Title: Bitcoin on the rise so what is the future of altcoins
Post by: meejay on August 20, 2017, 11:13:10 AM
Hello everyone,

I am watching the BTC rise with enthusiasm just like the rest of world. Still altcoins did nor recovered from the July 2017 dips.

What do you think the future of altcoins in terms of prices. Please provide thoughts regardless of individual potentials.

Kind regards,
Utku

Altcoins prices are somehow related to the bitcoin price. It is evident when bitcoin is on the bull run most alts are decreasing in terms of price. However, some alts as well are in conjunction with bitcoin's bull run. And as bitcoin price settles at new highs alts find new higher floors respective to their previos prices. When trading it is important to know price trends. As for my assessment most alts back in 2016 are on below 1000 sats. And now, they're on above 1000 sats level. Take for example NXT, I remember when NXT is just around 600 sats last year and now it is setting around 2k-3k levels, it even reached 7k sats and that goes with NEM, XRP and others. Imo, alts will continue to grow as bitcoin grows.

Altcoins are always valuable. In the past days, all attention has been towards Bitcoin. Now bitcoin price is becoming more stable. It will cause investors to invest in altcoins to make profit in short term and long term.

All altcoins actually don't move together or according to bitcoin. This rise or fall is totally about speculation so this kind of rise or fall is not benefical for a coin.

The price of bitcoin continuously rose from july until lately. So the price of altcoins go down because some people may dump altcoins for bitcoin to take advantage of the price. But once it settles down, they will buy the low priced altcoin and will push the price back up. So now is actually a good time to buy alts because they are in discount

BTC has consolidated around $4100-4200 these past couple of weeks.  I don't think its time to take profits from BTC but its a good time to put more into some altcoins.

Many altcoins are near or above their ATH's and others are much lower than they were in June.  This isn't a good basis in determining which altcoins to invest in but there are definitely some coins that I think are a higher value at the moment.  Siacoin is very cheap right now.  OMG is on the rise, highly volatile and near its all time highs but I think its a good place to invest right now.  LTC has held steady throughout the whole drama but I would dump it.  Stratis is one of the best buys right now.

Not all of them, but most of them has a value inside. And their price is connected to bitcoin and ethereum in the markets. If the btc or eth price of an altcoins doesn't decrease, and if the btc or eth price increase, the final price of that altcoin will stay high.

of course the price of alts will down for a while, after bitcoin price is stable people will invest in alts for trading and many more, so i think there is no problem in here, it's normal cycle, just enjoy the ride

Still altcoins did nor recovered from the July 2017 dips.

that is because the altcoins were in a huge bubble that needed bursting. and the bitcoin price rise in July was just an excuse for the dump to speed up.

generally speaking when bitcoin price rises, altcoins get dumped hard. but that doesn't change their future. they will remain the same pump and dump thing. and eventually when bitcoin market became calm they start pumping again.
that is one of the reasons they say this market is all about timing.

Although most of the alternate coin is now dumped or not moving in terms of price worry not because time will come alternate coins will be pump why? because bitcoin need a friendly competition with alt coin so that both of parties will have improvement in terms on price and volume. So just be patient and wait for the time to come.

I think of BTC much like the US Dollar; meaning most currencies are benched against the US Dollar for their value.  Most exchanges pair their coins against BTC; even the ones that allow trading with fiat.  I don't see this changing anytime soon so most of my investment is in BTC.  I also hold a handful of alt coins but most of those are established coins.  Only a very small sliver of what I hold are new altcoins.

Also, altcoins aka shitcoins have no future so even the prices increase for the time being, there is no guarantee it will have a bright future since no-one takes alt's seriously when it comes to commercialisation.

The altcoins are valued in terms of bitcoins lol so yes they do move together according to bitcoin.

It is interesting to note that Bitcoin lost its absolute dominance in Cryptoland; we were looking at close to 90% of the total market capitalization at the start of this year, now Bitcoin hovers somewhat below 50%. Still by far the biggest coin on the market ofcourse.

I'd say the majority of the existing altcoins will rise too in the near future, though just a few will transform into behemoths like Ethereum.
