1k isn't much to be honest. Though I would say that it is still good to invest into bitcoins. I would say before the end of the year we could
even reach $10,000 each at this rate. Also, after all the drama about the forks the past couple of months this is really a good time to invest
as it has already been cleared and bitcoins is gaining a lot of popularity.

It actually depends on how long are you planning to invest. Today, we had value as low as $3985 and the highest is about $4400. I think it's better to wait for not higher than 4100 before you invest.

If you are planning for a long term investment like minimum of 6months to 1 year, then you can invest your thousand by all means. But I'd rather you study the trend first.

for short term the risks are currently higher since bitcoin price has been rising with little stop so far it may need a longer correction than what we just saw in previous days.

but for long term investment, there is so little to worry about as bitcoin price will rise in long term for sure.

For me it is okay as Bitcoin only did some corrections but I think it will soar high again after the Segwit will be fully activated, don't expect a dip in price cause for me it is not likely to happen the resistance is strong in $4000 so my advice is go for it but take the full risk at your own. It is much better to invest until the year 2017 ends instead of investing for a short term so good luck to your $1k.

Dude, this is a bitcoin forum and all you're going to hear is people telling you it's a great idea.   Do some reading here and you'll find an answer to your question one way or another.   

Personally I think it's a good idea, but bitcoin is very volatile and very risky.  If that $1000 is extra money,  go for it.  If you would be suicidal if you lost it all tomorrow,  don't do it.  And don't listen to people who tell you to buy their pet shitcoin.  They're bagholders looking for a sucker to unload on.

Its better to invest that $1k in multiple coins rather than only in bitcoin. Invest 50% of it in bitcoin, 30% in ethereum and 20% in litecoin. In this way you can limit your risk of losing all you have and also this can increase your chances of making good profit in long term holding.

Im more so into long term investing, I will be purchasing other coins as well. I just wanted to know if it was wise to add bitcoin to my protfolio

Yes it is wise to invest in Bitcoin. There are some expectations of Bitcoin going through correction since the price rise steadily for the past weeks. If you buy at high price now, the opportunity cost will be losing the chance to buy at lower point. For me, I will buy at this point of time since I am holding for long term. And no one knows what is the lowest price if correction happens.

Although several people in this thread suggest to invest in other altcoins and some suggest to invest in both, alts and BTC, I think if you have little to nothing knowledge about alts it's better to invest in Bitcoin solely. Bitcoin has now great potential and it is possible, like michkima said, that the price might reach $10k by the end of this year.

I suppose 1k is too much for you. You invest in bitcoin if you can forget this money for a long time. Bitcoin will increase upwards for sure but it may have big corrections in this time. You have to hold and forget about this money.

It's not necessarily a bad idea, I wouldn't be against it, but there's a lot of money they can be made off of investing in other cryptos, using Bitcoin as a means to trade them. While it comes down to pump n dumps, and there's a fair amount of volatility and variability (especially since no crypto will ever stick around for long once it hits its own pump stage), there is a lot more value in this activity than passively waiting for the Bitcoin market to go up or down. Investing in Bitcoin as a tool, and less as a "real" investment, and start to put money into shitcoins and make money off of their own markets.

The price is soaring high and it is almost at its current resistance level. You could buy when it drops a bit like 4K or less. You could buy some alts though, they are all red this past few days. They will make good profit when the price stabilize a bit.

You should probably see the prices and the ups and downs in them from last 7 days or so, and you will have a clear idea if it is a good time to invest or not. Well, if i had that money and i was looking to invest them somewhere, i would do it of course, seeing the potential bitcoin has in future that is something i couldn't ignore at all, but, as it is always said, "Listen to everyone, do what you think is right."

It really depends on your investment strategy and patience level. If you are holding Bitcoin for the long haul (more than 6 months) then anytime would be a good time to buy in. Of course, timing the price so you get a good value is both a good idea and risky at the same time.

Who knows when the price will go up to $5000? There is little chance of it dropping to $0, so you really have to do a risk assessment on the market and yourself.

Either way, most of the world is skeptical or just now learning about Bitcoin, so there is still major opportunity ahead especially with its limited supply and expanding uses.

You could gamble on cheaper altcoins and then invest the profits into Bitcoin, but imo that is more risky than buying Bitcoin flat out.

It is not much but it will do. Because the opportunity on having a profit out if Bitcoin even if the captain is small is the same. It just happened that you are just wasting an opportunity to earn more in the future. But actually it is not bad to deal with small start investment. You  could not obliged yourself on having money you actually not have. But in a hard work and the right time there is a higher possibility that you could earn more as much you could have a better option on earning.

I think you should wait for some time, there will be slightly correction in the bitcoin value. Once the price is low you can buy the bitcoin at lower price. But as per me 1K is very less investment, you should invest little more if you want to see more profit.

of course, bitcoin is right now is a movement which will make a guaranteed profit everyone is possibly extracting profits from the markets as much they can. bitcoin was always the best option for the long term investments but now it is even the best possible investment which can make you rich in just 1year or if not then of course in 2years. it is generating profit in extream rate and I am sure banks are already roasted due to their jealousy and hates.

It is possible to wait and buy at a price a little lower than current. But we don't know what will happen. We might see much higher price in coming days. In my opinion the risk doesn't worth it. Think about long-term and invest right now.

I think that we saw too rapid a price rise so it was a real. I wouldn't now buy bitcoin. Probably need to wait. Towards the end of August, the price should stabilize and show your real figure. This price as it is now should be the end of the year.

I believe it is if you can afford to invest that much. Could be that the price will be dumped a little, but it could also get up in the upcoming days. Anyway, in both scenarios you will make profit if you buy Bitcoins because the price will for sure rise and on that high invested amount you could earn a very nice sum. Bitcoin is good investment but you should hold your bitcoins for a long time to take advantage of today's time/price ratio. It it never late to buy and keep bitcoin imo..

Depends on your goal. If you're investing, I mean on the long run, then anytime is good. But if you want to make quick buck, buying low, selling high, then you should wait because there will be a dump to 3000 or something like that. But you will need to catch that moment because soon after that, the price will go up again.

It's worth it, just note that it may take a year or more for bitcoin price to raise by 50%, and even in such case you'll only earn $500, which isn't anything big. Best case scenario in a year you'll make enough to buy a new PC.
Worst case scenario we'll have a large correction, like the one throughout 2014 and you'll have to wait for another 2 years to profit.

When it comes to Bitcoins,  it's never too late to invest, if you have the fujds, I'd advise that you invest more into the currency. This is one sure investment that is sure not to fail at all, it maybe a while but you are going to see profits eventually.

Only if you have more to throw in later, when prices are much lower. This market is moving, in both directions, every day. Be prepared to sell part of what you buy today for a fast profit, and buy back cheaper. People who ignore the down moves are not making max returns.

Most people are too dumb to benefit from the volatility that this market offers to people. It's not for nothing that people end up selling at a loss when the price is tanking big time -- they just blindly invest in Bitcoin just assuming they will make some quick profits. Well buying bitcoin is always good decision so if you really want to make a good profit better to invest it in bitcoin and hold it for a long time. . but first wait for the price to decrease first a little bit just to get the benefits of the price dump and pump..

Buying bitcoins for now is very good decision but if you can wait for little backward dip then you might earn good with it at this moment. But If you speculate something good will be happen on bitcoins then you should buy right now since bitcoins price is pretty fast moving and the price rage is getting more faster and maybe for now we can see some great major lift until 5000$ will be reached.

I would advise you to watch the market for some time before you actually buy bitcoins. The volatility is at peak and the chances are such that you might end up losing your money especially if you are looking for quick gains and don't intend to hold it for long but ultimately it's a decision you have to take on your own. Although there might appear fair chances of bitcoin prices going up but don't ignore the possibility of them going down too altogether.

Any investment in highly volatile instruments will always involve risks inherent to any investment of this nature, since no one in this forum or any other specialized site has been able to predict the bitcoin behavior in the long or medium term. But if you can afford to risk that money, it can certainly be a good decision although you could expect for some correction to buy below $4000.

At this point it's quite risky if you invest 1K because I think the value of bitcoin is high enough for this year, Maybe bitcoin value will continue to increase but for this year I think it has reach it's maximum amount...better wait when the value of bitcoin crashed again since it continue to fluctuates. The best time to invest is when the price is low and sell when the price is high.

Right now investing with bitcoin is good decision. As the price increase taking place in multiples of 100$ and above surely even a 0.1btc gives a profit to the invested amount. So 1k it's quite possible to buy more than 0.2 btc which can get a good profit. Maybe the same if held for years can benefit good in future.

This is right. It's currently in a bull market with no forseeable major negative catalyst, except for another hard fork in november (which, by all means, means nothing for the bitcoin network but the market will move sentimentally).

If you're planning to invest it for a long term investment I would suggest yes because I believe bitcoin is still undervalued and that it would probably increase after some quite time. But if it's for short term investment better wait till the price goes down because as of this time the value of bitcoin is really high and you might not earn if you invest now

It depends on how necessary that money is for you.
If you say that you would invest that money anyway into something, then go ahead.
If you think it's a good way to make profit in a short time because you need the profit, be careful.
I would not see bitcoin as a short term investment.
To be on the safe side, I would calculate with some time to sell it again.

At this point? I have to say yes to that. If only I have 1000 USD in possession, I will definitely invest it to Bitcoin immediately. I am pretty confident that Bitcoin will still increase in price. The only question for you is for how long do you need/want to hold your Bitcoin? If it is for a short period of time only, you might not get a lot or even lose some; but if you will hold 'em for a long period of time, a year or so, then I suggest that you get on board now!

Of course. I always wanted to buy some Bitcoin but I cannot since I cannot afford to buy some even at a small percentage. Not that I am so poor or something, I just do not have some money now that I can afford to lose. If you are here in the forum way back when the price was still on $1,000 for the first time since the last time it happened, there are some questions about if it's too late to ride the wave? Hesitation coems up to the mind of others and instead of buying they want to wait for more dips but it didn't happened. And still the same concern was being brought up while the price is increasing. If you look chronologically, the price suffers price crash but in the end, the rise is way more higher.

maybe this is not the time to invest 1k wait till the price drop up to $2k in order to get a good comeback from your funds. or do trading instead. Investing or putting money on bitcoin is always wise to get in no matter which time you would decide specially if you are really longing for longer term targets and as been said above adding slowly small amount on bitcoin would really add up your bitcoin savings and this is what im doing now which is also a good way on becoming successful on bitcoin world. You may buy some altcoin in the market which you seem would give you money then proceed but since you are asking about bitcoin then its still the best choice.

No not at all. If you have 1000$ means,bitcoin is the only place to inverse your money. Even if you inverse in gold means it will give little bit profit .But in bitcoin it's entirely different. When ever you want profit means you can sell the holding bitcoin to get the how much profit you want.

My input is that to invest just 100$ in these days in bitcoin because I know that tomorrow my 100$ USD would be 200$ so it's far better for me to join bitcoin right now with 100$ USD. What i mean is you mentality it if i put 1000$ when will it become 2000$.
