Title: Blockchain phone wallet
Post by: spazzdla on August 16, 2017, 07:50:22 PM
Hello, a couple of my friends downloaded this wallet on to their I-phones some time ago.  I sent them some BTC, now they cannot access their wallets.  They  say they only created a pin and not a passcode and now it is asking for a passcode.. Anyone use this phone wallet much?  Any ideas?

I used blockchain wallet on android and only had pin. Tried just out once more. But, before I could access the wallet, they offered me to make a backup and therefore  a password is needed. Maybe your friends should only create a new password or bypass the backup or forgot that they backupped already. or its a bug. They should in any case contact blockchain wallet support. Or its the same sh... like with the icloud mails that only can be accessed  on mobile device when 2fa is created without warning.

I'm not familiar with the passcode thing in blockchain wallet in Android or even on IOS, only the pin is required on every time you want to open the app, maybe they just misread it. Try to input their pin on the passcode input box if it functions.
If not then it's time to ask their support about that issue I think it's a bug from their wallet since this wallet is full of bugs.

Did they create their new wallet directly through the app?
I'm not IOs user but I'm using blockchain wallet on my android and there is no requirement to fill a passcode  (only pin is needed). If they made their wallet through the official site of blockchain then I think it is easy to solve the problem as they may just reconnect the wallet by scanning the barcode.

I think your fried have made four incorrect login attempt so it is now asking for wallet's main password. Read more about this here https://blockchain.info/wallet/iphone-app

WHAT IF I LOSE MY PIN?
If you enter an incorrect PIN 4 times you will simply be asked to re-enter your main password. If you have forgotten your main password, you can re-access your bitcoin by using your Backup Phrase.
Read more about why it's important to backup your wallet with your Backup Phrase here.

I use the wallet on my phone, it’s a very cool stuff though just that its interface is not as great as that of the Web wallet. I think it was developed just for you to check your wallet balance and make transactions. Though it requires you to setup a PIN that you’d use to access the phone wallet, just a 4 digit code.

The blockchain app on phone has a very easy to use interface though its not loaded with lots of functions, it is basically just to send and receive coins and to check the latest bitcoin price. It uses a 4 digit code which you setup when installing

I have been using the wallet on my phone for quite a long time without difficulties, though once when I lost my pin, I simply uninstalled the app and installed it again and I was good to go with a new pin, the interface is easy to use but it has limited functionalities.
