Title: Possible scammer: Lecture Post by: Jrock on May 20, 2013, 08:04:08 AM I've been around these forums for a while. I mostly just read and trade. I don't post much.
I feel I've learned scammer behavior quite easily, as it's pretty predictable. Forum user Lecture was selling some 800 point microsoft cards for slightly under market value. Link : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=210347.0 I offered even less (lowballed him) and he instantly accepted. Okay, great deal... I then realized he was someone that literally just reigstered, so I asked him to either go first, or use escrow. Boom silence, after seeing him log in and out after that message. I then went through his previous posts, He is attempting to sell stuff without escrow (someone even complained about him not accepting escrow), and has even took out a BTC loan from somebody. Come on guys, there's red flags all over this. I hope it turns out he's not a scammer and he didn't get anyone (lecture if you are legit I apologize), but I just thought I'd point out the obvious before people deal with him and take realistic precautions before you just hand someone money. It's called scam accusations, not "maybe scammers" Title: Re: Possible scammer: Lecture Post by: Jrock on May 20, 2013, 10:59:14 PM Hmmm. My spidersense is tingling too, but should you post names here on a suspicion ? It's called scam accusations, not "maybe scammers" Well I didn't see any post rules stickied so I just went with it. I'd rather put a warning up so at least people are aware they should trade smart with the guy. Title: Re: Possible scammer: Lecture Post by: Mitchell on May 22, 2013, 11:04:20 PM Damn. I loaned him 0.2 BTC. Lets hope that i get it back. And if not, well, then its my own fault.
