Title: How to help blind people using and dealing with Bitcoin ?
Post by: Hellacopter on August 21, 2017, 06:38:00 PM
I think that blind people can't normally using Bitcoin, access their wallets , get their private keys and so on without the help of their relatives/ friends.. which is making some problems for them i guess.

Is it possible to create a way for them to access their wallets, send bitcoins..by voice for example ?

Or any other suggestions ?

Definitely doable and probably not even that hard to implement. The problem is, no dev(s) will be willing to spend their time on working on such device/software unless there's a demand for it. I don't reckon there's currently any large number of blind want-to-be bitcoiners.

I am very impressed with the recent innovations happening around us. The day before yesterday I read the news about Google supporting voice commands for regional languages too that means now visually impaired people will be able to cope up with apps more fluently.

I think we will need the support of exchange or any third party company to deal with the usage of bitcoins using voice commands. There are multiple challenges including empowering such visually impaired people to transact with totally new Bitcoin address every time without even 1% chance of mistake.

It's technical and needs lots of works since someone must developed tools for that which is far from happening at the moment because like the guy said above, no demands for that and I don't see too any demands for it directly from the blind.

What should we do is to support them financially. They have a so called talent so focus on that to enhanced it. Also they have their own way to make money. If they want to used bitcoin, just asked some help for their closed relatives or friend.

It's not tough blind people are God's gift they can sense and feel. I visit a ngo every month so the people know me over there i didn't make a single noise but he felt that i was around himself. Learning bitcoin will be hard for them as managing private key and password can't be done by him alone he will need someone trusted

Blind people usually have people who assist them on their daily routine. Would be necessary this person help the blind one to deal with Bitcoins. It's hard to adapt the world for these people, but step by step it's happening. Maybe in the future there will be easiest ways to introduce deficient people into Crypto-Currency world, but for now they really need someone to assist them.

Just like ATM's and similar have Braille support, any modern smartphone or computer has some kind of support for blind people. Apple devices are an example of blind-friendly devices with many assists (mainly through a voice reading aloud what's on the screen) and even compatible hardware to help people with issues. I think a mobile wallet on iOS is perfectly useable as is right now for blind people. The rest is as said, support will come with time and if there's a demand for it.

Sending Bitcoins or other crypto with voice can work, but how to make earning of bitcoin acceptable for blind people? I don't say it is impossible. There are new technologies which help for such people to use internet. But it is surly can not be possible for everyone who would like to roll into all that. Technologies cost a lot and available not for every one, let's be honest. Help of somebody from family or a friend also awakes many questions in my mind. So, I am more for to say that crypto-currencies' business unacceptable for blind people than opposite. Unfortunately.

The concept of bitcoin being available for the disabled caught my attention. In a wide perception, only rich people can invest in bitcoin which I have realized now that it is in the process of development to implement and put in use not only by those who physically can.
Your idea is very much possible with the capabilities of technology nowadays. But while any proposals for ideas like this, let us be the eyes and trust of the blinds. Bitcoin will be more meaningful I guess.

This is a good topic.

There are braile keyboards and apps which convert text on screen to audible speech for the visually impaired. There are also speech command software like alexa, although I do not know if there is crypto support.

Things are probably much better now than they were a few decades ago although this could be a neglected area.

This is certainly very interesting where bitcoin is accessible to everyone regardless of physical differences. This condition is certainly a challenge for devs to find new technology for blind people to access their bitcoin. As we know today there has been AI technology assisted with smartphones and pivothead glass that can help the blind people to get know the environment.
Hopefully there is a dev or inventor that capable of developing the technology into bitcoin wallet, so even the blind people can feel the usefulness and benefits from bitcoin.

They're going to have equal difficulties just like if the had to process a transaction using our regular banking systems. The banks do provide customer service on board for blind people which bitcoin doesn't.In my opinion, they should be guided by a trusted third party human to do the same.Otherwise too many complications if you let technology itself handle the same.

That's a must for making bitcoin more popular. Blind people too belong to our community, but the disability keeps them not to move same in a normal manner. For this we need to make an innovation that makes them be happy. Hope bitcoin usage will be tremendous when these issues of usage gets sought with technology similar to some sound or eye scanning methods.

I think this is nonsense. Because, I do not think that blind people will need Bitcoins. Why do they need them? What will they do with them?

Yeah ... this is also a pretty difficult problem, and I think at the present we are still not able to solve that problem. We just can wait for changes in the future. When btc becomes a global currency, we will inevitably have creative ideas proposed to solve the same problems. Maybe we have to wait too long to see changes.

Blind people difficult to live in this world. They can't do without the help of other people. But for this purpose we exist to help each other. Not a problem to configure their computer and they too can earn bitcoins. Cash out and spend, and can also help carers. The main thing that was desire.

This is a very interesting topic, as I don't see a reason why disabled people could not use cryptocurrencies.
Once in a open source meeting (in 2013), I saw a blind man using what I could call a blind display. It was a big matrix of pins that would go up and down to form braille. According to him, it was a very old device, not produced anymore, and he was looking for someone or a company to design a new model. He was also using a braille keyboard, and was doing translation tasks all the time (even when we were both discussing). He was very very fast reading and typing with his strange rig.
So I think there may be creative solutions to bring crypto to blind people, but it must be well thought and built.

This is an important topic, but the developers have not thought up such a trifle and blind people will find it very difficult to use bitcoin if they want to do it. After all, they now all work only on trust in the person who can help manage coins.

Right now it would be hard for those who are blind to use bitcoin since all the transaction etc. need to have a visual in order to see if the transaction is right. We really need visions when using bitcoins since it's a digital currency there's a high chance of risk if you transact and no vision

1. Bitcoin is dealing with numbers if you miss 1 number or add 1 zero to your transaction it would be a big problem. For exmaple transferring money

2. How they going to get their private keys, wallet address or how they're going to transact. Since bitcoin or digital currency can be able to access thru technology.

We don't know, we're living in a modern world where technology spread so fast. Maybe soon someone will made a technology that would help blind people in order to use bitcoin

Being blind or disable doesn't mean they're not capable to do things what normal people can do.
These people has a great perspective in life, very optimistic and their disability is not the hindrance to try and do something new. Actually, its hard to think that a blind man is into bitcoin but with their eagerness to learn they struve more. Maybe the sources are limited but they can turn it to unlimited. They do this extra ordinary.

This is going to be a difficult things to give a solutions for the blind people who are interested to do bitcoin. In the first place, how are they gonna do it? Using their is would be hard I think. But if that happen that's very cool. Though, we knew bitcoin is for everyone in the world we all know that.

That is a really good question, the blind people should not be left out of the bitcoin market and all its benefits, they should also be put into the view and they should be considered in every decision making in the crypto market.

I actually had never thought about this. I guess blind people would have loved ones nearby, at least in most cases who could help them buy Bitcoin. In any case, it is interesting to think about!

This is very good idea that you want to donate some of your bitcoin to the blinds. May be you will receive the reward for your kindness. But many people in this world are just earning for themselves and for their families.

Because they think that the money cannot be earned so easily and why give so easily. And also the loss is faces only by the investors. So they are very strict in this regard.

I do not think that there are many blind people involved in bitcoin, since it's still an Internet currency, and I do not know how they would deal with it. However, if bitcoin in the future is spreading the same as the dollar and other currencies and there will be a need for widespread use of bitcoins in everyday expenses, developers will create an application that will allow using crypto currency for people with poor eyesight. While this is not relevant, and, accordingly, no one takes it.
In addition, almost all blind people have people who help them navigate, and these assistants will also be able to support them with bitcoin.

This is one of the few questions good lately asked here. I don't think there a solution for blind ppl to use bitcoin , or maybe it is and i don't know about it.

However,  the task will be a little bit difficult but I'm sure at what tech we have we can found a solution for blind people , like voice recogniser incorporate in special wallets. Just an ideea tho , not sure if good or bad.

Bitcoins ought to be a pay hotspot for all individuals that is the reason you should include a voice alternatives with the goal that visually impaired individuals can likewise have profits by Bitcoins and after that everywhere throughout the world Bitcoins can be utilized and than bitcoins will be known as lord of economy.

This is a the kind of quality post i am looking for. As i was reading some replies i think they are right, the only thing that could help the visually impaired person (if he/she is alone and no one he/she can trust) is through voice recognition and voice command, though i think it hasn't been fully implemented right now? i don't know much about techs these days. But furthermore if he/she cannot do such things and wants to trade or access wallets i think physical guidance from other person is still efficient way for him/her.

From the past years the implementation of computer to use for blind people is like impossible but achievable, but after some research, study and development they successfully created a computer that suit for the needs of blind people by the help of keyboard and text to voice. maybe they can find a way to use to be able to help blind people to deal with bitcoin.

I suppose these people often use the help of their relatives and those ones, who care about it. There must be some applications where they can use voice commands to deal with Bitcoins. However, I think it is almost impossible now to use crypto for them
