I don't think it will die, but it's not going to get the amount of attention it has been getting.

if BTC will solve its Problems?
Like what the post above said, LTC will not die even if bitcoin solved is problem. Even if it has only segwit going with it right now and fast confirmation of transactions and cheaper fees compared to bitcoin it will still be a good coin to hedge into when bitcoin price movements are going crazy. Also, it would be just like silver and it would just get lesser attention than what it experience now but it will definitely have some value in it after all, it is meant to be the silver of cryptocurrency.

I can say no, ltc will never die, in the world gold and silver exist and used together for thousands of years. It is sometimes loadstar for bitcoin as in the case of segwit.

I don't think LTC will die but it might be forgotten or if not it will be undervalued in the next few years because of bitcoin and some other coins and tokens recently that has more potential in the future. Not unless if they would collaborate on a certain coin for their coin to be upraised again.

Its the mother of All Altcoins. If LTC dies all altcoins die too.

Probably it can cost 500$ ,but you need to wait 3 or  4 years. Like it was cost 4$ from 2014 till year 2017.it is very stable coin.

if BTC will solve its Problems?

bitcoin never had any serious problems to now solve them!
and litecoin has been a very strong coin from the start which is also nearly as old as bitcoin now. you won't find any altcoin that can survive a year let along this long like litecoin did and still be worth $40+

soon you will see how litecoin will start a big rally and overtake the position that it deserves.

Bitcoin will never solve its problems in full. The community is already divided and about to be divided even more.

That being said both BTC and BCC are a much better pick than LTC.

LTC has never done anything but marketing. It doesn't need SegWit, it's far from filling its blocks, it offers nothing innovative and by the looks of it it never will.

Charlie Lee will not let his creation die, but LTC will simply never find an use case imho.

And even if it does, I can't see a copycat coin become the shining star of anything. So if you're in this for profit, you should look elsewhere. Even if LTC goes up, it's going to be as a result of the whole market going up, and LTC will not be amongst the biggest winners.

LTC will not die, at least not any time soon. But it may no longer be the "silver" it used to be. There are just too many altercoins around and many of them are pretty good.

I hope it 'dies' a little bit before 2019. but who knows, maybe it will gain it's true value even before that.

Title: Re: Will LTC die ...

It will never die... if you study the altcoins that have had a decent amount of marketcap for a long time, they never die. They fade into irrelevancy, but for me total death means no hashrate, which would lead to a collapse of the network, and therefore collapse of the price (actually would be the opposite, first comes the collapse in price, then collapse in hashrate, then that's a downstairs spiral into actual death.

As a long as a coin has some hashrate, some market activity, and some development, that's a coin that's alive, and LTC will remain alive.

There are tons of coins with less opportunity and usefulness than LTC so I don't see it going away anytime soon.  It may not be the best place to invest fiat but I don't think it'll die anytime soon.

There are many projects that have done a small fraction of what LTC has and is still alive today.  LTC will always be around as long as there's still cryptocurrency.

I'm selling mine today. 100% of it.

Look at long term trend. BTC to the moon now, more and more as crypto becomes popular. Where will LTC go?
Charlie Lee or no Charlie Lee, don't see a place for it unless BTC fails

It is a stable currency, I'll give everyone that. But once it gets out that its headed no where, it's going to sky dive. I'd rather get out now.

Agreed. Same reason I sold all of mine.

I've been fine with the stability, it is reassuring to have a coin that is always staying put. But the lack of direction and the developers being pleased with LTC being BTCs little brother I think will hurt the coin in the long run.

If BTC keep rising like its been for the past weeks and if BCH get their act together then I think there wont be much room left for LTC.

Its been a solid coin and its been in the scene since the early days, but you need direction and goals to keep the coin rising otherwise other coins will easily run past it and drop it off the Top 10 of cryptos, then I think it will be forgotten.

if its silver, why isnt the price like that?
The price is like that because of supply and demand. Without others constantly needing it, ltc will be stable in low prices since there is no buy power to pump it up. It is really meant to be the silver of crypto when it was created but looking at it now, the price is low. Even if that is the case, don't judge the coin by it's price. Ltc got almost the same tech as bitcoin ATM.

You must either be bagholding a lot of Bitcoin Cash or getting paid by the big block usual suspects to post all day about how awesome Bitcoin Crash is.

The market has already spoken, BCash is irrelevant. People that invested = has lost money. People that mined it = has lost money. The result is clear, BCash has been a fail. Segwit2x will be a fail. Money doesn't want rushed hardforks. Go into hardforks anytime soon and lose your money.

LTC is not dieing anytime soon. It's currently the same as BitCoin, but my tansaction on LTC passed in less than 2 minutes and transactions on BTC pass in more than one hour. Why do you think it's dieing? It will grow a bit too.

LTC might not die anytime soon but I am not sure how LTC is going to differentiate itself in the upcoming years as BTC obtained the same technology as LTC such as Segwit while Monero is claiming to be the most untraceable currency coin and Zcash claiming to be the most secure currency coin.

Litecoin is really too established to die now. LTC is on coinbase and bitstamp and all the major chinese exchanges. Litecoin is secure and have never had more full time developers. Bitcoin succeeding will be good for liteoin long term.

I don't think it will die, but it's not going to get the amount of attention it has been getting.
That's right. In the beginning of the year litecoin has been counted as perspective one for investment. but after Etherum's pump all attention was mover on Etherum. And now there come a big wave of ICO's with their new coins and tokens and projects, which are cost cheap and promise a lot. So litecoin's attention has been shared among all that.
I bought couple of coins on the peak of Litcoin popularity and don't know what to do with it now. The price is just got frozen and I didn't get any optimistic news about LTC for months already. I think it is just got lost among all this new projects.

Litecoin is one of the oldest (Or the oldest) Altcoin around, it's not going to die even if BTC solves all its issues with high transaction fees and slow confirmation times. There are plenty of other altcoins out there, if Litecoin was to die because "Bitcoin is facing some issues" then all would die, doesn't make much sense.

The silver analogy doesn't work for me. You can split BTC up to the point where it is equivalent to cents, why would you need another coin?

If BTC gets to the point where the smallest decimal is $10 or something crazy, then yeah another coin might be necessary, but then again, they could just add more decimal places

No, not every year. It's price was very low and stable (if I amn't wrong). These months litecoin's price rised really much, nearly 10x so this means ltc isn't dead. This coin is like a man who is dying and needs supplement to be alive. Ltc is 6th on coinmarket and seems it will be in top list still in near future. This is really most known altcoin.

If it doesn't I'll easily be able to sell again with no loss.

If you look at the crypto currency market you could find a ton of shell coins which are of no use and if you look at litecoin ,it is one of the earlier coins which has a good following and the volume is really good and that does not mean that litecoin will die anytime soon and with the recent upgrade we had the momentum we are waiting for a long time.

No even bitcoins solve its problem, die or life digital coins depend on the comunity of the altcoins
include litecoin, many people said like this litecoin will be die and something like this,
the fact litecoin is still alive until today, litecoin's price was increased and the updating on litecoin's network
with the segwit on there, it will makes litecoin more be strong.

Don't think like that, it's not true. Even ltc has low price and volume, we can't say this coin will die. LTC still has their future and will rise again but need news speculation to raise their demand. Besides that, many people still replace their money to invest/ trade with ltc ( trust ). Don't worry about ltc, but if your opinion says that, please leave ltc before too late. Good luck.

Though litecoin haven't had a raise in its value lately, sitting calmly and stable for a while, i don't think it will die. This is because despite the absence of any increase in its value, the coin's development is still ongoing and it still has a couple of investors in it. And so long as a lot of people are using its technology, it will survive.

I see it does not die. It just slows down its improvement so it drops the price and the rest is bought with their LTC bitcoins. It is one of the longest Altcoins of the Crypto Industry. So it's hard to dismantle. In fact many of these are changed to LTC such as lifting nearly 0.02 BTC.
Remember that the crypt is up and down so go ahead and if you want to be a millionaire you'll be able to pay patience

Well LTC was completely stable and transacted when we were in the hard fork situation. Thats was amazing thing to know about the LTC but nobody really understood how LTC price did not move down or up at that time. May be LTC is altcoin which not being invested that much as it had shown the potential earlier. It won’t die but it won’t evolve either. Stable coin though.

Why does the improvement of Bitcoin affect directly the life of LTC? LTC has its own followers and investors and a great team behind it that will make sure it will survive further and improved. You don't have to necessarily choose between the two. I am a fan of BTC as well as LTC.

We didn't saw any movements even fork is approaching its been a long while with the current value and for me like what others said its depend on how the community will interfere about this project the more people get engaged the chances for this project to proceed much stronger but lesser support that's getting also chances to break down, but dying its still early to assess.

I think there is enough space for competition in the cryptoworld, even though blockchain and crytocurrencies have been on for close to a decade now, it's (crypto) still generally in it's infancy, LTC is amongst the few that have had a good head start as long as the coin keeps adpating, it already has a strong community and I expect that it will continue to drive towards adoption. I also dont expect LTC to die at least not anytime in the next few years.

LTC will survive and will not die.
LTC has a good value that is included in the 10 best coins.
When LTC is still used no harm LTC will always be there.

Die ...Does silver ever die? Litecoin is the only true nr 2  ...no number ONE  coin. Alhough  LTC/BTC  ratio is still now where from what it used to be. IF you look at that ration LTC (0.04) should be around  160$. When it comes to 100% stability and authenticity  (NO HARD forks!!!! and clones ) it already has beaten BTC (drama queen)  and ethereum (hacked).
Crytpo market seems to focus a lot on the RIGHT NOW and FEATURE XYZ. While in reality is far more about the growing world wide integration and support.   LTC is gaining a lot more exposure.  Right now it looks like LTC is still the shy butterfly, that has so much more potential than BTC or Ethereum . I only hope it GETS and TAKES that  attention it deserves.

It's sometimes very strange how these random posts about doom and despair arrive just after such types of announcements. Litecoin has had a long shelf life and it is far from becoming expired. It has done a lot, it recently got Charlie Lee full time and it keeps making slow but solid progress from development side. And if there are people who think LTC is successful because no one uses it, remember it also had consensus problems. But they got through it and they will get through the others.

No. I think Litecoin is still one of the best altcoins at the moment. Investors are still liking litecoin, so there's no reason for Litecoin to die.

Until whenever ltc will still exist as altcoin which has value stability for long time. Even with prices like now, we have a chance to achieve good results. Although, ltc popularity is unbeatable by eth, but ltc still very good to be an investment.

Lite coin is still better than most of the other Altcoins I think since it's been around for longer, may take its place as number 2 coin again eventually.

I don't think so. It's one of the best altcoin out there. Although it didn't get much talk about it in compared to other altcoin later made and was overtaken by them. I can still say it won't die and hopefully soon, it will regain the no.2 spot in crypto again.
