That’s right, normally when bitcoin get high, altcoin will crash. Because people sell altcoin to buy bitcoin. This also has happened to LTC.  I think we have to wait sometimes to see LTC again increase prices.

A lot of people advised me to purchase Litecoin before the August 1 apocalypse. But I am glad that I ignored their advice. Still don't know why people are not showing any interest in Litecoin. It is one of the oldest and most well established altcoins around.

Looking at the daily chart if the 0,01 BTC/LTC bottom holds then the way is up and upper, but if it doesn't I don't see any significant support until 0,004ish. Personally yesterday I bought some.

Yes this is the oldest coin, but investors are not showing interest on this coin why I don't know. Maybe they are concentrating on the only BTC because it is giving them a good profit on a daily basis. And LTC miners also increased, so we don't have coins shortage in the market that is why the price is not increasing.

what you see is a very stable LTC price but that price is in USD! go take a look at the LTC-USD charts and come back, you will see what i mean.

for some reason some altcoins follow the USD value instead of BTC value more. possible because they are being traded more in fiat just like how bitcoin is traded with fiat. like a stand alone crypto currency.

this means LTC has actually been pretty strong. and since bitcoin rally seemingly has stopped, or at least slowed down significantly, you can expect a good rise from Litecoin very soon.

Patience, even in bitcoinland we need to be patience, altcoins will rise again, enjoy current low prices to fill your bags, next altcoin wave is coming.

it seems the litecoin are dump by this moment and by now its price is really cheap... {BTW i dont go formal schooling about trading] also it never come up with the increase in price of btc which litecoin is one of the oldest alt. but as i see these pioneer coins have its backstory and big whales on it... if you hold some LTC just give it a time... I assure that this will pump again...

Since the price is pretty stable and the transaction fee to send is so low, it's the best coin to buy from coinbase and move it to an exchange to trade with.

I don't know, maybe ltc do not have that much holders thats why their value was stuck in the same price. But they are the third most successful coins in this industry. I think they cannot surpass the bitcoin community they are so huge but I know that they can rise up their value if we will just continue ro buy or to hold some of our LTC. The more buyers of LTC the higher the price it  will be.

There are a few Litecoin threads surfacing here now
people are wondering quite rightly what is going on with it

Here is what I can add to the conversation and what I've
posted in another thread.

Everyone knows that Litecoin is seriously undervalued
Currently its quite stable which is good as an acceptable currency
not good from a speculators point of view but if you want mass
acceptance commercially you need a degree of stability.

While it may not be rising quite as fast as people would like its
not falling in price either !!! that is also important.

I also look forward to more acceptance of it in the future.

Bitcoin lately has pushed over $4000 dollars and there is
another considerable player in the market Bitcoin-Cash
this coupled with the alt. ICO's constantly coming on stream
it increasingly hard to compete

BUT

the main thing Litecoin hasnt fallen massively in value!!!

Another way of looking at LTC being stable might just be the case that it's still not as widely used or rather tested as BTC. Imagine the same traffic and numbers of congestion, can LTC still hold up?

Anyway, it doesn't seems like LTC is the only one not following BTC rally this couple of weeks. Monero, Zcash and ETC (or even ETH in my opinion) all seems to be the case. This is exactly why BTC will influence the market to a certain extend but definitely not entirely the reason for another coin's up and down.

If last time BTC failed then eth and litecoin will rise, but because Bitcoin is doing fine then litecoin is abandon again, LTC has been around for so long but there are never great event happening to it, so there are no big rising for LTC, I think LTC will stuck like this for long term, not many people want to invest in ltc

a couple of months ago its prospects were looking very bright. now it's kind of swamped by all the developments from the various bitcoins now and future.

I followed those advises in a hope to secure some funds and even earn a couple of bucks.
It was quite a mistake and now I don't know what to do. I kept holding with the hope it will recover and I am close to the point I have to sell no matter what  :'(

No, I don't think so . A simple clone of BTC, nothing new, plan nothing to develop,  it even couldn't compare with the latest good icos.

Well when I look at LTC I don't see much hope there. I mean why would someone want to invest there really ? It was supposed to be faster than BTC but that's useless when no one really accept LTC payments (stores, users ...)

It is just a part of its development i think because just like other crypto-currency litecoin can make and establish a development and growth in terms of its price , value, transaction in the market. As long as people will continue to chose bitcoin as a part of trading in trading site which can make a movement on its stock on the market and can give a good thing for its development and progress on the market on the future.

Seeing from the bitcoin development I think it's very difficult for LTC, lots of new coin coins and ico project projects that are more potential in the future.

After the segwit pop, what will drive LTC now? I always thought it was a good coin (and still is) but it has a lot more competition today. Not sure how it will distinguish itself from the pack.

Judging from the development and trading of the growth market ltc very slow, and can be said not have a bright future. It signifies the concept they provide can not invite investors to invest.

Title: Re: whats up with LTC?

maybe it is because of bitcoin. Bitcoin has activated the segwit and therefore, they ignore litecoin. People do not seem to care about this coin anymore. They only use litecoin as a lever to push bitcoin forward
