Avalon is offering sample chips now with every 10k order, which are sent first.
Did anyone already received some of them and could contribute informations?

I am waiting ... everyone's waiting. Any day now.

At Bitcoin 2013, Yifu said they will ship the sample chips (30 pieces per order of 10k) by the end of May.

I really want some companies to deliver on a promise now and then.  I understand this isn't the most simple thing in the world, and that people are often working with minimal capitol.  Wouldn't you learn to give better buffer times for your projects?  or not announce until you have the product?  Hard to understand how these things happen so often.

Looking at batch 2 being delivered in May and throughout the rest of June. Maybe batch 3 will be delivered throughout July and the first orders of 10k chips will start shipping in August/Sept? That is way off the original projected date on Avalon's website at 9-10 weeks. What do you guys think?

So that's a set of sample chips, and don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see it.  But their site still says 9-10wks for delivery of chips.  How long have people been waiting again?  is this really reasonable?  Come on, more transparency.  Stop screwing with people.

Yes, I hope so, but still every week..  every day counts at this point.  I'm trying to keep track of all the possible ways to get hashing power to the public here..   There are a lot of people that will see this and hit the order button.  Well good, I'm sure they'll get chips eventually, if Avalon has their say.  They seem to be really trying here.  But WHY can't they stop lying about lead time?  It is extremely misleading to their customers, when timing is the key element.

Okay, this is news to me. I have 6( or was it 7? ) group buy's worth of chips ordered, and so far there's not even a chirp from them.

I hope the group buy i am in, is not the one you can`t remember !!!

There is no notification email. It just gets sent. That address was in Beijing which is why they got it first? Perhaps a bit of patience?

Well, about 3 of my group buys are based in Beijing. Hopefully the operator gets the chips soon...

No. The shipping should be from China. TSMC does not package and send out individual chips.

So people are receiving sample chips before the rest of Batch 2 and 3 are being shipped out?

Those are sample chips for developers to test their boards, just 30 pcs for every 10k order.

I got the sample chips, which were shipped from Haidian district, Beijing.

Yes, I got a call this morning at 10:30 from SF-express and then I asked someone to accept the package for me. But I didn't realize it as Avalon chips. After I confirmed the package was shipped from Haidian, I realized that might be the chips, so I returned back from a trip in advance. And now I got 30 sample chips.

How should I distribute the sample chips to the group buyers, based on the 1st group buy, or all three batches? Before this message, actually I have posted the distribution message based on just the 1st group buy.

No, only 30 chips regardless of how many batches ordered to the same address. Hmm... I guess we'll need to do this by all three batches. Let's continue the discussion there. :)

The way things seem to work my guess would be more like 4 weeks.

I would probably estimate at least 8 weeks with the way avalon has been shipping orders out.

Not sure about that. The payment for bulk chip manufacture is still sitting in Bitsyncom's wallet.

Also they have a responsibility to fulfill their Batch 2, 3 and the poor sod's from Batch 1 Avalon's that still haven't received their unit first!

That would be seriously sly to f**k those guys over by prioritising the bulk orders over their units. Their time for ROI has already significantly diminished from what they were led to believe...

So you what ur saying is... even if the foundry finished building the chips, they should hold off shipping those until they can finish assembling batch 2/3 of the full units? Sounds a bit selfish dont you think?

I'm not so sure about that. They have responsibility to do everything they can to fix their assembly production problems as quickly as possible, but presuming the problems they are having there aren't related to chip production I don't think they will hold off shipping chips until batch 2/3 (and some 1) is 100% fulfilled.

Chips are a different product with different requirements than a full miner from the batches, so shipping chips whenever they are available isn't the same thing as line jumping the batch orders. Of course I'm waiting on chips and not batch 2 or 3, but even if it were the other way around I don't think I would expect them to withhold shipping of chips because of unrelated production problems with the batch miners. Especially given all along they have claimed they want to sell chips not completed miners...

That said, I do agree it sucks though for the folks waiting on batch 2 and 3.

You may fuck BitSyncom! Their comments on the sample chips that only 30 chips for each receiver address just came after our decision of the distribution. So we changed it to let all 3 batches share those 30 sample chips. I am so disappointed.

I think most of the major devs will get what they need.

Were this sample chips the big weekend announcement? I presume not but I dont see anything else ?

remember to shoot some sample chip to Bkkcoins and  burnin for them to test and tweak b4 actual chip arrives :)

Probably in about 2 to 3 weeks those 1st and 2 batch baby avalon chip should on their way ;)

We all got upset, but it's sorted now.
It was some miscommunication inside Avalon (shipping crew). Every 10k order will get 30 sample chips.
