Considering just buying a few bitcoin around $4000. What are your opinions? Should I wait until it drops in September? Will it drop in October because of the hard fork, or will it go up because everyone wants to get their share of the fork coin? Will whales push the price down in September so they can accumulate it cheaper?

Nobody can give you the right answer.Nobody can predict how the big whales will react to the segregated witness implementation.I don`t know anything about an October hard fork.Perhaps the bitcoin price will decrease one or two weeks before the hard fork just like before August 1.
I don`t expect the price to go back to 3000 USD around September,unless something big happens(a war or some disaster).

Maybe people could share their pre fork strategies Sell all alts, hold bch and btc? Timeline?

We all do not know when will the price of bitcoin.
But I think that better we buy or invest from now ,. Because all have agreed that bitcoin prices will continue to rise in each year ..
And do not care about forks that happen in the future

As noone knows the future, buying from now seems to be a good strategy. If price falls, buy more. If it rises, start smiling and watch.

But I never heard of another fork in October. Just sold my free BCH before it loses all its worth. Well, another free airdrop would bring us more free Satoshis if we sell it then.  ;D

I do not want to repeat the panic like 1 August, where I have sold bitcoins before a hard fork occurs. As before, it's hard to predict what will happen when there will be a second hard fork in October. I can only hope there will be no drastic decline, and I will stick with bitcoin

No one can say what will be happen so I think if you want wait the price go down.then buy the price that fits to your capital. Its okay to buy even the price is high,Its up to you.

If you look at the price history of bitcoin, you might have noticed some trend/pattern. It goes up <spike> and then it hovers at that high price for a while and then it goes down to just above the level where it was before the spike. It stays at this level for a while and then it goes bonkers! It usually goes much higher then, than it's previous record price.

$4000 is the price before the next breakout, if you look at the trend/pattern. ^hmmmmm^

In my opinion yes, it's a perfect time buy bitcoin right now. The price of bitcoin already going down since the last 2 days and i think it's time for bitcoin to go up again. I'm not 100% sure about that but if i were you, i will buy bitcoin half of my money and keep it for the rest because it's still not stable right now.

You said it yourself, whales pushing the price down to buy cheaper coins, if you really believe in Bitcoin then no matter what the price is, you should always be willing to invest and risk your money because it has proven to worth taking such risks due to great rewards. I just don't want to see you regret your decision of hesitating and not buying when you had the chance. when you buy Bitcoin you should never sell until the price is high enough that not selling actually hurts you financially.

Im sure price is going to explode after the soft fork that is going to happen soon. With last fork experience we have seen brighter side of the bitcoin and next fork is not exception. I would advice you to the money without any fear but i would also suggest you wait for little more and take the chance if the price drop due to panick selling. Same case happened last time when fork was announced everyone started moving their btc to other coins or fiat conversion. This was the top most reason why btc dumped itself and value got all upto 1800 USD. Then there was pumping again when everything came back normal.

This will repeat again for the next for. So incesting now will also be profitable but investing during fork would be far better than this. However uncertainty always follow in the crypto world.

yes it is the perfect time to buy bitcoin because it is not yet $500,000 so you can afford to buy one $500,000 bitcoin for the price of $4000.

after September is October, then November, then December then January 2018, February,.... and each month there will be another thing going on. it is fork now, then it is ETF, then it is someone FUDing then it is China again, then it is another country, then it is another bullshit we don't know yet, and so on.
if you want to wait for each of these you will end up waiting for eternity.

It's hard to predict what will happen next. But it still a good price to buy though. If bitcoin cash pumps. Pretty sure the bitcoin will drop as the volume of bitcoin users are switching to bitcoin cash. Anyway, buy at it's current price is good since we know the potential of bitcoin. Bitcoin just reach $4700 recently. We will see more of it in the near future. $5000 is possible. Or maybe wait for it to drop a bit.

if you want to do some short better to play safe and place an entry between 3900-4k as if the price go down you can get some out from it and for sure

It's up to you, if you want to buy bitcoin in that price value. Actually, if you are gonna think of it according to the bitcoin experts their projection before and of this year, bitcoin could reach 10, 000$ which means compare it to 4000$ now it is still time to buy bitcoin then save and hold it in a long term.

It seems like you almost also answer your questions, any legit news from Bitcoin developers that will happen along this Scaling will surely affect its price of course but everything can also happens during this changes as Bitcoin Cash is showing off in the market. We can't really do nothing but to wait what will happen in the price of Bitcoin, but if you may ask my opinion about this you must better buy in now because this will gonna be a make it or break it last quarter part of the year for Bitcoin, if it goes down(I hope not so deep) then hold your coins till it bounce back again, if it goes up then good for all of us. Keep in mind, just invest what you afford to lose.

I think you should buy now! i also bought when the price was 3200$. just like you was waiting for the price to fall but instead the price kept rising. So i bought before the SW lock in. Even if the price will drop a little the overall tendency is growing ;)

Segwit2x requires a hard fork to take place roughly three months after activation. In other words, aside from whatever will really happen at that point, the 2MB hard fork is supposed to kick in somewhere in mid November (give or take a few days). It's something the majority of the miners have agreed on, but the Core side doesn't see much value in it. It will wake up another round of uncertainties and drama, like we have been experiencing in the runup to the 1st of August. In that regard, we should be having a bit more patience to see this annoying scaling 'war' come to an end. Nowadays the main focus isn't Bitcoin anymore, but the greed of the individual characters in this industry.

I think at any price you need to buy. Because now the whole world is buying bitcoin. The price will rise.

We can don't actually speculate it as the previous fork was done and the bitcoiners are now aware what will happen on before and after fork. In the short term -> Segwit activation will mean that price will probably go up to something like $4500-$5000 in my opinion. $4k will give you moderate amounts of profit. Definitely not a whole lot though, don't expect the sort of profit that was made like before.

In the long term, $4k is a steal. BTC has no limits imposed on its price in the long term, and is a great hedge against inflation. As more people adopt, the price will just keep going up.

In my opinion, this may be the last opportunity to purchase Bitcoin at sub-5,000 levels. But if you trust the Goldman Sachs, then it is a different story. One of their guys predicted that Bitcoin can correct itself to $2,000 per coin in a matter of few months.

I remember after hitting the 2xxx ATH and I felt 1,800 was the best time to buy (or in my case, request fiat-value coin payments). Proved to be correct as it never went back below that after surging past 2k. And then when 3,300-3,500 levels arrived, I felt certain the dip would again happen. It didn't. I still have payments pending from 3,300 weeks. If there's anything to be learnt, it's that beyond the span of weeks and months, there's no bad time to buy Bitcoin anymore. Just bite down, get your coins, forget the temporary ups and down, keep your eyes firmly on the horizon.

I don't think that's the best options for you to buy at that range(4000$) it would be so risky. Give a little time as soon even to 3000$ range it dropped at that way you can have an insured profit. It is normal to pause for a while when it is needed to.

I beg to disagree, why wait if you can get it now. If you will wait then you will miss a lot of opportunity to earn. What if it didn't drop the price to $3000 but instead to high to $5000? You may have waited for nothing and missing opportunity to really profit moving forward.



Very good observation. And this is a good example of not waiting for the price to dip before getting. The price went up in 24 hours at $2900 if I'm correct. That is why for me if you have funds right now, this is the perfect time to enter the market again because the chance of seeing the price to go up is very likely.

We don't know if it will go down to $3000 maybe some other time from $4000+ it will move up to $5000 it is advisable to buy in some dip of price and yet $4000 is good range to buy.

Yes it is not certain, we can not say that bitcoin prices will drop to 3000 $ and we also can not be sure that bitocin prices will rise again better than the current price. This looks so speculators because bitcoin prices are currently stable, before prices always go up and down easily in the range of price range 4000 $ up to 4700 $. So it's possible to buy now will make us more profit than just waiting for the unexpected 3000 $ rate.

I wouldn't say $4,000 is the perfect time to buy. Definitely not, in fact. The perfect time to buy is after the price crashed. That would have been around $200. With that said, I believe the price will go over $5,000 shortly, so it still is a good time to buy.

everybody have tried it since the price around $800 and people looking for huge buy at $200 which it is never happened until now . and today the price even keep increasing. so don't make yourself full of regret , even though still unsure , the future of bitcoin really promising more than just an investment only.

for me this is not the right time to buy with bitcoin very $4000 price is still expensive for me to buy, at least we are waiting for the price decline in the bitcoin some day maybe it will be an advantage for us as I do not want a repeat of the panic on 1 August, where I have been selling bitcoins before fork hard going ;) :)

Never say never, but the chances for the market to tank to such levels are extremely low. Realistically, the lowest I can see happen is that the $3000 level will get tested. Looking at the demand at above that level, it will require a trader to dump a whole lot of coins at once, and then the price might have slightly dipped below $3000 on just one exchange. I personally have set my buy targets between $3000-$3500 -- that's significantly more realistic than what you aim for.

Impossible Bitcoin price can go down to 2000 $ because Bitcoin already famous and many people who need it.

That is why i just still holding bitcoins because there are still many people are waiting for low price just to buy cheap price of bitcoin and $1800-$2200 value is really cheap but i think its impossible right now to see this value unless if this coming november if the impact for fork2 is negative maybe we can see a large dump or crash for the price of bitcoin but mostly its a normal to see drop price and the price increasing fast..
Hope that you can realize that the price of bitcoin will be hardly to crash because there are big investors are waiting for a cheap price that is why the price of bitcoin just playing around $3900 to $4100.

Why do you hope that it will not go below $2000 again? If it does go below $2000, I will load up on Bitcoin. It will be a great buying opportunity. Of course, some weak hands may be shaken out, but Bitcoin will rise again.

You did missed the chance of buying when it was around $3,700 few hours back then. $4,000 is a good amount to buy and it won't be dropping anymore on September. And what I seen with the fast years that everything that regards to bitcoin, things are happening with it and there's a lot of chance that bitcoin's price will increase.

to me I think to wait for such level is not a good idea. I think bitcoin price has still good potential and the interest of the people about bitcoin is increasing from time to time. therefore I do not think that bitcoin is going to drop but will continue increasing and therefore I think we ned to buy bitcoin in current postion otherwise we will be regretting for the present time.

There is no perfect time or price to buy bitcoin, but you can always buy the dip. Just like early this week the price dropped to 3600, you should have bought that. If it drops again, buy that dip again. We know bitcoin always recover so buying the dip is the right timing to buy.

Segwit2x hard fork on November is the biggest news and many speculation will occurs, if you want to purchase few bitcoin, then wait until its price decline. I guess it may drop back to $2500-$3000 again in case if another chain split will happen.
If you want to buy, divide your capital into several parts and invest partially whenever dip happens, don't invest all of your capital at once as you may regret it if bitcoin price keep declining.

The perfect time was at three digits even though we thought that it was expensive at that time like we say now that 4k is expensive, who knows what price will bitcoin have after few years or in the next decade.

Definitely 4000$ price is not the best time to buy bitcoins but it is up to you whether you like to buy now or not. Any time is a good time to enter bitcoin holding since it would still go up in price in the future either way so you will still have profit. If you can wait though, I suggest you wait for another dump and when one occurs, dont just wait for september just buy already. If one dont occur until september then wait a little more for cheap bitcoins, getting more profit is always nice.

It is always a good time to buy, $4000 is little change compared to what it will sell by the end of the year and January. In a few years time you will be well pleased if you are a long term holder.

At this point a perfect time to buy Bitcoin doesn't exist since nothing can come even close to when people were buying their coins for a few bucks a piece.

Focus should be on what your targets are. If you plan to hodl your coins for the long term (minimum of three years), then buying at current levels will grant you a very decent entry price.

If you are short term minded, then it might be a better moment to wait for the price to start correcting itself ~ I don't think we're very far away from this to be happening.

One thing that needs to be thought while buying is the profitability which is assured. So without hesitation can invest unlike the price staying above $4000 or below $4000.

Buying now is the best strategy to use if you want to really succeed in bitcoin buying and holding strategy for long term. Bitcoin price has try to stay above $4000 for the past one week and I think we may not go below $4000 in the next three months.

I think the perfect time to buy bitcoin is after the hard fork considering the increasing value in the past few weeks, I guess the value will drop by September and probably will pump before the year end. The price of btc go under at 4000$ last week and those time is the perfect time to buy but suddenly I miss those golden oppurtunities since I don't have any capital to buy some, feel lucky to those guys who bought for that time since price is getting back to its old high price and it is standing at the current rate of 4100$+ and maybe it will climb again soon to 4200$ up.

Because nothing happened with bitcoin on aug 1. Clone chain of BCH is just a clone, not the hard fork.

But I don't believe that its price will below to again 4000$ and I think yesterday is good chance for us to buy bitcoin because yesterday the bitcoin price was 3700 to 3900$ but we miss this good chance so I don't think that its price goes to again below 4000$, so don't waste their time to wait it that price goes to low just buy it now.

IMO you could definitely buy at $4000 or even $4100 which is the current price level and expect some sort of profit on your coin very very soon after. Because right now, i don't think that Segwit has set in full scale yet. Once it does people will get very optimistic(or until some other threat of community division happens, at least), and as a result the price of btc will go up.

I wouldn't call it the perfect time though, as you are playing in a very dangerous time. I have cashed out myself, and i would recommend you to do the same if you can't take the risk of losing a few hundred dollars per btc. That's the best thing to do imo, or at least diversify some of your portfolio so not everything is in btc.

For about 99.9% of Bitcoin's history, the price has been below $4000, anytime in this 99.9% would have been a better time to buy.

Its was 4-5 days back when the price had reached 3700$ was the time to start accumulating. Had somebody being purchasing from that time too one would have easily made 400$+ in just under a weeks time per btc. It will not be easy at this time for the market to fall since everybody now is in buying mode and some developing countries will soon be legalizing the btc in coming months. So prices and demand will only rise.

Agreed, $4000 is a better price for selling rather than buying. Once again buying is good unlike the price increase, because the price is expected to reach as high as $100k from expertise prediction. So holding will be effective than spending for unnecessary needs.

I do not think that the price is the right time to buy bitcoin, I do not care what bitcoin is worth, the most important thing I have more money is, this is because I'm sure that the price will go up.

If we look at the current price then we can conclude there has been a positive trend of price increase. It is $4,351 right now, as i expected the price will increase again. If OP buy bitcoins when the price still on $4,000, he will get so much profit from it. If the price decrease below $4,000, go buy it before the price increase again and i think the bitcoin price will be hard to going down again. The price will be stable at $3,800-$4,300+.

I think this is way too high for bitcoin. I don't think if many people will buy this big amount of bitcoin but probably for those investors who can afford will of course get that price. However,those who aren't happy with the price is kinda dangerous for them specially if it won't decrease. In the long term this will probably be the best strategy. Just buy and hold. And have patience of course.
Only god knows what Bitcoin will be worth in let's say 10 years.
But I'd guess, as long as Bitcoin survives and will still be the top crypto currency, you may see high 5 figures if not already low 6 figures with a bit of luck.

Right now Bitcoin demand is increasing all over the world in which Asia being the major driver. Price is growing since the start of this year with only July as exception that too because of fork. One more fork is scheduled in November mid. There might be a drop. But according to my analysis, price might have touched $6000 till then. Hence, the drop would certainly not going to bring the price back to $4000. For coming months before November, price will only increase with some fluctuations. So yeah, it is indeed the right time to buy.

If you are going to hold it for the long term then I would suggest you to keep accumulating at $4K level with a smaller amount and higher frequency. I think there will be volatility for next few months and the price will keep floating between $3,500 to $4,500 levels. Thus you can take advantage of it using cost averaging method. I would say this is a perfect time to start systematic investment plan for the long term.

As long as we believe in bitcoin, current price is the best for buying bitcoin. Because, if we already have bitcoin it's easier for us to make money by utilizing bitcoin. And profit that can be achieved isn't disappointing.

I always support the idea about buying more bitcoins, that is the best possible investment at the moment. Your prediction is very reasonable in my opinion, price rise in last couple month's made many of us optimistic about increase, double price on 8.000$ for next year is similar with my prediction. When I consider all factors, experts that predict 15.000$ next year, adoption, bitcoin price can double from now in next 18 months easily, maybe faster, to be honest I didn't expect price to be so close to 5.000$ so fast this year. Yes, as the price was marching towards $5000 and an outburst in China has caused an problem to the price stop its growth not to cross $5000. A single bitcoin is valued to go higher based on the market acceptance that happened similar to the one that happened with Japan, where in a short time period more than 20000 shops accepted bitcoin in a small time period.

For long term investment then price ranges wont really matter since you do believe on its potential price in the future which would eventually reach up the profits that you do expect but on active trading it would really be on different story for now as op ask on the 4k range is the perfect time to buy i would say it wont.Checking on its latest price we are already on 3.8k range and possible decrease even more lower on upcoming days would really be there.We should be attentive on the possible dip prices in able to get in on the lowest price as possible.

Most traders are pointing at $4100 as the key moment. Whatever happens before $4100 is pretty much irrelevant. Honestly im feeling pretty nervous about the current situation, it is a coin flip really. It's going to be 50/50. It either breaks $4100 and we go to the moon or we crash pretty badly. Bitcoin is never so expensive IMHO. Ask them who bought it at 1k in 2k14 and saw a 75% dump. Many might have sold off under the fear that bitcoin may die, others who still hold their coins are now enjoying a 500% profit over their investment. Never think that your buy price may not get touched once they dump because bitcoin always get a kick after being dumped hard and that kick throws it off hard above some extreme levels.

Someone said something similar on this thread once and came back crying he missed the chance of buying bitcoin at a very cheap rate hoping it will come down again. That was early this year. The thing is if you have your cash, you can buy, if possible you can leave maybe some certain percentage to buy later incase a dip eventually occurs.

This way, at least you balance the risk of not buying now and ending up buying at a much higher price is bitcoin ends up showing its bullish tendency.

I don't think that price will fall to that lower level now as it has started to increase once again and may we now our wait will over to see the price of $5000 so if you have excess money then you can buy it even now as price is likely to increase in coming days too but if you believe that price will drop down back to $4000 then better to wait for some days and see how price behaves.

What is the reason make you have this opinion? I heard other traders said Bitcoin will recover in this month and it will increase more, do not stop at $5,000 is highest price. Yes, taking the current price into consideration, $4000 seems to be the right and best price to be bought. Now we've missed the opportunity and has reached a level far away. It's good to leave that, and focus on making regular investments unlike the price increase and decrease.

If you have a plan to inverse means, just wait to reach 4000$.It occur only once I think. After the Segwit 2x,the price of bitcoin will reach .So wait till the end of October and brought the enormous bitcoin at that time. And don't sell it soon.Sell after the one month and you will get very huge profit.

I also think like that, I think after segwit there will be accumulation of prices and it would fall under $5000 or maybe it can touch $4000, but after that the price will rise very high, and this is the same as the previous segwit.
 

But it will recover even it falls but might take after awhile,but seeing in the past how bitoin moves then it can really still grow since btc is the future currency.

But i think there is no use to wait, because now its look like difficult that we will see bitcoin price again trading in such a low price. Bitcoin price is increasing from time to time and there are more chances are that bitcoin price will very soon cover 8000$, therefore i do not think that it will be a wise decision to wait for the price to decrease but should try to invest in current price and get some position.
