We're all know etc is a Coin from ethereum split and the price now is very low even etc doesn't had 50% price from eth so why people still buy it ? Can someone explain to me ?

Because those are still believing about the future of ethereum classic, but i don't understand what is the future of the ethereum classic? So many people are betting the ethereum classic will worth a lot in the future.
But there is not development that already used by the community. ETH is only the one.

But seen the graphic price i think it's hard to get enough profit by etc so i hard to trust that coin and much people don't like that coin too

people buy etc because they can profit from this, there are lots of miners, holders, exchanges support etc, its too big too fail in some sense

Since ETH block chain is not used that much, we cant say they buy it for gas. People mostly buy ETC as a speculation. ETC should not turn on PoS and should stay secure and worth a lot for longer period of time.

Personally I bought because they have to open a fund for it.
In addition, I think that when ETH goes to POS, I think that the price of the ETC will increase

I personally see ethereum classic as a fine coin, it has not interesting features, the person behind of it (barry silbert) is good and can make somethings good for etc.

The person in charge should not be the reason why they should invest in it. I just believe it is being held by the whales of ethereum probably one day it will have better use. It has virtually no use for now. Time will tell where it belongs.

People buy Etc because as you could see Ethereums price right now is big and maybe some people think in time Etc would reach that amount as well. Holding on to them because the price right now is still low and cheap.

I think it's because etc is from ethereum split, and as you said the price is cheap. Maybe people are expecting it to grow same as etheruem. That's why people are buying it cheap so that if it becomes expensive they will gain a lot. I think that's how it works here in altcoin trading.

People do not buy coins just because of its value. It is not always about the price. There are people who supports ethereum classic, thats why they still buy those coins and it is still active.

Because ETC is what Ethereum is supposed to be. Decentralized. When that hard fork happened when investors lost money, some people (which I agree with) just switched to ETC and stopped supporting ETH.

Maybe it's because etc also came from eth and it's cheap, which is ideal to buy. If it blooms the same way as ethereum, a lot of people who bought it cheap would really earn a lot of money. I think it's worth investing because it's a coin split from eth and I think it has a lot of potential too.

Which I know people buy atc, because the price is not cheap and not too high a little different from others. Of course people ran to buy atc and very excited.

They believe it that it has a future just what eth is now so thats why they buy it.

People who keep buying etc are those people who believe that doing so would be profitable in the future. They buy etc and planning to hold them for future profits.

i think the most logical reasons is about profit, as long that coin still in the big market, there will always buyer of etc. I think the trader one is the most active buyer in here, i know the coin is doesn't have charm like eth, but if the volume still strong enough, there will always buyer and holder

As you know ethereum classic existed after a hack action. And they made a hard fork on ethereum blockchain. Here the deal with etc is the new upcoming projects. Some ICO can use etc blockchain, and this could make a boom in ethereum classic. That's the reason.

There is no actual reason to buy ethereum classic rather than just hope to the big pumpers to pump the price of the coin. Because they are betting in there to leave their money from there with decent profit. They are betting on the fatamorgana about the future of ethereum classic that was so simple.

They buy etc as an investment. But investment wise, it looks promising also and possibly it will appreciates in the future. With being fork from eth, etc will be a second choice too from eth IMHO. So far it is doing well.

They are all waiting a surprise from the team IMO... It has the legaccy effect of etherium and not so attractive today for investment but the pumps are always here so everyone has there own strategy..

Ethereum Classic price is low only for you but price is high for some people such as example me.Already ETC price is big raising now 15.88$ per coin value.Everybody try to hold this coin because this coin growth is very high for future.

Now the rate of Ethereum Classik is 15.82 dollars with a capitalization of about 1.5 billion dollars. Recently, his rate has slightly increased. We don't really know what are their reason's but I think the main reason is they want to have a profit from it.

It is in the want that they will earn big profits after buying it at so much low prices. ETC will at least have bigger chances of going up because it is clone of ethereum itself. Ethereum has shown promises to us and followed the same after having lots of dips. Same case is expected with ETC as well. The coin will come up with new price pretty soon as more people will keep buying it. The formula is simple, more the investment into specific coin more is the trade volume and thus gaining price. That's the thing which will lift ETC and those who invest now will get great profits.

A lot of misinformation here. First of all, Ethereum Classic didn't came from Ethereum. If you go with the idea where it came from, well Ethereum Classic is the ORIGINAL Ethereum chain, the Ethereum right now is the forked one, Ethereum was the one deviated from the original chain hence making the Ethereum Classic the original chain.

When people saying that there are no devs and developments on ETC, these people are either unaware, dismissive of facts or just plain stupid or they don't want ETC to live. ETC has three development teams and they have independent road maps.

And this is just the other side of ETC, aside from Barry or Charles, and to be clear, they may appear as front but they are not the leaders of ETC and ETC has no leaders it is an autonomous group with different development teams unlike ethereum.

People are free to use whichever chain they want. Those who did not agree with Mr Vitalik Buterin and gang stayed on the old one. I don't know of any ICO that's used ETC blockchain though, this is new. What's an example, do you know any?

As long as there is a sell and buy then it will remain profitable what else the coin is still in the big market. it may now be low again but we do not know pasa, it could suddenly soar coinnya price then there are some people still keep their coins to wait keuntunggan many-fold.

Because there are still people who believe in the fundamentals of etc and that they still believe it is better than ETH. If they keep on pushing, it may even take off someday.

Miners mine it but I think that this reason can be developed into something bigger. People in this thread write a lot about the price of etc. It is cheap, it's true. However, I think there is also a thing we tend to forget but perhaps some people don't. I'm talking about eth. I remember talks a few months ago about ethereum preparing to switch to the proof of stake mechanism. Eth must do that eventually in order to survive. And, as it was predicted that the switch happens at the beginning of 2017, I think it is not long before an attempt. If eth doesn't switch - it crushes and people have to move the money into something else fast. Why not to move it into something similar, into etc? If eth succeeds, miners have to mine something else. Again, turning to etc seems probable.

People believe that etc value will appreciate aftert some time like what happen to bitcoin now they think that it is a great opportunity to buy now while the value is really that low and wait when the price goes up then thet would sell them. Like other investor do taking a risk and hoping for a good return.

I think its more on appreciation,because they will only appreciate etc when it takes time,and its also because etc is the brother of Eth so they expect more on etc even though it has low value in the market,and also many people are still believeing in the fundamentals of etc.

Because etc is a cool coin, it cannot be said trash for ethereum classic for sure but it is just based on some fundamentals and offers it to us like a big deal.

Holding etc now is smart because it’s still cheap and expected to be rise strong in the future like eth – as you see.

People buy etc in case some new developer gets hired by the team and the coin goes into sky, so they could make money. Also it is supported by miners too.

I have been mining ETC since they splitted and i have never felt like it has been a better coin. it is just the other ethereum in my mind. one of these days it might pop like eth

Every coin will pump if your patient enough.  ETC has been bleeding for a while and probably has a better chance than many for a 2x or more

Because some traders believes that Ethereum Classic values will be rising in the future, maybe that is one of the reason people are storing some of it in their wallet, it is always unpredictable which will be the next altcoins to be rising in values and some traders are hoping to strike rich with ETC.

I don't see any sense in buying etc at the moment besides hoping its price will go up.

Maybe I set my miners to mine few dozens just for holds, cause who knows if it will follow ether price trend and keep at least 10% of its value.

See many people are expecting ETC price because it is also decentralized like ETH and has similar future like ETH. Yes, i can say many big countries like China is also targeting ETC as one of the best cryptos after ETH.

Obviously, there are some reasons behind that ppl show interest over the ETC. You might check the recent updates, and volume increased. Massive things are coming. Don't let emotions get the best of you, follow the community update. Just at the beginning of the game so ppl keep loading more and more before its going to moon.

I don't known. Maybe because etc is the first ethereum coin.. see bitcoin. high fee and low transaction but people still buy.

It doesn't have ethereum foundation working on it and Vitalik, this is already a huge plus.

it's because they speculate lol, you can do this in trading that basically feed your own investment, you buy at X rate a X amount, you then pump the coin to another higher X rate, and now you can dump on your pump lol, repeat, while other investors help you pumping your shitcoin

I guess people see no usage difference between two coins but there is huge price gap. So they think it can be good in future. They generally buy it to make profit. Ethereum price is so high that etc should be at least like %40 of it in price. So their buy orders are understandable.

I strongly believe of the future of ETC. You should know that ETC is the original Etherium. I know that Etherium Classic is going to become more trusted and projects and ICO will be on ETC blockchain in the near future. Right now is the time of Etherium. Do you think the ratio between $14 and $21 is small? It seems better than Ethereum but the volatility and volume of Ethereum Classic cannot compare with Ethereum, because you need have to remember Ethereum can margin trade and shorter always short margin when have flash crash on market.

Well, to me it is all about individuals believe or perception and the way one study the ethereum classic that the future value will be. Just like bitcoin nobody know what future hold for ethereum classic.

One of the reason people buy ETC is that they are speculating of the price to get high.  Aside from that some are influenced by the real supporter of the token.  This is cryptocurrency and even a dead coin can give someone a profit. 

As far as I know people buy for several reasons, some believe the value will of etc will one day go to the moon and make them rich, some buy ETC by mistake thinking they have got themselves the real ethereum when infact its a break away ethereum crypto, and some people want a little bit of every cryptocurrency they can get their hands on.

People do think that the price of ETC will go up and make them rich however, with the price of Ethereum going up and down the price of ETC is really similar to the movements of Bitcoin and Litecoin. IF Ethereum goes up then there’s a really high possibility that ETC will go up as well because they both share the similar concept.
The most interesting day for ETC holders would be if the price of ETC goes higher than the price of Ethereum. I am not looking forward to seeing that day happen because people will be very upset if it does.

Here some reasons ethereum ETH will be failure and ETC will take over

1. CRYPTOCURRENCY ICOS ARE A RISK
Even though virtually every company or project looking to raise money wishes to conduct an Ethereum-based ICO, these crowdsales can have negative repercussions. A lot of these projects will eventually liquidate the amount of ETH raised and dump it all on the market. It is only a matter of time until the influx of cryptocurrency ICOs backfires on the Ethereum ecosystem. 2. EXPLOITS AND WEAKNESSES
Even though many companies have joined the Ethereum Enterprise Alliance, they are not necessarily aware of the issues this network has. We have seen two major exploits discovered and used, both of which resulted in massive amounts of funds being stolen. The first exploit was the DAO smart contract bug, and the second exploit showed how Ethereum has no secure multisignature wallet solution currently.  Immature technology often suffers from issues like these.

While proof-of-work will be replaced by proof-of-stake in the future, Ethereum will continue to be inflationary as a result. That is no longer the case for Ethereum, and it is surprising how few people recognize this important detail.

Ethereum’s developers introduced a hard fork after the DAO was hacked. This hack put a large amount of the available ETH supply at risk of falling into the wrong hands. The hard fork also removed the immutability aspect of the Ethereum blockchain. This means that any application or project built on top of the Ethereum blockchain could see part of its history or transactions wiped out if a similar incident were to occur. People looking for the immutable Ethereum blockchain should look into Ethereum Classic, which was maintained as an ideological opposition to this blockchain rollback.

I think the investment term is where the stock in storage for personal gain in the future so that it can be used when it has potential in a big advantage at a time when the price increases but I'm sure with the Ethereum classic if they have an increasingly high price for years to come. so from that a lot of people who buy from now on so that they can get huge profits in the future.

I think people see some potential on etc especially that it was somehow connected to eth. Despite the fact that its value isn't that high, a lot of people still believe that soon it will increase. Though this is a speculation of some
Sort and no assurance is given, people are taking some risk in investing on etc for the hope hat they will soon gain some profit.

Yes many groups of traders who want do pump ethereum classic, although i don't know when is it happen and the other reason many people who buy ethereum classic ETC related with ETC's price, it is more stable than ethereum's price ETH, so ethereum classic is good for stores the value when ethereum's price goes down.

I did this question with some friends many times. I did not get a good answer for this. Probably it is just speculation cause, as the other people said, there is not an active community/devs.

In my opinion, ethereum classic is a strong currency and it can be the same as ethereum. In aspects, it is not different from ethereum but I do not know why people only focus on ethereum. Soon, when ethereum successfully activate the proof-of-stake, miners will no longer can mine ethereum. They will move to ETC to mine ;)

I think some people think the etherum clasic is a fraction of etherum so potentially as good as etherum, and i see the price is still cheap so this coin is easy to own and some people use this coin to get profit in the short term.  :)

People still hope that the price will move the price of the ETN. Naive ;D I think this is a dead project since ico on it is disproportionately little compared to the eth, but this is the main feature of the ether.

If a coin should be bought or not is decided by the quality of developement team and the technical aspect of coon. ETC has got a very good technical prospect and an amazing develop enemy team with Barry as lead developer.

ETC fractions from ETH so people think this coin is potentially good including my own buy etc. Why? because in the short term I can reap the benefits in the cause of the price up and down so that's why so many enthusiasts etc now. right now a lot of potentially good new coins including what I now support.

But it's not mean this project can't succes one day but if that happen it will not happen any time soon and the possibility remains small though not 0.

Maybe because of the price of it being too low, and knowing that it came from the ethereum which is a successful altcoins, they are hoping for a bigger come back of their money. Because maybe for now the value of it will fall but as time goes by, the value may pump and start growing a little bit higher just like eth. With a small amount of coins and starting to pump, it will be alot of komey waiting for your wallets. Just need a lot of patience for that to happen.

For the same reasons as for forked ethereum. Partly short term speculative interests, partly  with hope on the technology. But looks like classic will stay on POW algo. Not seem very promising to me.

Actually there are many people think in someday, after Ethereum cannot continue mining, hot trend of altcoin GPU mining will be Ethereum Classic - an altcoin fork from old chain Ethereum. But, I think this thought maybe wrong, just is my personal opinion.

Yeah i dont find a logical reason for that, i dont understand why people keeps buying this useless coin. Lets be serious, why do you hold it? there are no reasons for that. This is an useless coin that only has an "Ethereum" in his name, otherwise, this would be more useless than now.
But i think that most people dont care about that, so this coin is now tagged as an "speculation coin" because everybody wants it to become the next ethereum, but honestly, i dont think that is gonna happen.

People buy ETC simply because it is still available at a lower price and you can expect a lot from it.

I buy ETC and hoarding as people, because I think my potential and future ETC would be the same as the ETH in the future. I also earn profit from it because the price ETC cheap and easy to trade.

Used to like ETC but recently sold all mine because Bitcoin Cash is turing complete and will do the smart contracts thing 10x more efficiently than ETH/ETC.

Some people say buying ETC is one of the risky thing that they do . But because they see and think that ETC will be promising and have a potential to the future that will give them a good profit.

I bought some ETC and left it on wallet, i didnt use it at all. with expectations this year, it will grow again towards 0.007 like some time ago. So, give profit is more than 60% and for me it's a good profit.

Trendy men buying all. Latecomer hamsters buying all. Somebody sell all scam coins at highs.

for the time being someone buys etc because the price is slightly lower there. perhaps if it is kept for a while until the end of the year can be profitable and provide high profit.

As far as I understand, ETH and ETC had that split because of a bug in a smart contract that allowed a hack to happen. A lot of people continue to encourage ETC for ethical reasons (they just kept on going on the same chain, accepting the bug, thinking they have to go on and some people admire that). But I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people mixed up ETC and ETH; like people who have no clue about blockchain technology and only heard that it would be a great idea to invest in ethereum thinking that the word 'classic' means that it is the ethereum of Vitalik Buterin.

Funny I just bought ETH for gas. I don't have really much of a use of it right now and it is just idling in my eth wallet.
Maybe many of us do that because of the ICO's that are blooming now. We want to buy one and then sell it back in just weeks or maybe months but we need the gas to do that.  ;D

No no, they only buy etc for manipulation. People are not seeking development from ethereum classic since it has no real development after its fork. They only want to benefit from price movements.

Etc is a fraction of eth which means it has a developer that isn't less great. Later, etc is definitely popular which has a positive effect on exchange rate.

Because some people know that ETC is a promising coin ,they think that if you buy ETC now sooner or later the value of this coin will increase to the point where they can compete to BTC and ETH . Thats why they invest some time and coin for this .

Because it is cheap. That means it is not going any cheaper. And it is Etherium, the original version. The etherium that becomes more famous right now is the fork and not the original. Etherium Classic is somehow undervalued and so it will become more expensive in the months to come.

yes it's lazy coin so i think  ppl. that buy etc hoping  it will rise in future as ETH coin  but they only whales thinking about something like that . who know what the future hold ...

For me, I doubt about future Ethereum Classic can attractives miner going to it and mining like Ethereum, because if we do not have Ethereum for mining, Zcash or other altcoin GPU mining still good choice for us. :-*

Already people are started to Mine ETC in my country. Before they all mined ETH but now ETH mining become very difficult and taking too many days to mine one ETH, so people shifted ETC. They can mine a couple of ETC per month, and the price is also impressive it is profitable to compare Zcash and other altcoins.

You are right. Never bought this coin, only mined. However forecasts for ETC are quite positive.

People buying ethereum classic because of the great hope they have that ethereum  classic price will raise in future. I have followed price action for quite some time now and many traders has make thousand of dollars from ethereum classic. You should buy into a coins because of the hope of price raising!.

ETC's current price is very cheap,  and I want to invest in its long-term. In the next months I believe it will be priced higher than the current. If you choose ETC, I believe this is a good time for you to invest. And waiting for the best results will come.

Yeah maybe it is a good coin, but i dont understand the real reason of why are you investing in it.. you are only saying that it is because it is so cheap, but there are no real reasons for doing that.
I dont think its price could be much higher than now, it has been freezed from $15-$16 for more than two months, and it dropped to $12 when this correction started.
I dont have too much hope for this coin, i think that people are speculating a lot with this one.

Individuals purchase ETC  because of thinking that they can benefit from this,Since those are as yet accepting about the fate of etc there are bunches of excavators, holders, trades bolster and so on, its too huge too flop in happenstance. Ethereum's value at the present time is huge and possibly a few people think in time ETC would achieve that sum also. Clutching them on the grounds that the value at the present time is still low and modest.

People will buy because they see etc still has future, but this is private opinion and we can judge them. Future meaning, next time the price will comes up again or until now this coin still survive from low demand and negative news. For investor, the coin with history like that become primary option to replace money, but for trader will kill them slowly but sure. Up to you and have a nice day.

Because people think they can make money. But etc isn't on par with eth development wise.

My friend mines it because he says it makes a decent profit for mining at the moment, he doesnt really care too much about the coin itself

People are selling ETC panic and I do not understand why this market is having very low prices but daily trading volume is very high, this makes me doubtful because investors will buy cheap ETC and will pump in the near future.

There are many reasons people to buy Bitcoin i think because few people buy Bitcoin for trading and some people to buy Bitcoin for alt coin investment and another people buy Bitcoin for Betting.

People buy because they are betting on a radical evolution of the philosophy of society.

Generation Y somewhat surges on the notion of "how could they - some - grease so much on our back?"

And I think it's more than time to convert this world into a much more transparent system. This will not solve the problems of the world, but bring more justice and transparency.

A public system would benefit so much from advances with the confidence of the citizen.

So the value of this world will increase to this goal = mass adoption.

It is as from Bitcoin BCH are, clone coin of the other, people buying because is an investment. The hope for the price to go up.

I don't think there will be a mass adoption for etc here. Etc was created by a hacking attempt and it didn't provide any benefit to the society. Then why should society adopt ethereum classic instead of ethereum or waves?

Etc easily 2x soon after new mining hashing which will increase difficulty
So i expect price will go 2x from here

Cause a lot people believe that ETC is the original coin and they see potential at some point.

Remember that the split happened due to the fact that ETH decided to hard-fork basically reset the coin back because of a hack, that someone managed to steal many thousands of ETH. Ethereum them decided to revert it back (to the original owners) but this raised an important matter.

If this happened once, it can happen again?

Whenever someone steals some ETH coins will they will always hard-fork it?

Some find the decision correct, other's find it unethical.

It's like if someone steals a bank, the money that was stolen is discarded from the market.

Is this kind of a sarcasm? Etherium Classic is going to become a big hit in the future. Right now, it is slow in its movement. But as soon as it gained the much needed acceleration, it will become a force to be reckoned with in the altcoin world. I am supporting ETC.

Reading most of the comments here it looks like people here don't even understand that ETH is pretty much centralized and hard-forks invalidating coins, such as happened with the DAO-hard fork about a year ago, can and probably will happen again.
Therefore I see quite some potential for growth for ETC in the next few years compared to ETH.

Etherium Classic is slowly gaining strength.  I think it will not take a few years for ETC to become a trusted altcoin. 2018 might be the year for ETC. There are projects that tried testing the waters of ETC for their ICOs. I hope they will multiply in the months to come.

There is the less coins so it is so easy to pump and dump.

Easier to manipulate than Ethereum.

Because it is like a twin of ETH and people see potential on it plus it's value is cheap now. But for me, i don't see any potential on that coin. I would rather spend my money on ETH and NEO than ETC. That's just my opinion though.

Some people are of the opinion that once ETH goes POS, ETC will have mining hashpower come to it and rise.
It has very few projects on it as compared to the hundreds on ETH so do not expect too much rise for ETC.

That's because buying it low would benefit everyone from its hike in the future time. There has been so many cases where people bought the coins at very low prices and somehow there coin got boosted in the future time. That's easy and quick money in short time. You can expect ether classic work like that way and if it really does then you have got the chance to earn big bucks.  ;)

Here the main reason is because when the price of the Etherium will increase then with the same way Etherium classic will also increase .
So here Etherium classic is best option to buy because here we are all us know that the coin ETH will increase soon because under in hard fork .
And also here we should not forget tha Etherium classic coin is the actual Etherium coin , but the owner changed the name of Etherium to Etherium classic and new coin generated in the fork named as Etherium .
So here all over we are toward to make money if we can invest in Etherium classic because i made.many times profit in this coin with hige profit .
But here my suggestion for you that don't invest in single coin but try to invest different different coin because the market of single coin can go down anytime and anytime up , so to investment in many coins is a better way to lower the risk  in trading .
