Title: help with transaction
Post by: rubenix on August 20, 2017, 06:08:16 AM
Hello,

Had bitcoins in mycellium wallet for android.

Wanted to test the electron cash wallet app also for android so made a bitcoin transaction from mycellium wallet to my new electron cash wallet; On mycelium wallet shows as confirmed transaction but never got my coins on electrum cash wallet showing balance 0

here my transaction: https://blockchain.info/address/1G97YM7tb8ihixU3JKLxqyzKuTHQUndsa3 (https://blockchain.info/address/1G97YM7tb8ihixU3JKLxqyzKuTHQUndsa3)

Im quite new with cryptocurrencies and can't figure out what happened here / where my coins went...

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks in advance!

You made a Bitcoin transaction.

Electron cash is coded to be ran on Bitcoin Cash blockchain. You sent Bitcoins from Mycelium to a Bitcoin address. It is not possible to send Bitcoins from the Bitcoin blockchain to the Bitcoin Cash blockchain.

To get your Bitcoins back, you have to download Electrum and restore the wallet using the seeds you've got or the private keys.

thanks for your quick reply. For what Im reading I made a real noob mistake (didnt understand electron cash).

So its certainly possible to get my bitcoins back?

I don't get the point BTW. Witch wallet are you referring me to restore? I already restored my wallet from electrum with my seed and still shows 0 balance

Yes it is possible. Always remember "electrum" is for bitcoins and "electron cash" is for "Bitcoin Cash" aka BCC/BCH.

As Ranochigo said you can get your coins back by making a wallet in electrum by using your electron cash seed

or You can simply export that 1G97 address private key from "electron cash" and sweep it in mycellium.

wow, many thanks!! it worked, restored my seed into a electron walled and have my bitcoins back!!

my mistake was as simple as I didn't realize that  "electrum" is for bitcoins and "electron cash" is for "Bitcoin Cash" aka BCC/BCH.

installed electron cash thinking that was also for bitcoins!!

thanks and have a nice day!!

--> I will read and read (and understand) before doing any transaction again!!

cheers mates!
